When Maddy graduated from Columbia University, she was ready to change the world. She'd get a job at Newsline, meet a nice guy, and live happily ever after with a real designer handbag on her arm. Two years later, she's stuck producing puff pieces for News 9 San Diego--where "if it bleeds, it leads." She's still single, her family's falling apart, and so is her knock-off Kate Spade.

Then Jamie Hayes walks through her newsroom door. The former filmmaker is now her cameraman and everything Maddy has ever dreamed of. Creative, smart, and sweet—with eyes that could make a girl melt. The perfect guy…but perfectly unavailable. And the more Maddy tries to stay away—the further she starts to fall.

Now a secret scoop from her favorite knock-off purse guy has Maddy chasing a lead that could make her career. Or destroy it forever. How far is she willing to go to broadcast the truth? And will this breaking news lead to more broken dreams…or an exclusive on Jamie's heart? Stay tuned…

It's the story of a lifetime.

*This book was provided to me in exchange for an honest and unbiased review*

I found this book a lot of fun. I consider it lighthearted and not too angsty, which is great if your tear ducts need a break from all those intense new adult books out there. I definitely enjoy this style of romance now and again. They are refreshing and fun. There were a good few scenes that had me chuckling even.

One thing that crossed my mind as I read was how reminiscent it was of Bridget Jones' Diary, which is odd if you consider that I've never actually read the book. I think it was something about the female protagonist, something endearing and clumsy and cute and you really do just want the best for her. Oh and the similarity of the job too. And then the author even gave a little nod to Bridget Jones in one scene, I thought that was a lovely touch.

The similarity went no further though, I'm not implying anything negative, it was merely that I enjoyed the characters and story in the same way that I enjoyed Bridget Jones. Light hearted, amusing, sweet and ultimately satisfying.

The plot was fairly interesting and added a good dose of mystery and some strange and different scenes for the pair to interact in. I thought it was great that they had a quite unusual 'courting' with the backdrop of the investigative reporting. As for the mystery itself, I thought it was well plotted and seemed realistic enough but I was mixed in how I felt about it. Sometimes I was skimming to get to the romance, and other times I found it engaging, exciting even.

My uncertainty in how I felt about the plot was part of the reason I wasn't blown away by this book. The other reason was the romance. I liked them as a couple. Some of the scenes were adorable and the back and forth because of the undeniable but unattainable relationship created some real tension. However, I would have liked some more time spent getting to know them both and seeing them together more. I tend to prefer a prolonged 'getting to know each other' phase. I didn't feel too invested in the relationship or either of them individually, I kind of felt rather apathetic to be honest.

In summary, a sweet light hearted romance reminiscent of a bridget jones style rom com. I enjoyed it as a fun diversion, it would be a great beach read, but it didn't sweep me up or have me swooning.

Love at 11 is a fantastic book with a peek into a newsroom. The highlights for me were the hysterical peeks into the ludicrous minds of the head honcho and what CRAZY stories they wanted Maddy to run with. At the heart of the story was Maddy and Jamie - a lot of friends, a little bit more, and what happens next stuff.... which was fun to participate in. Plus, a little mystery thrown in with a good story behind it.

I really enjoyed Love at 11 and am looking forward to reading more by Mari Mancusi!

i really liked the news plot of the book. the chasing down the bad guys and taking a risk to do something that mattered. that was exciting. the romance part... less compelling. the drunking one night stand that was cheating and the not fessing up right away kinda rubbed me the wrong way. i get that mistakes happen, but own them and make ammends.

