Finding Joy: A Radical Rediscovery Of Grace

Rate this book
What motivates you to serve Christ? Is it a sense of nagging obligation as you struggle to achieve a host of impossible targets? Or is it a heart full of joy?
God's grace is neither earned nor deserved. We receive grace, and with it the blessings of forgiveness, peace, hope, security, rescue, reconciliation and eternal life. God's grace needs no additions, no subtractions.
Yet it's so easy, so tempting, like the Galatians in the New Testament, to slip back into a legalistic mindset. We want to build on what God has done; we want to make ourselves more attractive and acceptable.
Marcus Honeysett challenges us to live as sons and daughters of God, not as slaves. He helps us to understand the law and its place in the Old and New Testaments. He accompanies us as we go joy-spotting in Philippians.
Joy should be the hallmark of our Christian service. Understanding God's grace is the foundation to releasing that joy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Drawing mainly from Galatians and Philippians, Marcus shows us how to find joy and why we often experience a normal Christian life without joy, even though the Bible speaks of joy as the normal Christian experience.
The answer is all about God's grace.
Part 1 of the book shows how, like the Galatians, often we slip into a legalistic works-based assessment of our Christian life which saps our joy.
Instead we should rejoice in God and his grace shown to us in the good news.
Part 2 looks at how we can live the Christian life according to principles that will bring us joy.

This is a book I want to revisit often!

Great book, really makes you think if you are living by grace or not and challenged me about where I find joy! Filled with the gospel message.

A superb, thoroughly biblical, grace-based study of joy which doesn't detour around suffering or emotional disconnections.
