This started out interesting...but oh boy did it quickly zoom into the land of NOPE.
I'm going to ignore the weak suspense plot, because really...how much can you develop in under 60 pages?
I'm also going to ignore the insta-everything....lust, love...all of it. Why? Well, that's pretty much the formula for this series (so far), so I know what I'm getting when I pick these books up. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (btw...it didn't here).
Let's start with my first NOPE of the book.
You're stranded during a blizzard with a man you find attractive. To ride out the storm & the danger from the suspense element, you and Mr. Hottie are put up at his brother's apartment. Tired from the day, you wanna pack it up and call it a night. You're given a bedroom and you get ready for some serious sleep. But first, hey let's look around the room.
Oh, look over there...that's an interesting chest. Let's see what's inside. Holy crap it's a shit ton of sex toys! Wow, Mr. Hottie's brother likes to play. Oh wow, look at this huge vibrating dildo. Man, I sure could relieve some stress. I'm gonna power this bad boy up and use it.
HELLOOOOO!!!! Who the hell uses someone else's sex toys?? Maggie grabbed this thing and took the express train to Orgasm-ville without a second thought! Gross. Just gross. She didn't even wash it first for fuck's sake!
Okay....moving along to the next NOPE .
You and Mr. Hottie are obviously attracted to each other, have a lot of the same interests, and have some time to kill...might as well make the most of it. Mr. Hottie tells you that he heard you through the walls the night before, you explain that you found his brother's toys and couldn't resist & are intrigued with playing. Mr. Hottie's all "hell yeah!" and well naturally you spend your first full day together fucking like rabbits. I'm fully on board with this idea.
The next morning you wake up and find that your arms are restrained. Oh wait, so are your legs. Well would you look at that....you're also blindfolded. Mr. Hottie is all about "I'm gonna have my wicked way with you and play with some toys!" And away we gooooooo!
HOLD UP! You've got a man you've known roughly about 24-36 hours (almost all of which were spent fucking, sleeping, and eating...NOT talking) tying you up, taking away your eyesight AND he's gonna start sticking shit in you and clamping all your goodies...and NO ONE is talking about limits and safewords?!?!?!!? Hell no....hell to the fucking no.
I had high hopes for Riley's book, but this was just a whole mess of me reading and shaking my head.
Now I'm ready for Cooper's book (the owner of the pleasure chest that starred in this mess) and I'm really interested in seeing how he plays!

The thing is, Ms Hart does herself a disservice. She has really good plot ideas but wastes them on her formulaic, all the brothers are interchangeable, we all have an anal fixation characters.
This novella is about a valuable artifact and people who will stop at nothing to get it, but the story is completely secondary to the cabinet of sex toys Riley's brother keeps in his guest room. And, can I just say, ew, what woman in her right mind would use a stranger's sex toys?
Ok... so, most of these books run along the same lines... boy meets girl, boy fucks girl till she is completely sated and exhausted, girl has a problem, and boy fixes problem...

I liked these two. Riley and Maggie were cute and sexy. The sex scenes were hot hot HOT. I freaking love bondage and toys....BUT....I kind of got grossed out that both of them had no problem with using Cooper's toys. I mean...ewwwww...that is so unsanitary. Both Riley and Maggie don't know where those toys have been...WTF...and Cooper was all good about it too....I mean FUCK....you don't share toys...that's fucking gross.

I think I have a thing for professors.... I really like Thomas. But I am ready for Cooper... He sounds yummy a man in a uniform can't get wait to jump into it. These short stories are great but wish they were longer. I want to know more of each brother instead of fifty pages.

Hot and sexy
Enjoyed Riley's story, very exciting with suspense. Riley finally meets a fellow professor and she's all curves, smarts and sexy. She needs his help protecting a ancient artifact, and they have some fun on the run to protect the artifact.

Well...that was fast. I would say too fast but nonetheless entertaining. I always connected the image of a professor with a stuffy old man but Riley is none of this stuff.

I'm reading the series because I bought one of the books way down the line and I wanted to read about all the characters so I'm reading the series in order. I liked Dane, it was short but sweet and entertaining. Thomas was okay......and then we get this.
I'm not sure if I can even call it a story, there isn't much story there. The story element can probably be covered in two pages. Man meets girl, she has a priceless artefact. He wisks her away to his family home, stays in his brothers apartment, uses his sex toys (ewh), they catch the bad guy, fall madly in love, the end.
It just makes me wonder why I'm reading the books if there aren't any real characters or story in them? Plus it was £2, which I'm usually happy to pay for a book but this took me 30 minutes to read........I feel robbed.

I had trouble with the time line of this. I know they were released in a different order, but I'm reading them in sequence 1, 1.5,2 etc. Dane: Christmas wish was supposed to be their first christmas together, which they spend in the Mackenzie house. This book however seems to occur before then at the start of the holidays but then they are told not to spend the holidays at the Mackenzie house and as such move to Dane and Charlie's. (Dane and Charlie don't live together in their book). Riley also seems to have psychic powers as Dane doesn't know about the baby till christmas but here Riley is mentioning they will welcome another baby in Spring. Just a little confusing.

