Alyssa Satin Capucilli was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1957. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, and pursued her interest in dance, becoming a professional dancer and dance instructor. Though Capucilli had written stories, poems, and even puppet shows as a child, she didn't consider a career as a writer until after her own two children were born. To this day she sees herself as both a dancer and a writer, and the two professions complement each other nicely: dancing is, in her words, “telling stories in another way,” and readers of her children's books can attest to the rhythm of her language. Since 1994, she has written more than 15 books for children, and her work has been translated into French, Hebrew, Afrikaans, Greek, and Bulgarian.

Capucilli lives in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, with her husband and children. They have a chocolate Labrador retriever named Huckleberry, who likes to watch the author at work.

A wonderful storybook for beginning readers! My daughter loves these cute little stories! I like them because they are helping her learn to read! She read the whole book, cover to cover, one story at a time!

These stories aren’t the type that I fall in love with as an adult, but they are solidly pleasant to read at bedtime. Kait can read them 75% of the way herself, which she loves, Maddie can read meow, woof and bow wow every time they come up and so it’s a really sweet reading experience.

The four year old just loves this one. It's really for new readers so I don't love it as a read aloud. By the time kids are reading they will be beyond this story mostly. I have to give it three stars because my son requests it ever.single.night so there must be some magic in there I don't see.

Fun simple stories for early readers. The pictures are darling and account for two of the stars. My 4 year old niece absolutely adores it.

You have to "woof woof" every two sentences or so, and you got some old school pencil to paper illustrations... so yeah I'm a fan

Biscuit
We have fallen in love with Biscuit from the Chick-fil-a board book and now also the Kindle Fire book apps and so we are delighted to read more. Biscuit is the original little yellow puppy story I believe and it is the first one found in the Biscuit Storybook Collection.

Biscuit is a fun loveable book character that had jumped right in to my fiddler, almost preschoolers heart and imagination. while reading about this puppy that needs just one more thing before he goes to bed it is perfect as we can relate to her own reluctance to sleep.

Biscuit from the My First I Can Read! books is a great gentle introduction to fun stories that I truly enjoy sharing with my AppleBlossom as we read it again and again.

Biscuit Wins a Prize
Cute adventure with our little yellow puppy friend watching his natural puppy antics. Just makes you want to snuggle.

This is the second story included in the Biscuit Storybook Collection, also a My First I Can Read! selection.

Biscuit's New Trick
This Biscuit reader is great. We often read Olivier Dunrea's Peedie that slides in the mud so being able to see Biscuit slide in the mud in his effort to master his new trick or skill brought out much animation from my daughter. Biscuit brings smiles to us all.

This is the third story included in the Biscuit Storybook Collection and a My First I Can Read! selection.

Biscuit's Birthday
The description of a consumable book does not fit what I'm reading. However there is probably various versions. Another cute story to share with Biscuit. Also included in the Biscuit Storybook Collection.

Biscuit's Picnic
Biscuit is in the thick of it all as per usual with this one. Fun and funny. Another one in the Biscuit Storybook Collection.

This is an all time favorite in our house among the pre-school set. Rebecky gave me my first Biscuit book when Aubrey was little and it has stood the test of time, though I recommend buying a hardcover collection as here, because my kids loved the little paperbacks to pieces in no time. I think the draw is the read along format that two year olds can memorize and read to themselves, not to mention the sweet little puppy and his various animal and human friends. Woof Woof.

I remember reading these stories as a child. My dad would often read them to me as well, so it has a nostalgia feel to it. Besides the fact that it's a child's book, the stories didn't follow up on much. Nothing for the kids to work up on since there was never any small conflict the kids could learn from from what I read. Still cute and precious.

Catherine really seems to enjoy this book and it was the first one she grabbed this morning from her new library book stack. It's pretty cute, but I wonder what negative lessons it's teaching her about the success of bed-time-delaying tactics.

My 14 month old son loves this book. We read the stories several times a day because this is his new favorite. When I try to read him one of his old favorites he will push it away and grab for this one.
