I have tried to read the King James version and I gave up!! I was trying to find a bible that I could understand and I found this gem!! This was a Christmas present to myself:) This is easy to read, notes at the bottom explain in more detail what it is U are reading.Believe me when I tell U this is the best bible!!

This Bible is a great version for study and easy reading. The study guides are wonderful. On many pages, the study guide is half the page and the Bible reading is the other half. The Bible is brought into clarity with this version. I highly recommend it to anyone!

NLT is a great and easy to understand translation. The 4 translations I read are Amplified, KJV, NIV and NLT. This particular one goes in depth with study notes. I have one in large print and it’s HUGE. Not one to take to church but good for at home. They have NLT that isn’t the Life application (study) Bible and that would work better for carrying. If you struggle with understanding KJV, Amplified, or NIV translations, NLT would be the translation I would recommend. It’s important to find an easy-for-you-to-understand translation that YOU understand so that you’ll read it!! A lot of people don’t read the Bible because they don’t understand it. Find a translation YOU understand and read it everyday! The Word of God is Life!

This is a wonderful way to read through the Bible.
I truly enjoyed reading each day of the year.
I also LOVED all the very insightful notes. Often they made me ponder how my relationship with God is, and directed me to a new thought.
It's a wonderful devotional tool!

The Chronological Life Application Study Bible is a great study Bible. I absolutely love how the Bible is arranged chronologically, so that you can read straight through instead of flipping to certain books/chapters when you want to read things in the order they happened. I really liked how, in the introduction, they said that "While helpful as a tool for gaining insight into the meaning, message, and significance of Scripture, a chronological Bible is not a substitute for a traditional Bible." (A17) - I completely agree!

Things I like: I like the timeline, the chronological header system at the top of every page, the maps, the personality profiles, the archaeological notes, the charts/diagrams, the life application notes, and the full-color illustrations.

The personality profiles are great because they list the strengths & accomplishments, weaknesses & mistakes, life lessons, vital statistics (i.e locations, occupation, relatives, etc.), and key verse(s) of the person being profiled. I found these features helpful and interesting.

The illustrations are one of my favorite things about CLASB. The one of the Tabernacle was especially helpful in giving me a visual of the layout of the Tabernacle.

The only complaint I have is that in the "Canonical Table Of Contents" (which is a reference page to show you where to find certain books/chapters in this chronologically-arranged Bible) several of the little colored squares that indicate which section the passage appears in have similar shades and, since the squares are tiny, it's hard to tell the difference between them. It's not a big deal, since next to each passage is the page number where it's located, but I wish the colors would have been more distinct.

Overall, the CLASB is a great study Bible. It took a little bit for me to get used to the layout, but I see myself using it more and more this year as I make my way through the Bible chronologically. There are a lot of helpful aspects to this Bible, so I definitely recommend it!

Absolutely the best study Bible ever! The key to getting the most out of this Bible is reading all the notes at the bottom of each page. These not only explain the verses but also show us how to apply them to our own lives. Reading the Bible in the order the events happened enhanced my understanding of God's Word so much, enabling me to better understand the "big picture." This Bible also has many additional features, such as maps, charts, diagrams, personality profiles, illustrations, book-by-book summaries, and dictionary/concordance. It's divided into 10 eras of Biblical history, with an extensive introduction to each section. It's a big book and it took me longer to read it straight through than I expected, but it was SO worth it. I have the hard cover version and I highlighted extensively with a yellow Sharpie Smear Guard marker and the color did not bleed through the pages.

This study bible is a winner. Lots of color photos, maps, illustrations, timelines, as well as the Life Application Bible study notes. It's presented chronologically to help the reader get a grasp on the whole order of things in the bible. Highly recommended.

My daughter and son in law gifted me a Bible in 2015 I believe. I started reading the Bible in the early part of 2019; this was my first time to read anything of the Bible. The reason I started is now irrelevant. I first started with the New Testament only because I was more familiar with it. Then moved on to the Old Testament. I must admit that there are many parts of the Bible that I didn't understand totally but I just kept reading. It did help that this Bible was a study Bible that gave understanding to the readings/chapters after each chapter and even though understanding was not always good I just kept reading.

My personal favorites were Psalms 25 and 86 which I try to start each day with and follow with one to two chapters in whatever Book I was reading. I have personal favorites in Books - such as The Book of Ruth and the Book of Daniel. There are Books I have decided to reread such as Genesis and Revelation. I will definitely reread Isiah to try to get a better understanding of that Book. Did you know that Isiah is the longest Book in the Old Testament? I believe that it is.

Reading the Bible has lead me to other studies; I enjoy reading works by Max Lucado. But my end conclusion is this - The Bible is not about religion; it is about FAITH. Even though I have finished every page it is the one book I will continue to read, study and underline.

This is by far the most thought provoking book I have ever read and I really enjoyed how it can so be related to the world of today.

I can't say much about the author(s) or the style of writing (thankfully it was in the New Living Translation with lots of explanations) but I can say that it has become one of the most enjoyable books that I have read.

Recommend buying.
Chronological and study combined is great! The timeline on the side was a great as not everything was a biblical reference in the world, example one was Italy invented false teeth, it’s packed with tons of information both biblical and worldly historic.

The chronological also is great to see side by side how different authors focused on minute differences. It did take me three months of dedicated reading.
I’ll read again and just do the Bible with out the notes to help with the fluidity of timeline.

You can tell there were multiple authors for the study notes as that writing style was very different thru out. Some very historical, others comparing to other parts of scripture, while some use every verse to bring salvation into the story. You will find some are more your style than others. And at times the Bible may 1/4 of late while 3/4 may be commentary.

The timeline and art of seeing temple, maps, etc help to put in a 3dimensional world.
Again I would highly recommend.

If k was given authority to modify I would take the tabs (timeline) at top and break the book into multiple books to make it lighter to hold as it is nearly 2000 pages so it’s got weight to it, but having a table or pillow to prob on works in the meantime.

Today I finished the actual Biblical text portion of this book along with the extra study helps and historical information that was scattered throughout. The numbered pages end at pg 1833. The rest of this book is a Christian Worker's Resource, A Book by book summary of the Bible and a Concordance. I will continue to read the first two helps to finish off the year.
I found this Chronological Study Bible to be a wonderful way to read through the Bible this year! The New Living Translation was often easier to read and the study helps throughout were interesting and I have tagged pages that I might want to refer to again.

It only took me three years to get through this! But what a wonderful, easy way to read the Bible: it's in chronological order already, so you start at the beginning and just keep reading through, like a normal book. And i loved all the extra illustrations and information spread throughout. A very good resource to have and to read!

My favorite Bible. I have always wanted to read the Bible chronologically and this is the easiest way to do it.

It also gives so much explanation and commentary about what was happening at the time, timelines, definitions, etc. The only thing missing is a one-year reading plan. The ones online don't quite match up with this Bible edition.

I love this edition of the Bible, although reading with a year study kept me hopping between pages as chronological is much diff than how the Bible is usually set up. I love the historical notes, foot notes and just learning the order of things.

It took me a few years to read through it. It is interesting and helpful to study the Bible when it is chronological order of events. The study guides are very good and help put passages in context.