This one was just mediocre for me. Nothing really much else to say. It was short and just way too much sex for me that just didn't jive with the short story.

I liked that there was more story here. I thought it was weird at first that Maggie would just start randomly snoop through drawers, but now it makes sense because that is where she hides the pearl. I thought that Jon had something to do with the whole pearl situation.
Also after reading other reviews of this book. Yeah the whole "let's use these sex toys that might be used already" is really ewwwww. I would assume that they are not used, but you really would not know unless you own the toy.

If you're looking for a down and dirty, full of sexy times book then this is the one for you... i mean whoo im getting hot just thinking about it. This whole series is so hot damn sexy and full of sexy explicit times. I love it

Let me just say right now, I loves me some hot, nerdy, slightly kinky professor and Riley MacKenzie fits the bill through and through! Having made a name for himself as an accomplished archaeologist, Riley MacKenzie now spends most of his time in the classroom teaching. Riley is the smokin’ hot professor all the girls want to get their hands on but generally don’t. Fooling around with students is never a good idea but colleagues are a cat of different color.
Maggie Lawrence has had precisely one sexual experience with a man and it wasn’t a good experience. As if the humiliation of the bad experience weren’t enough, the man is also a colleague who has recently disappeared and stuck Maggie with a rare and ancient artifact that may bring her nothing but trouble. The only way to know for sure if the artifact is what Maggie suspects is to call in an expert. Luckily, Riley MacKenzie is just a few towns over and willing to help.
A few things happen the moment Riley sees Maggie Lawrence and the artifact she has brought him: 1) he instantly recognizes the artifact as an extremely rare and valuable find; 2) he tells Maggie having possession of this artifact is putting her life in danger and; 3) he knows beyond all reason and doubt that he will have Maggie once he gets her to safety. From Maggie’s perspective, Riley MacKenzie is certainly all she has heard but getting involved with yet another colleague is a very, very bad plan. Though she has every intention of staying out of Riley’s bed the situation she finds herself in is fraught with danger and uncertainty and that always heightens the passion.
The Bottom Line: I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: I loves me some hot, nerdy, slightly kinky professor and Riley MacKenzie fits the bill through and through! Riley is definitely the highlight of this read with his calm and cool exterior that hides a hard body and a desire for slightly kinky sex. Riley is a confident intellectual with a layer of raw sexuality hidden just beneath the surface. Maggie may be smart and confident in the field but her sexual experience is limited making her just right for a man like Riley. My only complaint/concern about Maggie and Riley is how quickly Maggie goes from literally one bad sexual encounter to being willing and able to participate in the kind of sex Riley enjoys. Don’t get me wrong, their naughty bits are really good but it just seems like a bit too much for Maggie. With that being said, the wonkiness with Maggie certainly didn’t stop me from enjoying this read and moving on the fourth and final MacKenzie brother read, Cooper.

Well isn't this a little surprise. With this series of short stories about the Mackenzie brothers, even though this is the 3rd in the group, they can really be read as stand alone. There are references to the previous tales, but each one is self contained about that brothers finding their love.
That said Riley, the College Professor & Dean of Archaeology at Declan private College (Sounds very bookish doesn't he) meets Maggie (Margaret Lawrence, Director of the Library of Antiquities, Washington (I know your thinking more bookish). Just remember it's usually the quiet ones to have the best stories.
Well lets just say this short story is hot & full of surprises, that so far in this series make it the most erotic of any of them. We get to know these 2 quite easily. Not to many other players are involved, Coopers the only 1 of the other 3 brothers to have a scene in the story, which is ok because Dane & Thomas have already told their stories.
If you have a pallet for a bit of BDSM, Riley's tale is going to tickle your interest. They discover their joint passions for all things extra to vanilla & a blossoming love story it is. Like I said very hot & woroth the read.
This story also paves the way for Cooper to obviously have his turn at love in the 4th book & let me tell you, his should be just as hot & kinky, as it was in his flat that they got to try all the sex toys & gadgets to awaken their joy. Very enjoyable love story between Riley & Maggie. Definitely worth the read & can't wait to get into the 4th book & read about Cooper.

Ok... so, most of these books run along the same lines... boy meets girl, boy fucks girl till she completely sated and exhausted, girl has a problem, and boy fixes problem... although that premise is the same, the brothers are NOT the same... read on if you don't believe me. This story is a little different. Riley had no intensions of getting with Maggie right away, the main objective for him was to keep her safe and what she had safe. After hearing her and that humming noise... well, then it's a different story... hehehe!!!
Riley is hot no doubt, but not my personal favorite.. that one is reserved for (I'm pretty sure) the next book; Cooper... he's been such an ass throughout the first three books and I can't wait to see what type of woman is paired up with him. Now, Maggie is deceiving for sure... prim and proper on the outside and all hot and horny on the in!! I can't believe what she did on her first night at Cooper's apartment... holy freaking cowz!!!
The subject matter is not dark, but for me a light read. It's 53 (kindle version) pages long and took me a couple hours to read. It's a very fast moving book just like it's predecessors and flows very well! I did not "love" it per-say, but like... that would be the correct word for how I felt! 4 Stars just cause it IS a Liliana Hart book and she's simply amazing!