What a delightful pick me up read this was! Author Marianne Mancusi has a lively first person voice in her writing of NEWS BLUES! Her writing voice is so realistic to the character Maddy. Maddy's emotions really showed through, the humor, the sadness, the fear, and even those mixed feelings as she dealt with work, family and love. Bringing the family issues, inside the television studios and the suspense of the private investigation that Maddy and Jamie were involved in, made for a exciting read, one that had me constantly thinking about the characters and story of NEWS BLUES long past when the book was done! The hero, Jamie, was too one that was so much a comfort to read. He was a romantic guy who was also fun but too reserved as he dealt with so many decisions he had to deal with, without wanting to hurt those he loved. With the family problems, especially those of Maddy's sister Lulu, I couldn't help as a reader, feeling so much for her and Maddy and Jamie as they went through times and emotions so many of us too are dealt with in our lives. I was often smiling (especially with those needs of those fake handbags for Maddy!), near tears and having my heart race with this book and this story will stay with me for a long time to come. Even time after finishing this book, many scenes remained with me and I could picture Maddy and Jamie's future together. NEWS BLUES was one suspenseful contemporary, lightly humorous and romantic read that I know when I see this authors name on a book in the future, I'm definitely picking up Marianne Mancusi's to read.

Book provided by author for an honest review

When I first read the blurb, I thought it would be a good novel, and it is. I mean, I expected an easy, entertaining reading, good written, with some laughs, romance, mystery, and action, and this book delivers all that, if you want to read a book with the previous characteristics, this is the one.

Maddy is a 24-years old producer from a local broadcaster, who's aspiring to be a main producer in a major program; Jamie is a filmmaker and the new hunk photographer/cameraman who works with Maddy,... and a soon-to-be-husband.
They had a one-night stand, and their relationship evolves during the plot, which is splashed with a lot of interesting action.

Maddy is sarcastic, a little self-wrapped, with some guilt issues, but a nice heroine at least.
Jamie's the perfect prince charm, so the Jen deal is a good change for the story.

What I like about this story was that it's always a constant movement for characters, and it states changes among traditional families.

This novel has a few typos, and needs a lift-up in some lines' translation *wink, cough* which I'm glad to do.

Why didn't I give a better rating?
a. Title is nice, but confusing, if you're not into journalism, communication or media.
b. Translation of said lines.
c. The few typos.
d. Cover. Although it's beautiful, it doesn't reflect the plot and essence of this novel.

So, Ms. Mari, just a final question: How much from this story is your very own and which parts are fiction? ;)

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book never really took off for me. It rode the line between romance, mystery, drama and a little too close to an afterschool/Lifetime drama. Nothing wrong with any one, or even two but this story was all over.

Things I enjoyed-
*Jamie and Maddy's easy friendship and hilarious banter
*Peek into drama filled fake news room-and the way their "hard hitting" stories were fabricated
*Obsession with knock off purses-random yet very amusing
*Maddy and her dream off being relevant

Things that bugged me-
*Truly not a teetotaler-bbut drinking was excessive. As a nurse I worry about their livers!
*The drunken one night stand-didn't ring true for either character
*The complete disregard the parents had for the care of their teen age daughter-this wasn't funny or cute-bordered on neglect
*Maddy's crazy moods

In the end they got their HEA- hoping it is true and lasts!

Two-time Emmy award-winning news producer Marianne Mancusi has out done herself with News Blues. She has taken advantage of her insights into the T.V. industry and made an amazing and humorous story.

Maddie Madison is a new producer for News 9 in San Diego, CA. If it can go wrong it will go wrong for this heroine. I loved this book so much that I couln't put it down until I finished it.

Maddy should prepare a speech to be awarded for "TSGE" (the stupidest girl ever) not Emmy! And Jamie is a douche-bag BIG DB. Plain and simple.
No matter how interesting may be the subject if the characters are poorly oriented, coordinated, created ... the story disappoints and flops.

Maddy is a producer for News 9 San Diego. Not quite the job at Newsline she had in mind when she graduated from Columbia 2 years ago. She’s stuck in a rut but all that is about to change when she has the week from hell.
Her usual day at work is suddenly brightened with the arrival of new photographer (and eye candy) Jamie. It gets better still when she is called in to a meeting and discovers that he has been assigned to her for a new project. The buzz doesn’t last though, when she learns that he has a fiancée with a wedding on the imminent horizon. Her week gets worse when she gets surprising news that her parents marriage has broken down.
Whilst on a trip over the border to Mexico with her best friend Jodi to pick up the latest knock-off bags, Maddy gets a lead on a story that could be her ticket to the big time.
What follows is funny, fast paced thrill of a ride through a week in the life of a woman on the edge!
The e-mails between Maddy and her boss with the crazy plans for stories they wanted her to cover had me chuckling away, as did the narcissistic anchorman, for some reason I imagined him to be a cross between Ron Burgundy and Terence Stamp. The incident in the restaurant when she tries (unsuccessfully) to discretely take a picture of her blind date was hilarious!

