I enjoyed this book so so much! It was a bit angsty, sweet, hot and really kinky.
It’s a romance between E‘ , a coding/gamer geek and Brian, an exfoodballer and now architect, who wants to give up control to someone (people who red the prequel first as me has a bit more background information here what really helped).
I loved E‘ and Brain so much both both were so sweet and charming in their own way. Both of the struggle with a lot of stuff, Brian needs to submit to someone to give up control and let himself just go and E‘ being on the autistic spectrum makes him want&needs to have constant control.
Both are looking for acceptance and a way to fulfill they desire, and they found it in each other.
And I really loved watching their relationship blossom and develop over their short time, and even if everything between them happed fast, it didn’t made it feel off. E‘s Dom side and Brian’s Sub side just clicked.

„No. You’re Brian Withshaw and you are in charge of your life and your body. Even when you give it to me to control your orgasms, your body is yours.”
“Fucking hell, E… But my heart isn’t,” Brian choked out, a tear rolling down his cheek. “Neither is mine…” E said, swiping the wetness with his thumb.
Brian’s background with the assault he faced during a scene wasnt really detailed and I’m glad for it, but even after year Brian suffered because of it he never was able to find someone where he could trust them to take care of him the way he needed without him really hurting. But E‘ was able to do it, when they had a scene E‘ first priority was always Brian, as it should be for a Dom, he constantly checked up on him and communicating, for Brian was these something new. And this was so sad to read…to know that Brian had never people valuing his boundaries or his wishes, when it came to his desires.
The sex scenes were pretty intense and absolutely breathtaking hot. I loved that they both experimented a lot with kinks, tools and props such as with docking, light piss kink, monster dildos and some other kinky stuff.

What the book told me
- Ernesto was going on a blindfolded date, and when both parties enjoyed the conversation, they'd stay
- Ernesto and Brian both came with hopes for a potential relationship
- Ernesto never had sex at home
- Ernesto never had sex without planning it
- Ernesto had an issue with germs and fluid exchange
- Ernesto always had safe sex only
What the book showed me
- The questions were lame, the conversation was stilted and Ernesto didn't seem to think much of his date. Yet they both decided they wanted to stay and take off their blindfolds
- Instead of a date, they had a hookup. One that was expected to be a one time thing. Except they met through a dating app for potential relationships, so why would they have a one time hookup?
- Ernesto took Brian home for sex without a second thought because Brian was so special
- Ernesto had a spontaneous hookup with Brian
- Ernesto hated kissing, because of the germ-filled fluid exchange. Except with Brian, because Brian was so special
- Ernesto demanded they use a condom for oral sex. That was of course completely fine. However, not even three minutes later he decided to rim Brian without protection and then fucked him bareback. Again, because Brian was so special
It was like the author gave Ernesto a personality, only to deviate from it at every turn because it didn't fit a certain narrative. His personality gave me whiplash. Also, having an exception to every single rule or trait makes no sense.
Either give Ernesto a personality and stick to it, or change his personality so it fits the narrative.
I was told a lot of things. I was shown the complete opposite. I started this book because I wanted to read about dating, not another hookups-to-lovers story. Would not recommend.

Another brilliant book from K.C. Carmine. I was lucky enough to obtain an ARC for review!
The Blindfold Date was a matryoshka of great things; a contemporary MLM romance with simple worldbuilding, a neurodivergent lead who was portrayed organically and relatably, When Blind Dates Work Out, and tons of creative, safe, and well written steamy scenes.
I, uh, had never encountered a blow job with condoms on scene before, so that was a revelation. E's taste for cleanliness and care for both partners' safety in terms of STIs was both grounding as good real-life advice, and a nice inclusion. My ND brain will sometimes get caught up when it comes to erotica, on the nitty gritty of 'how safe or sanitary is this act' and I felt all of that taken care of with such sensible writing that didn't dwell on it either.

I like how the partners just melt into each other after sorting out the original identity reveal/mortification post the (very-creative) way the blindfold date club arranged things. Not sure if that's a real thing but subtracting the cringe and embarassment from seeing a failed blind date later on makes total sense. It was great to see Brian so readily accept E's neurodivergence - as it should be. It's bonus material, not a flaw.
That was the thing about this novella - it's cute and charming and relatable and realistic and it's also sexy as hell. It's also a quick read, if that'll cinch the deal. Five stars.

