**This is a fantasy-historical-romance, first and foremost. It is also multicultural as the characters are of different races.***
Outspoken, loyal, and skilled with the sword, Princess Jaisyn St. Ives of Lytheria is no princess of fairytales. After the unexpected death of her father, Jaisyn takes control of the kingdom, expecting to be called upon to defend her claim to a throne previously held by men. What she does not expect is the arrival of Vulcan Mor’an, the High King of the Northlands and the one man she despises above all, who seems to believe he is now the rightful ruler of her kingdom. Even as he provides support for his claim, Jaisyn refuses to listen. She will meet Vulcan Mor’an on the battlefield before willingly handing her kingdom to a barbarian she blames for the death of a loved one!
Born to a ruthless warlord of a father, Vulcan Mor’an is powerful, fierce and quite deadly. His prowess is legendary, and those who don’t fear the Northern Wolf, respect his skill on the battlefield and his reach beyond it. Vulcan prides himself on his strength, and with it, his lack of weakness. That is, until he encounters a spitfire princess intent on murdering him in his sleep. Jaisyn of Lytheria is unlike any lady Vulcan has encountered. In her golden body is a fierce adversary, a woman who does not cower in his presence like most but fights his every step with a stubbornness that both irritates and captivates him. This princess may become the one person capable of bringing him to his knees.
Warrior is the tale of two feuding royals, their attraction despite their differences, and the consequences that come as a result of their union. With various obstacles threatening to tear them apart, Jaisyn St. Ives and Vulcan Mor’an struggle to keep their relationship afloat, and with it, their very lives.

From common ancestors and within the sacred grounds of the old Forest,
4 familes emerged. To rule the realm and its people...
Sulan in the South. A large and wealthy kingdom with rowdy people.
Mitherie in the West. Elvish-like people with shocking grey hair and piercing silver eyes.
Lytheria in the East. Prosper with kind golden haired people. Sunny and warm.
Morden in the North. Savage people with the desire to conquer. Warriors unsurpassed in battle with their notorious leader. The Northern Wolf.
The uneasy peace, between the kingdoms, is tentative and requires sacrifice, tears and blood to maintain... but sometimes a flower blooms in the most unusual place.
3.5 Stars I'm sucker for epic fantasy... A Lord of the Rings aficionado, I haven't missed a single Game of Thrones episode. That said I was really ready to let this book blow me away.
Well, it didn't... Don't get me wrong! I really liked it. It had enough intrigue and plot to keep me interested and a rather hot and frustrating romance to appease me, but I needed some "magic" elements too...
Elves
and dwarves,
or fairies.
But that's just me...
Back to our story: Jaisyn St. Ives a Litherian Princess is forced into marriage with Vulcan Mor'an the savage Morden leader. What follows is an angst filled story, rather HAWT and with battles to keep satisfied all of us blood-thirsty wenches.
Jaisyn is a refreshing heroine, fierce and strong-willed not willing to bow to anyone.
Vulcan is frustratingly vicious and hard but when the strong fall, they fall hard... These two stubborn fools, break your heart, you want to throttle them and bang your head but you can't help but root for them.
My inner bodice-ripper fan, had a field day!!! This book reminded me of some older historicals and Kristen Ashley's Fantasyland Series, without the humour and the magic. I really liked the story and it definitely kept me interested and anxious to read more.
I have no idea, if there is gonna be a next book but THERE IS a cliffhanger concerning secondary characters. I really hope we get to read Isolde St.Ives and Varian Mor'an' story...
Always on the look-out for a fantasy romance... *sigh*
This book is so good that it caught me by surprise! The story starts off a little slow because a lot of things happen in the beginning end up making a lot of sense. The books gets really , really good there is so much action and romance and hot sex in this book you will feel like you are watching a movie. One of the questions I had was is this a I/R romance but at some point I did not care because this story is that good. This is a I/R romance look at the descriptions and you will see that Jaisyn is a black woman. This book take you through many twists and turns but you be riveted until the last page . Jaisyn is a strong female lead that you will root for and get so mad at you want to hit her . Vulcan is a good match for Jaisyn he is a handsome alpha male.
I'm not sure if I just "like" this book or "really liked" this book.
The heroine: So at first I thought the heroine was kick ass! But I sort of changed my mind towards the end of the book. She's wants to end up "Queen" but honestly she doesn't make queenly decisions. She suppose to be so prestigious but she can't seem to think without her feelings so involved. I'm almost sure queens are suppose to be a tactical and logical type of person. But this heroine isn't. She's so prideful so emotional it was to much for me. I ended up wanting jump in the book to throttle her and kick her butt sideways.