As Maddy struggles with the responsibility of having her 16 year old sister as a room-mate following her parents’ separation, the one person she relies on is Jamie – who always seems to be there at her hour of need.
They bond over their love of 80’s music and films and I loved how their relationship built, with them trying to do the right thing, to be just good friends and battling their feelings for each other. The scrapes they get into whilst researching the big lead had me on the edge of my seat with the tension of it all one minute and then laughing at their luck the next when they inadvertently drink a bottle of water laced with ecstasy.
Just when things are starting to look up for Maddy it all starts unravelling and I could have cried for her. She has a lot to deal with in a few short days, dealing with unexpected news about her sister and then Jamie drops a bombshell. When her boss makes her an offer she struggles to refuse, I hoped that she would hang on to her integrity – it looked shaky for a while but then I remembered the prologue and that had me convinced she was going to do the right thing.
I absolutely loved how she gets her story out there – I could just picture her walking out of the office with a smile on her face while all hell was breaking loose behind her!

I don’t want to giveaway any spoilers, let’s just say that Maddy got what she deserved in the end, it was perfect.

I LOVED this book, I couldn't put it down, I kept telling myself "one more chapter" right up until I read the last one! I would highly recommend it – a 5 star book for me!

When Maddy Madison graduated from Columbia University, she was ready to save the world, be the voice of truth and ethics in journalism. She dreamed of working at her favorite network TV magazine, Newsline. Five years later at the age of twenty-seven, she still toils away at local News 9 San Diego as an assistant producer, where she produces fluff pieces of sensationalistic trash instead of the thought-provoking and legitimate stories that she yearns to get on air. So what's a girl to do when her dreams are yet unfulfilled? Why she keeps going ... and lands a promotion as an investigative producer and a hot new cameraman to boot! But life doesn't get easier for Maddy even with the promotion: she has to deal with a conceited news anchor; the hottie cameraman she is attracted to is engaged; her parents are getting a divorce; she has a sixteen year old wild child sister Lulu; and she still gets fluff stories. Just when she's about to give up, a chance at an exclusive expose may just be what she needs to get her life back on track.

In Love at 11, author Mari Mancusi weaves an entertaining tale of one woman's dream to be a credible and ethical producer in the broadcast news industry, while dealing with family, love and career issues. Written in the first person narrative and set in San Diego, producer Maddy Madison takes the reader along for the journey as she weaves her way through life's crazy path.

This story has a nice mixture of intrigue, life issue with family and career, humor and romance. It's a fast-paced story that keeps the reader entertained and turning the pages. Spunky Maddy Madison is realistic, she has flaws and is easy to relate to. Who hasn't dreamed of becoming someone important and doing great things, only to have real life intervene? The great thing about Maddy is she doesn't let it get her down, she keeps on trucking. A news producer lands the story of her lifetime, and the man of her dreams, in Mari Mancusi's Love at 11.

The long-suffering producer of a local TV news show in San Diego, Maddy has the chance to finally sink her teeth into some serious stories when she is added to an investigative journalism team. Though she still has to cover some of the more far-fetched stories that will look good to advertisers, she also has the opportunity to dig deep.

At the same time she is partnered with a sexy new videographer. Even though Jamie is off the market, Maddy cannot seem to help herself when it comes to wanting him. In addition to a forbidden romance complicating her life, she must also deal with the ramifications of her family falling apart. When he work and professional life come crashing together, she must find a way to find a resolution to both.

As an ex-journalist (a loose term, I only worked in newspapers for two-and-a-half years), there are few things I love more than a good story about a journalist getting into the nitty gritty. Add in the mystery and intrigue that comes from the main character cracking a major case, and I was gripped.