It seems a good plan for E, a blindfold date. The voice of the guy was already attractive, a bit familiar maybe, pictures of a hot hunk comes to memory.
They had a pleasant talk, when they take off their blindfolds E is in shock, a prank?
Brian was impressed by their conversations and the guys' voice, he was curious. Why on earth did he run away? They seem to click so well.
This read tells the story of two, at first sight ordinary, guys. Two amazing guys who are delightful special. I loved them, I loved their characteristics, I loved their dynamic, I loved Brian’s submissive personality, I loved E’s personality and certainly his Dom side.
The scenes were intense, they were hot af together. E is everything Brian wants and needs.
Brian wasn’t treated well in the past, E could tell by the way he acts and was surprised by E’s question about how he’s doing, if he’s still okay, etc.
Brian is a sweetheart, never demanding, easygoing, fun, and head over heels for E.
E is on the Autistic spectrum, I loved how it showed throughout this story.
While it showed in really everything they were very fond of each other, and there’s a hfn, I would have loved some solid words at the end, but that’s me, I accept the author’s choice of course!
Overall a quite attractive narrative, nicely balanced, entertaining, hot, well written, I enjoyed reading very much!

Ernesto, or “E” as his friends and family call him, is many things: an early 30s gay man, video game designer, unabashed nerd, and on the Autistic spectrum. He also happens to be a casual Dom, which appeals to his strong urges to have full control over all aspects of his personal life and social interactions. But we meet Ernesto at the start of a “Blindfold date” - a way to meet a potential partner without the pressure of conforming to expected outer beauty standards. Both parties are blindfolded and allowed to ask 3 questions to determine if the connection is more than skin deep.
Brian is a former footballer, now architect, seeking true connection. As an openly bisexual man, he’s tried to find that person for years… someone who can help him explore his desires for pain in pleasure, who can take him to the edge of bliss. Unfortunately, the lovers he has found have provided plenty of pain, but not the pleasurable kind. Brian is hoping the Blindfold date will help him to find that deeper connection in another soul.
The date is effortless; flirty, honest, and it has that spark of potential. But with blindfolds removed, E realizes that his date is his former Uni crush - the man who most likely had no idea E existed then, and certainly couldn’t be interested in him now. As E tries to flee, Brian gives chase - desperate to not lose the first promise of hope he’s had… for the first time ever, if he’s being honest.
What I liked: this MM romance is zingy hot! The sexy times will fog up any geek’s glasses within a 5 mile radius! But their connection comes through just as strong; it’s insta-lust, but not in a dramatic or forced way. I appreciate that the author celebrates both LGBTQ and neurodiversity in her characters. Both are empathetic and sensitive to each other’s feelings, comfort, and positively building trust. This book is a straight line from the meet-cute to the HEA, without a dramatic hurdle or forced breakup interlude.
What I didn’t like: I love the premise of the story and the character development - I just wanted more! More setup to each’s motivation to use the dating service, perhaps more in their relationship or to face a big hurdle to overcome… things seemed to work out rather easily and in the best possible outcome - it’s a Pollyanna world. But did any of this stop me from reading! Heck no! It’s a great story outside of my little nitpicks.

E and Brian have a bit of a rough start, a misunderstanding that thankfully doesn't get drawn out. Communication, a novel idea! E and Brian are both a bit odd. Before you find out E has autism, you can tell something is a bit different with him. He's very particular with things. The autism reveal is not surprising to anyone familiar with who knows someone with autism. Yay for representation! E is great. He is particular but incredibly sweet, kind, caring, and sexy. Brian is awesome as well, the muscular sub. I love when it's not the expected! He craves submission but is clueless about safe, sane, and consensual. He doesn't know the basics of d/s. Brian is incredibly trusting and sweet, bold in his trust and giving in his body. I adore how he accepts E for who he is and is okay with how he needs things to be. If that means no surprises, that's fine. Brian rolls with E's punches (figuratively). They are two awkwardly shaped puzzle pieces that snap together perfectly.
How could I not adore a book about a sexy slightly odd nerd dom and the subbiest jock sub ever? Plus, I get a chuckle out of the term "footie"

This was good, not great, and those last two chapters changed the whole feel of the book for me… in the best way possible.
I liked that the bdsm scenes at their homes and that made it more intimate and spontaneous, and so goddam hot, The Bedroom chapter was so so hot, through the fuckin roof, absolutely adore the flogger and spreader scene.*fanning myself furiously * . E was very careful and very thorough with the prep and aftercare, not only in this scene but in everything.
I feel strange about the way the autism rec was portrayed, for someone who demands a bj with a condom, and is ok with a sex club where it’s all bareback? Things are very inconsistent to likes and dislikes with E, but I’m not a expert. Also Brian as a victim of sexual and physical abuse to go on a blind date?

