Cet essai devait à l'origine figurer dans le troisième volume de L'Obsolescence de l'homme, oeuvre maîtresse de Günther Anders, volume qui n'a jamais vu le jour.
Ce texte à demi dialogué, on pourrait dire théâtral, se motnre riche en aperçus de tous genres, sous-tendu par une dialectique toujours surprenante. Un essai magistral, pratiquant l'exagération et le paradoxe comme sources d'insurrection permanente contre une époque glaciaire.
Un texte classique au sens fort : à lire en classe, pour l'instruction des générations qui viennent.

Günther Anders (born Günther Siegmund Stern) was a German philosopher, journalist, essayist and poet. He was trained in the phenomenological tradition, he developed a philosophical anthropology for the age of technology, focusing on such themes as the effects of mass media on our emotional and ethical existence, the illogic of religion, the nuclear threat, the Shoah, and the question of being a philosopher. In 1992, shortly before his death, Günther Anders was awarded the Sigmund Freud Prize.