Though I do not know much about broadcast journalist, all of the issues were relatable. Journalism is a changed industry where finding advertisers often matters more than breaking good stories.

Oh, and in my experience, journalists like to get their drink on. A lot. And sometimes things happen when they get their drink on. Like, all the time.

Even non-journalists should be able to relate to Maddy's key issue: She has bigger aspirations for her career than her current life will allow. She is a somewhat flawed character, but one who recognizes and owns up to those flaws, which makes them almost disappear in the eye of the reader.

The trouble in Maddy's family life blended well with the major story she was focused on covering, particularly in regards to her little sister. The drama that came from her parents provided an interesting and adequately complicated catalyst to spur the major tension forward.

(I'm speaking in riddles here, because I do not want to spoil this part of the story.)

The romance in this story was sweet, but as complicated as the rest of Maddie's world. Her chemistry with Jamie was obvious from the get-go. And there were several moments that had me audibly echoing Maddie's own, "Oh my Gods" as I wondered how these two kids were going to get together.

A fast-paced read that had me turning the pages, Love at 11 was a fantastic blend of intrigue, romance and entertainment that pushed me to the end, which tied up nice and neat.

Rating: 4.5 of 5

Madeline Madison is a journalism graduate from Colombia University who is now working for News 9 in San Diego. With each mindless piece she is asked to produce, she sees her dream of becoming a Newsline producer get further and further away. When new photographer Jamie comes along, Maddy thinks her luck might have finally turned, until she learns that Jamie is engaged.

When her father invites her for dinner, Maddy is curious to know about the news he has for her. Unfortunately, her parents’ divorce is anything but good news, and the young woman cannot find it in her to forgive her dad for his actions. After her mother decides to disappear to some foreign country, and with a dad who seems to care more about his new girlfriend and child-to-be, it’s up to Maddy to take care of her younger sister Lulu.

Juggling between a broken heart, a teenage sister and an unchallenging job, Maddy finally sees the light at the end of the tunnel when her favourite counterfeit bag seller in Tijuana tips her on the existence of a drug cartel. Ready to produce the piece of her life, Maddy does not hesitate to put her life at risk to uncover the cartel.

When I finished this book, I felt the blurb hadn’t done it any justice. I was expecting a much lighter and straightforward story, but I thoroughly enjoyed the different layers of stories that Mari Mancusi created in this book. I also liked that it didn’t follow the usual NA book pattern of “everything’s crap – omigod, I met the man of my life – actually wait, he did something wrong, I don’t want him – ok he just apologised, that’s fine then – let’s live happily ever after”. Love at 11 felt very real, the story is one that could be told by so many people and I loved it for that.

I appreciated the fact that the characters had conflicting emotions, notably when Maddy discovers her dad’s got another woman pregnant and how she questions her feeling towards that woman. I very much enjoyed the relationship that was built between her and Jamie, and I also greatly admired Jodi, whom I wanted to hate for disagreeing with Maddy, but ended up loving because she was just right.

Love at 11 is a very good NA book, and it was certainly a very good surprise. I half-heartedly started it only to find myself unable to stop reading it, and I greatly enjoyed how realistic it was. Not everything in life can go well, and it’s good to have a reminder that stories don’t need perfect characters with perfect storylines.

Maddy Madison never imagined that her Columbia University journalism degree would lead her to five long years of "if it bleeds, it leads" TV news on a local San Diego station. Besides being assigned sensationalist and sometimes fabricated stories about lipstick that kills and deadly dishwashers, Maddy also must write segments for a narcissistic news anchor.

As if work wasn't bad enough, when her parents separate and face dual mid-life crises, Maddy is left to mentor her 16- year-old sister, Lulu, who seems increasingly into skipping school, wild parties and maybe even drugs. Following a tip, Maddy discovers drug smugglers operating through a tunnel from Mexico. With help from Jamie Hayes, the attractive (but engaged) new photographer at the station, Maddy sets off south of the border to investigate.

As Maddy's increasingly inappropriate relationship with Jamie escalates, so does the wild behavior of her younger sister. And even if Maddy gets the proof she needs for her drug exposé, her network isn't interested in running the story. Maddy went into television news to make a difference, but now that she's got the NEWS BLUES, something big is going to have to change.

