This was a fabulous storyline and enjoyed seeing the characters stories unfold and how the camaraderie of women sticking together and forging friendships when they were thrown together due to the situation they found themselves in.

Each character was unique and relatable as their story developed and this book has so many touching moments both sad and happy and would love a sequel to see how the characters stories progress.

A story of love friendships and support and how the little things can make a big difference. And that money cannot buy happiness.

I have to say, I struggled to engage with this book. The characters are meant to be in their 30s - think young and lively, out on a hen party. But the author's choice of words makes them sound like they're over 50! 😳
Their vocabulary is complex and sophisticated, often leaving me baffled. In fact, the narrative was so challenging that I didn't even reach the second chapter. I hate to say it, but I quickly got bored and lost interest. The storytelling just wasn't for me.

I really enjoyed this book! It’s the story of three very different women, Beth, Koo and Lulu, who are all facing life-changing decisions. Beth and Koo are brides-to-be on their hen nights, and Lulu is the Maid of Honour on her cousin’s hen night. The girls wake up in a hotel room in Bath the next day, and have to piece together the events of the night before. They make a spur of the moment decision to stay in a lovely cottage in the lakes, while they try to figure out the choices that they need to make. I really like the characters in this story, they are very well drawn, and the situations that each one faces really captured my interest. I found something to like in each character, as well as things I didn’t like so much, which made them all the more real for me. The story is well thought out, well written, and very descriptive, and is full of humour, love, romance and heartache. A very enjoyable story, that once started, I couldn’t put down

Wow! Where to start? I loved this from start to finish. What a way to start a book! Three strangers waking up in a strange hotel and all due to get married or be in a wedding on the same date. I loved how they instantly bonded and set about searching for how they came to be with each other.

Each lady had a different story and they were easy to identify with. I have to say I was a bit annoyed with their parents (may be except Lulu’s dad who supported her). Beth has a mum who set her happiness and public face above what her daughter wanted and Koo’s dad was only interested in what the family looked like to the public and only saw the bad in people. The support they found in each other they should have gotten from their nearest and dearest. However it helped bond them all and the different ages made them into a new patchwork family.
I really loved that Beth wasn’t phased by the celebrity status of Koo and her money and I found what she and Lulu organised for her in the budget one day trip to Florence very sweet and touching and Koo got so much more from it than if more money had been thrown at it. I would of really loved to have seen more of Judd he seemed like a great guy and I loved how Koo describes him and how he loves and supports her - when he turned and walked out of their wedding after she whispers in his ear for them to leave was great, how many other grooms would walk away from their wedding with no questions asked?
I can’t wait for the next instalment to see if we get to see more of these three couples or meet new ones.

I received a free copy of, Summer Dreams at the Lakeside Cottage, by Erin Green, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Koo, Beth, and Lulu find themselves in bed together the day after their hen parties. The book started out well, til one girl was sleeping with another mans girl, who is actually engaged to be married. Ridiculous at this day and age.

Three women are brought together when they each escape their own nightmare hen parties. They find themselves in the same house, wearing each others hen party attait with no clue how they came to meet, how they got where they are or what has happened. But together they help each other discover what they really want out of life, and who they really are.

This book was a charming and heart-warming summer read. The first third was a little slow but I'm so glad I stuck with it because I galloped through the last third in one sitting. The three main characters were relatable and I particularly identified with the older two of them. However, I felt that each character's narration should have been a bit more individual to them. The story is told from the point of view of the three characters, so throughout the book they each speak in first person depending on whose POV is being read at the time. The issue with this is that each of them uses very similar language and has an extensive vocabulary, which is a bit jarring given that they are supposed to be different ages and come from very different backgrounds. A book that managed this style of writing well is 'This Charming Man' by Marian Keyes. I also felt that the story could have pursued more interesting directions at times.

All in all, this book was entertaining, uplifting, and at times funny and surprising.

So a nun, a flapper girl and a woman in a bathtub wake up in the same room together... and I have to say that sounds like it should be the start of an epic joke.

But what is is the very memorable start of this new Erin Green book, for the readers, not the characters as they initially have absolutely no idea why none of them even recognise the room or how they got there.

It soon becomes apparent they all left separate hen nights and are all either due to be married, or is a maid of honour, all for weddings at 2pm the following Saturday.

What follows is a story of self discovery for all three of our leading ladies, Beth, Koo and Lulu, who are all completely different, from different walks of life and all go through a massive journey of the heart and of working out what their heart desires throughout this story. And amazingly for most of the book we only hear about the men third hand.

