Well... That certainly was a book.

I read a translation that was recently provided via Zeonic Scanlations, so I can't be sure if things were lost in translation or if the original Japanese text tells the precise same story with the same flow and characterization, but...

I don't know. Overall, this book left me conflicted and very frustrated. Duo's characterization was perfect, but I felt that the other pilots not only reduced their stereotypical personality tropes but also exaggerated them. You can tell the author definitely had/has a favorite pilot, and that's okay (Duo's also my favorite!) lol But because of this, I could at least tell he didn't put as much effort into the others.

The original characters introduced in this book were incredibly aggravating. I recognize I should have felt something for Madame L and Addy especially, but I just... could not muster up anything for them. Addy in particular really aggravated me.

Something I did really enjoy about this book, though, was the in-depth exploration of a colony and how the structure itself actually works! I appreciated that quite a bit, actually.
