Yo, Joe! Cobra! Battle Files!

I bought this in its single comic book issues, but I chosen this TPB edition to make a better overall review.

This TPB edition collects “G.I. Joe: Battle Files” #1-3.

ONLY FOR YOUR EYES – CLASSIFIED

This book is a reference guide about the characters, weapons, technology and vehicles used in G.I. Joe franchise, by the brave soldiers of the Special Counter-Terrorist Group Delta (better known as G.I. Joe) and the insidious operatives of Cobra and its affiliate teams.

Originally published in three comic book issues, each assigned to: G.I. Joe (the soldiers), Cobra (the terrorists), and Weapons, Technology and Vehicles (used by both teams).

Each character or item, with a original illustration and a deep information about it.

With a large gallery of artists giving their talent to illustrate this guide.

THE JOES

You’ll read incredibly detailed background, featuring real names (when it’s not classified above your paygrade), their military ranks, their primary and secondary military specialties, their lifes before joining G.I. Joe and several of their most relevant missions.

You’ll find many of the most popular characters like: Duke, Flint, Scarlett, Lady Jaye, Snake-Eyes, Shipwreck, Spirit, Beach Head, Gung-Ho, Roadblock, etc…

Also, you’ll find the new recruits (in the Image Comics publication), those who died in combat, along with uneasy allies like The Oktober Guard.

Even the history of how the special ops team was founded and its chain of command.

In my humble opinion, the only the felt absents in this section was Sergeant Slaughter (most likely since it’s a real person, so they’d have to pay rights), Mutt & Junkyard (and with this, none animal sidekick (like Timber, Freedom and Polly) is mentioned or shown in the illustrations).

COBRA

You’ll have access to detailed background of the operatives in the terrorist organization of Cobra, along with its allies like The Dreadnocks and MARS (Destro’s personal organization).

You’ll find many of your favorite villains like: Cobra Commander, Destro, The Baroness, Tomax & Xamot, Storm Shadow, Major Bludd, Firefly, Zartan, Serpentor, etc…

Also, you’ll get the different special type of troopers of Cobra: like the BATS, Cobra officers, Neo-Vipers, Crimson Guards, etc…

WEAPONS, TECH & VEHICLES

Finally, you’ll have first-hand info about the coolest ítems used by G.I. Joe and Cobra.

Popular vehicles like: (in the case of G.I. Joe) SHARC, XP-14F Skystriker, Skyhawk, Snow Cat ; (in the case of Cobra) Flight Pod, HISS tank, Night Raven, Rattler, etc…

Also, information about weapons, military technology and even compound schematics.

I think that the felt absents here were the USS Flagg and the Conquest X-30 fighter.

Kind of like Order of Battle from the original series. This one was cool because it caught you up to speed on everything that happened to all the characters since the first order of battle. The art work wasn’t so great at first but it got better as the collection went along.