This fascinating and fun look behind the scenes at television news is straight from the imagination of a two- time Emmy-award-winning news producer. Marianne Mancusi creates some great characters; I would be glad to work with any of them (if I was in television). The balance of family and career in the story is both realistic and entertaining. This light-hearted romance has a serious side though, in addressing issues of drug addiction and in revealing how our news and the advertising that supports the news may be more closely related than we think! Overall, NEWS BLUES gave me a glimpse of television news production along with an intriguing investigation and a satisfying romance.

***I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.***

I have read some of Mari Mancusi's Blood Coven Vampire series, so I was really looking forward to reading Love at 11. If you are in the mood for romance, mystery, and lots of laughs, you should read this one NOW!!!

The story centers around Maddy who is a television news producer at her local news station. She has dreams of moving to a bigger, more serious station, Newline, where she can produce serious stories and not the sensationalized stories like "Cosmetics That Kill." However, life has thrown her some curve balls. Her parents are divorcing after her father has left her mother for his pregnant girlfriend who is younger than her. Her mother has left to go on a shopping spree LITERALLY around the world, so she finds herself responsible for her younger sister who is fast becoming a drug addict. Her one bright spot is the her new sexy camera man, Jamie. But, wouldn't you know he has a beautiful model girlfriend!!! This is where all the fun begins. Maddy finds herself in bed with Jamie after a one night stand, and a serious news story involving drug trafficking has recently fallen in her lap. What is a girl to do? She can't seem to fight her feelings for Jamie especially when he seems to feel the same way. Her new lead on drug trafficking possibly involves some highly connected people and could endanger any chance of moving to a bigger station not to mention her life. Do yourself a favor and read this book!

I loved Maddy's sense of humor and the crazy situations she seemed to get herself into. I loved her zany family despite all their faults. Mari Mancusi tackled some serious issues with a lot of humor and gave readers a peek into a newsroom. I hope this isn't the last time we will see Maddy and Jamie.

Mari Mancusi is now on tour with CLP Blog Tours and Love at 11. This story follows Maddy, a producer for the local News 9 in San Diego. While she had high hopes for obtaining a position at Newsline, she hasn’t gotten any further than producing fluff pieces that either no one cares about or is dangerously close to not being factual. When she manages to snag a promotion and land a super-hot camera guy all in one fell swoop, Maddy wonders if her luck might turn around. But the promotion comes with an arrogant anchor, no better stories, and her hot camera guy Jamie turns out to be engaged – to a gorgeous model/actress living in LA. With her parents getting a divorce and her wild-child younger sister moving in with her, Maddy is wondering if she can keep it all together. When the chance for an exclusive exposé gets thrown into her lap, Maddy tries to get her priorities straight once again – but can she have it all?

Love at 11 is a fabulous look into a newsroom and the chaos and characters that come with. This story is very modern, fast-paced, and so realistic. Maddy makes mistakes, but she works hard on not letting them define here. There are two great stories written into one here – the issue with Maddy’s family, especially her sister Lulu, and Maddy’s career and love life, and how the two mix together. I was on the edge of my seat during many parts of this book, and I couldn’t wait to see how it ended. I don’t want to give the ending away, but I was really glad to see not everything worked out so smoothly with Jamie. Sometimes I come to expect stories that wrap up in a neat little bow, and we all know life doesn’t really work out that way. I loved this book, and give it 5 stars!

Actually, that's 3.5 stars.

Maddie and Jamie's story was off to a good start. Somewhere in the middle, the story started to drag, but picked up momentum again towards the end.

Maddie's dedication to her work is quite inspiring. Sometimes, i get put off with characters who are highly ambitious and are too driven to succeed that they lose themselves in the process. Maddie isn't like that. She's ambitious enough to pursue her dreams yet keeps realistic expectations and remain grounded. That makes her likable and relate-able.