The hero: He was about the same as the heroine. Prideful they were a prideful lot. Although I can admit the hero had his reasons to be the way he was I can't necessarily say the same for the heroine. To be honest they were a match made in heaven. Made exactly for each other. Drive each other crazy and all of that jazz.
The Drama: There's a lot of drama! Along with the hero and heroine having so much pride there seems like there's a higher being not wanting them to work out. There was obstacle after obstacle. Misunderstanding after misunderstanding. It made me want to pull my hair out! There was always something and if you love a lot of drama maybe a little bit out suspense this book is for you.
Side Note: They really needed cell phones. I'm sorry I know it's a historical type of romance but so much could of been avoided with the convenience of a cell phone. The "10 day horse ride to here and there" is just crazy. Lol I know it's silly that's not the point of the book but honestly it's all I kept thinking about like "damn if so and so just called or texted so and so problems would of been solved"
I loved this book. I am terrible in writing reviews so I will just suggest everyone to read this book. Make sure you have plenty on time to read it because you won't want to put it down. I ended up reading all night to finish it. I usually get bored read easy and don't finish a book. NOT this book. I couldn't put it down. I can't wait for her to finish her follow up books with the 2 sisters. I enjoy Violette's writing.
I wish I could give it a higher rating than 5 stars. It deserves 10.
I have mixed feelings about this book, loved the main female lead she was kind and completely capable to lead her kingdom she was able to be commanding while also caring. However I think the main male lead spend too much of the book as the bad guy and I can't see why she stays, he overpowering and controlling and at some parts just plain cruel, I think the book should have been longer to show that change that is meant to have happened. The blurb reminded me of a book I read not that long ago 'warprize' which I couldn't help but compare it to, and unfortunately this book just couldn't compete with it, so if you enjoyed this book then check it out it is even better. At the end of this book there are also so many unanswered questions about many of the minor characters! Mixed option but I'm sure it would be some people's cup of tea.
not what I thought it would be. honestly I expected some cheesy romance about a stoic king turned Romeo OR a strong female lead that puts an arrogant king in his place and isn't afraid to dish out, instead I got an almost rape at first sight, a forced marriage and force consummation and I thought hey, maybe things will change drastically maybe this new direction will lead to some conversation and then to an understanding and maybe some actual love instead of blind lust.. IT DID NOT HAPPEN I mean I can accept the forced marriage cause that's how kings used to be back in the never-happened days but I've got to have some character development some humor some honest scenes and NOTHING all I got was the downfall of our prideful princess again and again
This was actually a pretty decent book. But after a while there was no surprise factor to it, it did read quickly and I loved the setting and characters. Had to get used to the macho men but given the time this story takes place it was to be expected. The cover did put me off but eventually I just gave it a go and I'm glad I did. I realize that the cover has had a make-over now, the new one is a lot more appealing than the version I own. But I won't buy the new version just because of the cover…..I would if I had it in print though…I'm crazy like that
An amazing story. this was a re-read for me b/c I read the original story when it was chapter beings posted and I love it then just as much as I love it now. I am so happy she got this published. Can't wait for Miss Jaisyn's sisters' stories.
Incredible! A great storyline even if the explicit descriptions we're removed. I loved it as is. I really wish the author hadn't decided to disappear. I would love to read Warriors 2.
It's a 5 star romance because reverting characters, who make you feel as if your right there with them experiencing every emotion, action and suspenseful thrill. I also, loved that it wasn't a short read and look forward to the next book in this series!!!!

Sword fights, and battles, and royals, oh my! This story was an amazing journey back in time. With strong characters, a sweeping story line, romance and twists around every corner it’ll keep you engaged from start to finish. No, really I stayed up until five in the morning to finish this in one sitting. This Epic is one worth giving your attention to!
Our heroine Jaisyn is not your average princess. Instead of ladies in waiting’s and training on how to be a lady she’s allowed to spar with squires, and commissioned swords. Her skill, wit, and strength of character rival that of any man. Sadly in this day and time it counts for naught. It’s her unusual personality that sets her off on adventures fit for a king. When her Father dies and her kingdom is set to be handed to their enemies via marriage to her younger sister she steps in and takes her place.
The hero Vulcan is sexy, dark, viral and cold as the lands he hails from. Raised in the North he’s barbaric in comparison to Jaisyn’s people. This leads to sparks flying in and out of the bedroom.
These two characters have a lot to learn about themselves and each other. Their journey to discovery, is humorous , entertaining ,and at times downright heart breaking. At times the story can seem a bit over detailed, but in the same sense that Gone with the Wind is over the top. It’s all a part of reading an Epic.