Overall Opinion
After reading The Lonely Date, I could not WAIT to jump in and read Brian and E's happy ever after! These two had me gripped by my soul and I devoured it in one sitting. From the get go, they had such fiery chemistry and I am surprised my kindle didn't ignite. The authors portrayal of E's autism was done perfectly and respectfully. There was no drama or angst, and it worked perfectly how the dynamics between E's Dom side and Brian's sub side clicked. I am not normally a fan of BDSM but K.C. made it enjoyable! I really loved watching their relationship blossom and develop! It was an overall wonderful experience reading it, and I cannot wait to continue the series!

June 27, 2022I tried to like this book. I really did. But the story and writing were a jumble and there was just so much that didn't work for me.
First of all, I'm very unhappy with the representation of autism in this book. It seemed like the author had taken a few overly generalized autism traits, used them over and over, and thought that is the whole picture. It is not.
It did not shine a good light on people with autism and was mostly about not liking germs. What's more, all of Ernesto's autism traits seemed to disappear when he was with Brian. In just one weekend. Let me tell you: that's not how it works.
Ernesto and Brian were supposed to have this amazing chemistry and connection, but for all their spending so much time together, I never felt it. The story seemed lust-focused, Ernesto's and Brian's interactions were... odd? Awkward? And although they instantly acted like a couple, they couldn't communicate at all.
Every time Brian felt vulnerable and he opened up, he expected Ernesto to send him away and to not be interested in him anymore, even when they were in the middle of sexual activities.
Their characters felt flat and I just couldn't feel any interest in them and their story.
I shouldn't be surprised that my reaction when I saw the chapter titles ('the house', 'the sofa', 'the work', etc) appeared to be basically my reaction to the whole story.
In chronological order, here is a list of other things that did not work for me:
- E/Ernesto. Ernesto says everyone calls him E (and he likes to be called that) but Brian still used Ernesto most of the time, only occasionally calling him E. E and Ernesto were also both used in the descriptive writing. Author, just pick one, and stick with it.
- Darling. Ernesto drops the d-word the first night. And a couple of times during the following week. Still, they hadn't talked about what they were to each other. Also, why is darling written with a capital d?
- Germs. After Ernesto walks away from their date he doesn't want to continue, Brian follows him home, Ernesto invites him up, and they have sex. Huh? Throughout the story, the author makes a huge point of Ernesto's not-liking-germs, especially exchanging them with people he doesn't know, and not being a fan of saliva-exchanging-kisses, so it's really not possible for Ernesto to rim a stranger on their first night or to not care about come on his sofa. I know this from experience. Not okay.
- Work. So, after their night together and having plans to spend the weekend together, Ernesto is called to work on the Saturday, and Brian tags along. Now, I don't know of any work places where it's okay to just bring someone who hangs around, waiting until you're finished with work, and I didn't understand why Brian couldn't just spend a few hours on his own.
- Soap in their manly parts. This is featured in many gay romances and I'm sure the authors have no idea how it feels. It isn't nice. It isn't erotic. It stings. It's uncomfortable. And really, really not what a man wants for his penis and hole.
- Ernesto's reaction to Brian's past abuse. This was really not okay and put a big damper on me trying to like Ernesto. Ernesto didn't acknowledge Brian's emotions, thoughts and decisions; just said he was wrong and persuaded Brian to report the abuse to the police even though Brian didn't want to. NOT OKAY.
- The epilogue. It didn't add anything. It contained nothing. It was not the happy feeling I want in an epilogue.
I had hoped the BDSM would be enough for me to save the story but when I found myself uninterested in and skimming the last, extensive sex scene, I knew it was a lost cause.
Then there was this:
A drawer full of spoons? Uhm? Is this a saying I'm not familiar with?
I see many others like this story and am very glad about that.
This review is my opinion and reading experience, and I don't mean any harm by it.
First of all, I'm very unhappy with the representation of autism in this book. It seemed like the author had taken a few overly generalized autism traits, used them over and over, and thought that is the whole picture. It is not.
It did not shine a good light on people with autism and was mostly about not liking germs. What's more, all of Ernesto's autism traits seemed to disappear when he was with Brian. In just one weekend. Let me tell you: that's not how it works.
Ernesto and Brian were supposed to have this amazing chemistry and connection, but for all their spending so much time together, I never felt it. The story seemed lust-focused, Ernesto's and Brian's interactions were... odd? Awkward? And although they instantly acted like a couple, they couldn't communicate at all.
Every time Brian felt vulnerable and he opened up, he expected Ernesto to send him away and to not be interested in him anymore, even when they were in the middle of sexual activities.
Their characters felt flat and I just couldn't feel any interest in them and their story.
I shouldn't be surprised that my reaction when I saw the chapter titles ('the house', 'the sofa', 'the work', etc) appeared to be basically my reaction to the whole story.
In chronological order, here is a list of other things that did not work for me:
- E/Ernesto. Ernesto says everyone calls him E (and he likes to be called that) but Brian still used Ernesto most of the time, only occasionally calling him E. E and Ernesto were also both used in the descriptive writing. Author, just pick one, and stick with it.
- Darling. Ernesto drops the d-word the first night. And a couple of times during the following week. Still, they hadn't talked about what they were to each other. Also, why is darling written with a capital d?
- Germs. After Ernesto walks away from their date he doesn't want to continue, Brian follows him home, Ernesto invites him up, and they have sex. Huh? I see many others like this story and am very glad about that.

