The Simpsons has been enjoying a lot of extra publicity with this year being its 25th anniversary. So when the moment came to get some books to pad my bargain bookstore purchase so I could reach the minimum amount for a discount, I grabbed this trade paperback priced at least than a dollar.

The trade collected the first four issues of The Simpsons comicbook. It is an anthology of stories that either ape the pacing and style of the animated series or it has some original stories that would never pass muster for viewing in network televisions. The latter I find interesting and features characters and tales such as Krusty the Klown in a Jim Sterako Nick Fury spoof or the Otto the busman as a busman in a post-apocalyptic world. Really interesting stories.

I've recently read a single-issue comic book, it the Treehouse of Horrors annual and from it I surmised that the comic books eventually departed from telling derivative stories because the comic book was awesome. Still, this is an interesting collection of early The Simpsons comic book stories and is a good read for any fan of the series.

This gem makes me feel like there is life after a show when writers change from the show.

This is my 4th Simpsons comic and this the best so far. Its really, really funny just like the longest running show The Simpsons(1987-till date). The book is a set of 4 comics set together. It's really fun if your a Simpsons fan too because there are old villains coming back. In the first comic, Homer becomes a giant and creates problems(as usual), Sideshow Bob comes back to haunt Bart, Liza and Bart set on a mystery and a classic Simpson tale.

My favorite character is [Bart]holomew JoJo Simpson, like every Simpsons fan. He is a witty, funny, menacing and a lovable 8 year old kid. He is a clad in an orange T-shirt and blue trousers. He is every where in the comic as he is a very important character just after Homer. Though he creates trouble for Homer and Homer for him, they both love each other. Marge likes Liza but to share the same with Bart too.

My favorite quote is 'I'll always love you, you big doofus. What ever or whoever you are.' - Marge to Homer after he becomes normal after becoming a giant. That's really sweet. Marge has always been shown as a loving house wife always looking out for her family (like Hera and Isis).

If I learnt anything from this Simpson's comic is that family does matter. Like Marge, you have to be the glue that binds your family together whatever troubles you have to endure and what ever bad qualities your family may have. You just love them and that's all you have to do.

I would put this comic on THe Bingo Board 'YOUR OWN CHOICE'.

I used to collection Simpsons Comics when I was younger and have recently started collecting them again on Amazon. Extravaganza, I believe, was the first collection to be released in 1994. Surprisingly, the second hand copy I ordered from Amazon was in excellent condition. The stories are varied and enjoyable, some silly, but most entertaining. They include Homer becoming a giant thanks to an experiment by Mr. Burns, Bart coming face to face once again with Sideshow Bob, Selma having an affair with Homer (really?!?!) and a puma brought in by Principal Skinner to guard the school goes missing. It's also interesting looking at how the different artists draw the characters, some do it perfectly, others not so much!

Simpsons Extravaganza is a comic about comedic stories about the Simpsons. This book was not amazing for me but it was not terrible. The reason I did not really like this book is because I though it didn't really make much sense and didn't have a strong story line. I'd recommend this book only to people who enjoy reading comics.

Each comic is like reading an episode of The Simpsons, and if you're into the show, you're going to be into the comics. There's four editions in here, and four mini stories at the end of each. Really looking forward to reading each and every comic from here on out, being this is the first consolidated version!

This Simpsons book was a good book but I didn't like it as much as the other ones that I have read. This book had lots of funny parts throughout the book. I didn't find this book as interesting so i didn't find i liked the book as much as the others

I don't really watch the Simpsons, but I picked this up at a used bookstore for my nephew. Gives me some "cred" and increases my "coolness" at being able to understand some of his references! I liked the stories and the graphics.

Seriál miluji, sleduji ho od dětství, ale komix zaostává a vtipný rozhodně není. Pro fanoušky je to samozřejmost, ale všeho moc škodí :D

The Simpsons were made for TV. Maybe it's the medium that does not work. Most probably it is the French translation that feels weird.

A collection of the first 4 Simpsons Comics featuring:

The Amazing Colossal Homer
This one reads more like an entry from the Treehouse of Horror fanchise. Homer is embiggened by a special ray and runs amok. Lots of fun and giant underpants.

The Collector
From Bart Simpson's Creepy Crawly Tales, this is similar in feel to The Raven. A short tale sees Homer as an avid collector of comic books, with a fun twist at the end.

Cool Hand Bart
Bart is sent to jail and ends escaping chained to Sideshow Bob. Lots of fun and a big dig at the penal system

My Sister, My Homewrecker
Homer is accused of having an affair with Selma. A short tale, with a surprising revelation.

The Perplexing Puzzle Of Springfield Puma
The school mascot goes missing, who is the culprit. A fun whodunnit with some disturbing revelations about Martin Prince...

Krusty Agent of K.L.O.W.N.
A short spy thriller featuring Krusty...

It's In The Cards
Bart pulls a prank with baseball cards and Lisa and Bart also experience a role reversal when they get substitute teachers who treat them very differently. A lot going on in this one, could have been three separate stories (Homer's responsible for a lot of what happens).

Busman
A post-apocalyptic tale of Otto, Busman of the vampire-stricken wastes. Weird, but a lot of fun.

While the first volume of Bongo’s classic Simpsons comics collection is very apparent in not having the same writing team as the series, with multiple jokes and the overall plots never feeling as sharp or effortless, it makes up for that with wonderful comic art, and having fun with concepts they could never explore in the show.

Ranging from Bart being put in a cell with Sideshow Bob to Otto working as a bus driver during the apocalypse; it is fun, exploratory, and I am surprised I did not think to buy this sooner.

A fascinating way for die hard Simpsons fans like myself to see Springfield in a whole new way.

Je to asi divné číst komiks seriálu, který znám od dětství, ale mě to vážně bavilo, takže jsem si asi našel guilty pleasure…

It's fine. Some of it was fairly clever. Sometimes it felt like it was a bit paint-by-numbers. But there were some gags that made me chuckle.

Bought this YEARS ago and when I got it I didn't realise it was the Simpsons comics that are published monthly put into a graphic novel. I was rather upset because I'd wasted my money but then I resold it later on so it wasn't all that bad..lol

The Simpson Comics were totally fun to read but none of them made into an appearance in the Simpsons tv series so I recommend this book to all Simpson fans to have an experience of Simpsons fun in a book form.