I am a happy woman! After reading some really badly written, predictable IR stories, I can say hand on heart that this book is everything that a great story should be! For once a heroine that is intelligent, a thinker, independent, not intimidated by aggressive males, speaks her mind and she can wield a sword as good as any man - brilliant. I thoughly enjoyed this story, it was a breath of fresh air and I loved it from start to finish. There was an actual plot that was exciting, interesting characters good bad and ugly, angst, people falling in love (no meeting and wam bang I love him crap!) all written beautifully, it flowed. I only spotted a couple of editing errors & spelling mistakes no biggy. If you like strong, fiesty heroines who can also love and care deeply for her man without losing herself (that's so important) in a historical setting of castles, sword wielding warriors, bloodly battles, intrigued and assassins then this is your book! I have another fav author!
Bought this book in March, but I had second thoughts about reading it for some reason. I had a 10-hour travel day on Sunday, and after going through the TBR books on my Kindle, I decided to go with this one. Not sure what I was expecting from this book, but it was good! Not sure I've read anything else like it - and I read a lot.
The book was long (which I liked!), but the storyline was so good, that it didn't feel as long as it is. Jaisyn and Vulcan faced a lot of challenges on their journey to love, but nothing was prolonged or drawn out, which you might expect from a book with 500+ pages.I think the author did a good job of keeping the story moving, and keeping things interesting. And the love scenes? Lawdhammercy! There were several (yay!), and they were all hot (YAY!!!)! Definitely glad I decided to read this one. Added a lot of spice to my long day of travel.
Can't wait for Isolde's story. Or whatever is next from Ms. Dubrinsky.
This is the fantasy love tale of Jaisyn head strong princess of Lytheria and stubborn Vulcan king of Morden.
The good: So surprised how much I liked this book, though I'm obsessed with "Song for ice and fire" by George R.R. Martin, I just wasn't sure I would like another epic fantasy. So, so in love with this story; strong heroine, twists and turns, action and a good looking hero. Yes, please!
I'm jus sayin: I'm so in love with V.D. right now. All of her books are good reads; well developed and interesting characters that can be both romantic and strong without making the story feel contrived . First Viktor, now Varian/Vulcan so in love with these manly men who have a sensitive heart and an adult imagination.

I didn't understand some of the reviews that I've read in regard to Jaisyns submitting to Vulcan. It truly was a fantastic read. Jaisyn was a strong women, I wouldn't say that she submitted to Vulcan, I would say that Vulcan had to submit to Jaisyn. She was trained to be a strong woman. She trained as a soldier, a warrior and she was great at it. I loved her sense of humor, I loved her strength and judge of character. At times she could be a little too stubborn, but hey, she's a strong-willed person. I absoluetly loved the drama of their relationship. I loved the back and forth between Vulcan and Jaisyn. I loved the arguments, the fights, the joy, the pain. It just felt so real. Like a real relationship between two people within that era. I'm never disappointed in Violette Dubrinsky books and can't wait for the second book to this series.
LOOOOOOVED THIS BOOK! it was very well written and i could barely put it down all week! I love Historical fiction Romances!!! This is one of the best! Violette i need book two aka Isolde story!!!
Started to read this and just could not finish it. Story line was okay, but I just can not read something that can not use better descriptive terms than what a grade schooler would use for body parts. This is the second book from this author that I have tried to read, and now wish I had not paid full price for either of them!
I chose this book because I really enjoy Gillette Dubrinsky's writing. This book was great not only because it was a nice lengthy story, it also had great development of characters, and provided consistent action throughout the book. I can't wait for the follow up. Hurry up V. lol.
This book was good to me. I can't wait for part 2.. I like Violette books. If your looking for a good I don't like you, and I care if you like me. How dare he take a mistress under my nose, wife a undercover swords women. This is the book for you. You will not put it down till the end.
This is a good book that explores the difficulties of being a an independent women in times of old. The age old problem of feminism vs chauvinism is tackled, in a good way. I enjoyed this book very much and would recommend it to my friends.
This was a really great read. I enjoyed it. Vulcan grew on me :D.... I loved how him and Jaisyn both fell in love after everything. Lydia was a piece of work. Whoosah. I wanted to strangle her. I'm hoping we get Varian's story soon. He was so sweet.
It reads as medieval erotica action-adventure. The relationship/struggle between Jaiyson and Vulcan throughout the book was formulated and flowed like none I've read anywhere. This could easily be a series on HBO like the Borgias or something. It was truly an impressive read.
At first, I hated Jaiyson. Loathed her. But she grew on me. The read turned out better than I thought. Very reminiscent of the first romance books I read in 8th grade lol
Good read. I was impressed with how the book flowed. A little dry toward the middle but lots of action. Really good read. A really big cliffhanger. Would love to read the next book.
