Sönke Neitzel is a German historian who has written extensively about the Second World War.
Neitzel was educated at the University of Mainz and is currently Professor of Military History at the University of Potsdam, having moved there from the London School of Economics in 2015. He has also held posts at the University of Karlsruhe, University of Bern, and the University of Saarbrücken in Germany and Switzerland, and was briefly Professor of Global Security at the University of Glasgow in 2011/12.

He is editor of the journal German History in the 20th Century and has written several books such as Soldaten: On Fighting, Killing and Dying: The Secret Second World War Tapes of German POWs based on recordings of German POWs held at Trent Park. Neitzel edited the book Tapping Hitler's Generals (with Harald Welzer (de)).

DNF at 50%
خیلی پراکنده بود و به هیچ عنوان فرم داستانی نداشت (که البته با خوندن بقیه ریویو ها انگار این یک جور مزیت به حساب میاد؟؟)

غنی، منسجم و منظم.

کتاب در فصولِ مجزا به مسیر منتهی به جنگ، خودِ جنگ، تلاش‌ها برای صلح، وضع سیاستِ داخلی و خارجیِ آلمان، وضع اقتصادیِ آلمان، شرایطِ صلح و مختصراً تأثیرات و میراثِ جنگ و صلح پرداخته است.

این اثر قصه‌گو نیست، چندان هم تحلیلی نیست، گزارشی‌ست پرمغز و روان در بافتاری معنادار از جنگِ جهانیِ اول با تمرکز بر آلمان.

حجمِ اثر مناسب است، گرچه جا داشت و ای کاش صد صفحه‌ای مفصل‌تر می‌بود. بسیار روان و خوش‌خوان است.

ای کاش کتابی با همین کیفیت در موردِ جنگِ جهانیِ دوم بیابم.