I just finished reading this wonderful book, lovely characters, Brian and Ernesto, they are amazing people...Brian being a kind, needy, hurt boy, in need of affection and acceptance...and we have Ernesto who is... charming, adorable in his way of seeing and understanding the world, people, relationships...he has just become one of my favorite characters in life! 😍
K. C. Carmine ❤️ is this author that I'm loving reading with each book. It's already the fourth book and all of them made me very emotional, my heart melted! Oh and heat...did I say this book is hot?!! Wow, it's hot!! 🔥🔥🔥

I really enjoyed this one. This book was just so much fun to read. It was so sweet and I really loved the characterization in this book. Every character just really jumped off the page and everyone was so lively and fun to read about. The romance in this book was super sweet too and I really liked the dynamic between the characters.

This is my first read by KC Carmine and i really enjoyed it.
I loved both E and Brain and how they just fit together both finding the completeness that they were looking for without knowing it. I also love how KC has titled each of the chapters 😍

I enjoyed The Blindfold Date and KC’s writing. It was vibrant and fun. A low-angst, lustful, light d/s romance between a coding/gamer geek and an ex-footballer turned architect who wants to let go of control. It starts with a fun twist on the meet-cute, where you actually go in blind for your blind date!
Ernest and Brian are both charming and sweet in their own way, looking for acceptance for their complete selves. And together they find that in spades. There is no major drama, just a sweet (and especially steamy) progression of their relationship and learning about one another.
There is a discussion of a past assault that isn’t too detailed and doesn’t take up too much of the page, but I will admit I didn’t love the reporting scene where Ernest used guilt to manipulate Brian into reporting it.
Overall an enjoyable story, and time well spent.

The Blindfold Date was sooo freakin good!! I loved the premise, unique to me. They meet on an app and go on a blind date. They’re both blindfolded and ask three questions, if they like the answers they take off their blindfolds and get to know one another. Expect E recognizes his date, and his date doesn’t remember him. E or Ernesto being Neurodivergent wasn’t new to me, but the author did a fantastic portrayal with their characterization. Brian was a college jock and subject to E’s fantasies. He’s not the same guy that E remembers, he seems almost insecure. The Blindfold Date was seriously good, sweet yet hot and steamy. I loved the communication between E and Brian. Overall, a fantastic story that was very well written! Highly recommend.

This book was absolutely a wonderful surprise for me! How Ernesto's personally with his autism is written in such an endearing and authentic manner. I love how this starts off with Ernesto giving up control just this once to try the blindfold dating! His initial reaction to Brian is priceless. I am not even a huge BDSM fan, but for these two it is steamy, sweet and fits perfectly. Brian is so accepting of Ernesto's ways! Ernesto was somehow adorable in his need to be in control and Brian turns out to be just what he needs in his life and in the bedroom. I read an arc and will definitely be keeping up with K. C. Carmine's books!