For although this is about female friendship, building new bonds, it's not necessarily a romance, more an exploration of various relationships.

And honestly I couldn't have predicted any of this book if I had tried. I love the fact they decide to retreat to a Lakeside cottage for a rather different "hen week" and to try to get their heads straight, and the fact they have to tell each other their back stories is a great device for letting the reader in on the same info.

This is such a different premise for a book, and I loved it for it. I enjoyed getting to know our ladies, and seeing what decisions they would come to. And I'm already looking forward to the sequel, which I have just opened but not started reading on my kindle! Can't wait to see what will be in store next time.

Highly enjoyable story.

Thank you to Headline and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

In this fabulous fun book, we meet 3 ladies - Koo, Lulu, and Beth - who have all ended up together after each being out separately on a hen party. They have no idea how, why or when and this book gives us the answers in the most fantastic and very entertaining way. A brilliant storyline, with fabulous characters who each have their own individuality but also share quite a few things in common too. The way the book brings the characters together, involving further characters – family and friends and the community - and revealing the mystery behind how they all ended up together was superb writing. I loved the book, so entertaining, moving and uplifting. Three strangers become friends and go through so much together. Even though they have not known each other long, I think the three friends are going to be friends for life. Their support and love for each other was so evident in the book - they all helped each other weave their way through their tangled lives. Koo, Lulu, and Beth's friendship has such a solid concrete foundation that I have no doubt they will be there for each other always and have lots more adventures together!

I am a huge fan of Erin Green's books and this was another very enjoyable read! I felt part of the friendship group and felt as if I was with them enjoying their celebrations!

A huge 5 stars from me!

We meet Koo, Lulu, and Beth, who escaped their own hen-do nightmare only to wake up together in a strange hotel room. They wear each others hen night attire and haven't got a clue when and how they ended up together. The three women, coming from different backgrounds and each dealing with their own wedding dilemma, bond piecing together last night events. Not wanting to return to their own hen party's, the three decide to create their perfect hen-do and escape to a beautiful Lake District cottage. There a week full of rollercoaster emotions, soul-searching, surprise visitors, mini trips, and exploring new-found friendships leads them to their decisions.

This was my first read by Erin Green, and I am 100% sure it won't be the last. The plot is enjoyable, and flows well, despite being told from the point of view of each of the three main characters. Her characters are dealing with their own insecurities, and their struggles and problems are explored really well.

'Summer Dreams at the Lakeside Cottage' is a perfect story full of hope, self-discovery, love and friendship.

Thank you @netgalley, @headlinebooks and @erin_green_author for the advanced copy.

This is a funny, touching and enjoyable story about the importance and power of female friendships, both new and old.
The three very different women, all at important stages of their love-lives, are well-drawn and believable -flaws and all- and help each other come to major decisions.
I particularly enjoyed the way the author captured the essence of female friendship and selflessness of true friends.
I thoroughly recommend this book and would love a follow-up to see how things work out for everyone!

Three weddings and a cottage

How do three women, who don’t know each other, come to wake up in a room at a high end hotel after being on their hen does? Each has doubts about their respective weddings and whether they are ready for their individual big day. Twists and turns make this a refreshing romantic read as they decide where their futures may lead.

Found this a little bit hard to get on with and I don’t know why other than I couldn’t relate to any of the 3 female characters. None were particularly likeable but there must have been something as I kept going with the books.

This is the first in the series and will read the rest as I enjoy Erin Green’s books. The book was well written and there was always something happening.

Im not sure about the unusual premise of this story; three women previously unknown to eachother wake up in a room together and take off on an extended hen ‘week’ to try to gather their thoughts before the big day. It was all very far fetched and off the wall but the writing was good and it was enjoyable. Just can’t get over the bazar setting. I think three stars is fair.

It’s a very good book, but not my usual read. Wasn’t until the last 6ish chapters that I was hooked, I had to force myself to finish so I can start a different book.
Guessed how it was going to end. Proper chick lit book.

It narrates the experiences of three distinct women – Beth, Koo, and Lulu – grappling with pivotal life choices. Beth and Koo are brides-to-be celebrating their hen nights, while Lulu serves as the Maid of Honour at her cousin's celebration. The morning after a night in a Bath hotel, the trio decides spontaneously to stay in a charming lakeside cottage as they navigate their decisions. The well-crafted characters and engaging situations drew me in, offering a mix of likable and flawed traits that added authenticity. The story is meticulously planned, eloquently written, and rich in humor, love, romance, and heartbreak – an enthralling tale that held my attention from start to finish.
