Rate this book
Imagine…
A mother who seems like the perfect, well-regarded soccer mom, sweet and helpful to other parents and kids out in public but who rages and screams at her children and husband at home when they displease her…
A mother who deliberately makes her kids feel confused by telling them something didn’t happen when it objectively did, invalidating their experience and helping them learn they can’t trust themselves…

Do any of these scenarios feel familiar?
Do you sometimes feel like you "flunked" childhood and it was all your fault?
Feel like you have to walk around on eggshells when you are around your mother?
Find you have crushing, low self-worth and never feel good enough after being in her presence?
Often get emotionally triggered and feel deflated after connecting with her?

It is certainly not easy having a narcissistic mother. In fact, the knock-on effect can be utterly devastating for many, let alone the long-term and psychological damage it can cause. If any of the above feelings ring true to you, you might wonder what you can do to cope with a narcissistic parent…
You might sink lower every time you contact her - questioning all your decisions, value, worth, and self-esteem as she subtly or overtly quashes them.
Or worse, thinking you can change her…
Look, I get it.

You don’t want your mother to drive you crazy anymore.
You want to be able to hold boundaries with the difficult people in your life and start feeling good about yourself again.
You want concrete tools to cope with the backlash you may get from your mother and support for dealing with your own hard feelings.

I had high hopes going into this. Knowing it’s self-published, well, I should’ve known better.

This book is in desperate need of a competent editor. A professional. The writing needs some serious polishing. There is potentially good information in here, but the writing/editing is so poor it’s hard to get anything out of it. The organization is not good. Often it seems like parts are just talking in circles. There’s a lot of repetition, and very confusing typos. (Word to the wise: spellcheck is NEVER enough.) Formatting is awful. After an editor goes through it, get a professional proofreader to polish it up. So. Many. Errors. It’s painful. And distracting. There MIGHT be good content here, but it’s buried in horrible writing, confusing errors, and poor formatting.

Also? A few studies are mentioned, but there’s no endnotes or footnotes or anything. No citations. There should be a lot of citations in a book like this. The burden of proof is on the author. For all I can tell, these so-called studies are fabricated.

Very little is explained well. An editor could’ve helped direct the author to make this book a lot more helpful to potential readers. Instead, reading it is a waste of time.
