I really enjoyed this book. It had plenty of elements to enjoy; romance, humour, supernatural, the occasional dip into the past and an abundance of beautiful descriptions of New England. I also liked the heroine, Liz, and the humour often came from her unique slant on life which made me chuckle throughout the story. I found the narrative well written except for the strange typos e.g. at one time Liz was written as Li, if as just the letter 'f' and hall as hail. Of course, I might have downloaded an old version of the story and these errors could have already been dealt with. Even so they didn't spoil the story and I believe Time After Time would make lovely summer reading. Recommended highly.
This book sucked big time. I love time travel romances and this wasn't that. It was a freaking ghost relative of the guy she loved. I also believe they were related. The ghost was the great grandfather of her love interest and he had impregnated her great aunt or something like that. I couldn't really track that. She was so irritating and I really didn't want her to end up with the guy. I wanted her to be alone because she deserved it. Oh well on to another book that I know will be better than this one.
Time after Time - New England Shore Stories - Jack and Liz) - Time After Time is the story of a Newport working girl who falls in love with one of the richest men in town--and the ghost of his ancestor. The heroine, a divorcee who's built a nice business for herself as a children's party planner, has hopes of breaking into the glitzier and more lucrative events of Newport society. Figuring that proximity is half the battle, she buys a tiny cottage adjacent to the huge estates of Bellevue Avenue.
As the heroine becomes more involved with her wealthy neighbors, she and her outlandish and amnesia-stricken friend, Victoria St. Onge, discover a sealed cache of old letters which detail the bizarre story of thwarted love almost a century old.
More and more prestigious parties are planned in Newport by our heroine and she becomes closer and closer to her neighbor, but at the same time a man begins appearing to her--the ghost of her neighbor's grandfather who planned to marry a working-class girl like herself all of those years ago, but was stopped by his family's ambitions and the mysterious death of his older brother... all of which is chronicled in the stash of old letters.
This was okay. I didn't like it as much as her other books, frankly because I thought the main character was a drama queen with a lot of baggage and unlike most of these books I read, I was actually wishing the guy walked, no RAN away and girl did not get guy. Funny how I felt this in my happily ever after mind :)
This is one of those books that never have a dull moment. You start with two main characters that are both pretty much stuck in their way sand beliefs, add into that a splash of mischief, then a splash of danger, a couple of friendly but intense ghost experiences and who have this book. It was a great read with great characters. Full review at http://allnightbooks.com/?p=327
Poor events planner falls in love with bachelor rich guy. Throw in a ghost and a few quirky characters and you have great fun and a happily ever after. I really enjoyed this book and looked forward to picking it up every day.
The plot line if this story was good, however, the execution was not great. I felt that this book could have been much better with some decent editing. The story felt a little disjointed and rambling and I quickly became bored with the two main characters.
Not a bad book...maybe a little drawn out. It was a quick read. She is my go to writer when I need something to read while waiting for other books to become available
Enjoyable story with some unique characters. I liked the ghost and they different mysteries worked into the story. Didn't really enjoy the character fights but I understood the comparison and why they were there.