Jamie, on the other hand, is like the perfect Mr-Not-So-Perfect leading man. He's handsome and charismatic. He's ambitious as well, and yet he also has self-doubts. He's in a relationship with someone, and though there's no apparent trouble in paradise, he has this unhappiness that can't be solved by simply ending this relationship.

I appreciate the fact that both Maddie and Jamie dealt with their individual hang-ups separately, and found their way back to each other eventually.

And what i said about realistic expectations? I admire Maddie and Jamie's determination to make their relationship work despite the fact that Jamie is going to be the father of his ex's baby. They both know that it wouldn't be easy, and the decision in itself to see this relationship through is the bravest they have ever been (braver than they have been, when they were almost caught by drug dealers during their drug news investigation).

Maddy has a dream...she wants to be a famous producer for one of the big news stations. Instead, she is stuck at a 3rd rate San Diego station producing stories like "cosmetics that kill". One day while with her girlfriend in Mexico looking at knock off purses from her knock off guy, she stumbles onto a big story...a story that can make her dreams come true. As she works on the story with the help of her super hot camera guy Jamie, she has to decide what is most important to her...doing the safe thing or following her dream.

This was an entertaining story but not really what I was expecting. There is some romance in the story but it is not the main part of the story. Parts of it feel rushed and other parts seem to drag. There is a lot going on and I feel it would have been more enjoyable if a little more time had been spent developing the characters and their relationships.

My thoughts:

Character development: 3
Level of Romance between characters: 3
Passion/Heat level: 2(not much here)
Angst/Heartbreak: 3(a little bit of drama but due to the level of connection to the characters I didn't really care)
Cliffhanger?: (No, this is a stand alone book.)

Overall, I think this one just wasn't for me. It reads more like a drama then a romance and I like a hefty amount of romance in my reads.

I was given a copy of this book by the author for an honest review.

I liked this book and overall give it 4 stars. That being said there were a few things that I didn't care for.

A) The drunken one night stand.

B) Maddie always (and I do mean ALWAYS) seemed to be crying around Jamie. What kind of guy is going to stick around for that? I mean, honestly it seemed every time they were together in the beginning (and towards the end) she was crying. Believe me, I like a good cry but for her to be crying over every little thing? Like her date from hell (which really wasn't that big of a deal) yet she cries over him deleting photos off her phone. Le sigh. Maddie kind of grated on my nerves at times.

C) Maddie's parents. I understand that divorce is a very tough thing to go through but the way that both parents slacked on responsibility to both daughters and left their youngest to basically care for herself, didn't sit right with me. Her father seemed to take on his new girlfriend and their unborn child just fine but couldn't deal with his 16 y/o daughter back at home? Psssh, please.

Like I said, I did overall like this book. I liked Jamie the most and he's what kept me reading even though it was told through Maddie's POV. I would recommend this book to anyone whose looking for a quick fun read. I did find myself laughing throughout the book and did enjoy the story line. The writing was solid and for that, I gave this book 4 stars.

3.5 stars actually. I received this book for reviewing purposes as an ARC. I'm not one to go through and tell all about the story so if you want spoilers or a synopsis look at someone else's review. Here are the points that brought me to my 3.5 star rating. Point one, there was so much inner dialogue I felt I needed a shrink. I think the inner dialogue made the story drag, especially in the middle. Point two, as a former journalist, I did love the realistic viewpoints on today's media and how EVERYTHING is advertiser driven. Point three, Jamie (lead male) was far too good in the beginning, too wishy washy in the middle and a Sally at the end. Really. Didn't buy it. That's just me. Point four, Maddy...I can totally picture this character but one minute she is blowing up at mom and dad and the next, hugs and taking care of everyone. Umm, that's when the inner dialogue would have been good. Lots of hurdles for this young character and I wish the author would have used some of the word count to really process some of them a bit more and leave out the head case, repeat in another way, inner processing. Loved her stand at the end and endings are huge for me. So great job author on the ending. Oh and I like Terrance's honesty speech...good to throw that out there to readers after revealing how jaded the news really is. P.s. this is why I don't wear lipstick. Ha ha.

