Wolfboy Is Scared

Rate this book
Wolfboy is NOT afraid of the Grumble Monster. He's just in a hurry to get home.

Except . . . the rabbits should go first. Wolfboy needs to watch their backs after all! Wait, are those monster claws? Are those monster eyes? Maybe Wolfboy IS scared!

With bold, bright art, Wolfboy Is Scared hilariously encapsulates how fear itself can be scarier than any monster!

Thank you so much to Bloomsbury Children’s and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

Wolfboy and his rabbit friends are walking back home from berry picking and wolfboy gets scared thinking he sees the grumble monster.

This was a really unique picture book I have honestly never seen anything like it, all the images were made out of clay, they were so different but very cleverly done. It certainly shocked me at first but I found I actually quite liked them in that style it really suited the book and it was so different to see.

The story was really great and I liked the progression, seeing just a bit and the rabbits saying it’s nothing each time, even though wolfboy knew what he was seeing and was scared the whole time. Then bam the grumble monster, I really loved the way it was told and the story progression was done perfectly. It’s also great as it shows you can be scared and brave at the same time, a perfect lesson for younger audiences.

I think that children would find the story really entertaining, it’s easy for them to read themselves it’s really fun story. They would also love looking at the clay images telling the story, they were so cleverly made for telling this story.

The artwork is SUPERB. The illustrator/author Andy Harness worked on Moana, Frozen, Wreck-it-Ralph, and it shows. The crazy 3 D artwork glows off the page and melts the reader's heart. Oh yes there's a story and cute bunnies but the ART is so glorious it makes me weep. All children need to be exposed to the genius of this art. Any questions?