I was so happy to see this one. I really wanted Brian’s story. I’m glad that there was some more information about Mark. I hate when authors leave it unresolved in any way. Also I appreciated the author showing that body type doesn’t indicate a set personality trait. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

This book was so good. It’s sweet and sexy and an emotional rollercoaster, but not in a bad way for the reader at least. Brian has some trauma to deal with and Ernesto is the perfect man to help him heal. I loved this sweet story. The premise of their blind date is kinda cool too. Watching these two fall for each other so fast was just as good as watching Brian’s brother Brendan and his Hugh. (I loved that one too.). I would love to see these guys, as well as Brendan and Hugh again in future books to see how far they come. I love their relationship. I am also always on the lookout for books that include more neurodivergent characters in a positive way and this one definitely fits the bill. If we were all more tolerant and kind about our differences, this world would be a much better place.

I received an ARC of this book and proceeded to blow through it in just a couple of hours. E and Brian are couple goals, honestly. Brian fits into E’s life the way E deserves and the same can be said for E in Brian’s life. I loved knowing that Brendan, Brian’s brother, and Hugh from The Flower Arrangement we’re still together and happy. Having read briefly about Brian in TFA, “meeting” him in this story was a fun bonus. The angst was low, the heat was hot and the love was beautiful. I highly recommend if you want a cute, but hot and enjoyable book. I dare you not to fall in love with Brian and E. They’ll leave you wanting more, because I know I do.

E is able to provide Brian with the comfort and support he needs to start dealing with some abuse he suffered. They will stand together to build a life that they have been looking for and didn't think know if they would ever find.

I loved Brian and E and their dynamic was playful, sexy and passionate.
I liked the diversity and differences between the two and I like how K.C. gave us snippets into the minds of each character while balancing honest communication at just the right times! I loved these two and while I wish we could have seen them at the club, I look forward to any cameos if them in the future!!

The Blindfold Date by K.C. Carmine is a cute and very sexy story.
E and Brian go on a blindfold date with each other. They each answer 3 questions and if they like the answers they take off the blindfolds. This is a very clever idea. I totally applaud for originality. I love how it goes into how the restaurants are involved and the whole setup of how the blindfold date works. So thought out, this should really be a thing.
There is a lot of sex in this book. I am not complaining, I happen to like that but for some, it’s not there thing.
There is talk of assault in the story and for some this might be hard or triggering. Just a heads up for some who might needed it.
E and Brian are so cute. I love how quickly there relationship grows. They trust each other implicitly. And Talk about cute, Brian’s parents are so freaking cute I can’t handle it. All the side characters are great.

This has a lot of what I like - secret crushes, vulnerability, and banter and the important subjects like limits in play, when others cross your line it isn't your fault and consent.
Loved that the MC, E (Ernesto) was also the dominant and was neurodiverse and also a super smart game programmer. He went so far as to have him fill out a questionnaire of his limits, such a sweetheart.
His college crush Brian, was not what he thought. He had built up this macho guy in his head but he wanted what E could provide.
This book discussed healthy bdsm play but also a former partner who did not have rules and was trying to damage.

With this book the author gave us visual adult entertainment, but with words and a story to string it all together. Not even a sauna can raise as much heat or as often as you find in this book.

I absolutely love when a book completely surprises me the way this one did! It was a sweet and sexy romp with a light d/s side. I absolutely love jock/nerd stories, plus an MC who has ASD and is presented as a whole person instead of just a disability is soooooo welcome! I loved that E knew what he wanted and wasn’t ever infantilized the way so many authors tend to do with characters who have ASD. Brian was also so loving and wonderful. Add in a monster dildo collection and this was a fun read that will definitely add a new author to my list!

Loved this! I think without the prequel it would’ve felt a bit “instalove” but with that additional information it was really sweet. I really like the concept of blindfold dating and sort of wish it had lasted longer but this was really great.

I really enjoyed the kink in this, and being a sucker for both spanking and edging I’ll say K.C nailed it! E does an amazing job at looking after Brian, and he reads him so well. I’ve said earlier that the sex scenes was sizzling hot, but they where definitely erotic and emotional as well.
I’m happy to read that these two will appear in future stories, cause I definitely wanted more.