Love at 11 is a fun and easy read. It has a glimpse of everyday life struggles and love while adding some suspense and mystery. It also gives some insight to the world of news and advertising. I don't want to give away much of the story line but will give a basic overview of the story.
Maddy (single and available) has always wanted to be a producer for Newsline but is stuck at News 9 writing crazy stories that are getting her nowhere. Jamie (engaged to soon be married) is a photographer/camera-man who has relocated from LA to San Diego due to job availablities and writes novels as a pasttime. On their own they are not getting anywhere in there dreams but once Jamie is hired by News 9 and is paired with Maddy things start to change.
Maddy gets information that leads to her 'story of a lifetime' and Jamie helps her investigate it. Along the way things start to change between them and in their personal lives. Maddy's parents end up seperating and her sister learns some of lifes hard lessons; Jamie and his future wife go seperate ways but then learns that they are going to be parents.
Overall Love at 11 is a wonderful book and I love the way that the characters are portrayed as regular everyday people with normal struggles in today society. Thank you Mari for the chance to read and hope to have the chance to read more of your writings.

Love at 11 was a fantastic story about Maddy and her crazy life being turned upside down and then right side up.

I have to be honest that it took me a few chapters to really get into the story line. I think this was just due to jumping from one genre to another so quickly when I got into this book. However, by about chapter 5 I was sold on it.

I love how the chapters open up with emails. It makes it completely relatable because a lot of my days start out with work emails.

Even if you have never thought about journalism or being a producer... Every event Maddy goes through can be tied to so many real events in people's lives.

Maddy thinks her life is great. Everything seems to be in its place until Jamie shows up and her whole world shifts. Her family falls apart on her and Jamie is the glue to hold it all together.

Jamie... Oh the boy next door type. The kind of powerful guy who is a beautiful on the outside as he is on the inside. I love how this relationship was irresistible. They tired to stay apart for such obvious reasons but it just wasn't that easy. (Not that I agree with cheating at all!!)

Way to go on this one... It truly is a "Good feeling", relatable, and "can't put it down" type of book. I would recommend this to friends and family :)

Love At 11 was filled with various real-life issues that can happen to anyone. It was fast-paced and very relatable. It had a good combination of comedy, drama, romance, and mystery. Not too predictable either. The news story being covered by Maddy was far more interesting than the relationship between her and Jaime. The focus of the book was certainly not the romance between the two. Nevertheless, it was a very well-written and entertaining story.

As far as the character development goes, there could have been more for both Jaimie and Maddy. Maddy did grow and learn a bit towards the end which was refreshing to read. I liked the connection that the two had but I wanted more depth from them; individually, as well as a couple.

I loved that this book showed the ugly but realistic side of Journalism. As a journalism student, it was funny to read those bits.
Yay for a story set in my hometown! :)

I recommend this book to anyone who's looking for a story with a bit a romance but not necessarily the focus.

I tried to like it. Really I did.

This story intrigued me because I am a fellow broadcast journalist but I just couldn't get into it. The characters had very little depth and almost non-existent maturity. Maddy's reactions to Jamie were infuriating. One second she decides she wants to handle things as an adult but then seconds later starts hurling insults like a middle schooler. I just couldn't respect her as a woman. As a journalist, she was slightly (very very slightly) more respectable.

I won't even get started on Jamie, but I will say ugh, just ugh.

The news story was so unbelievably far fetched and unrealistic that I wanted to smack my head against a wall. Sure drug cartel smuggling tunnels are just that easy to find. Man where's my camera? I mean come on it sounds like I should be able to find one super easily and with little to no risk to life and limb. Right?

Sigh, Ms. Mancusi, I had high hopes for this novel but unfortunately for me it fell flat. So why did I give it 2 stars, because I was able to get through it. 1 star books I give up on midway through.

*I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest, impartial review*

Maddy is a producer at News 9 in San Diego who dreams of becoming a cutting edge producer for Newsline, where the storys actually matter, rather than being stuck with stories such as "Cosmetics that kill". Within the space of about a month her life drastically changes and that dream seems more possible than ever before, but there are alot of obstacles for her to overcome along the way.

This was a good read, it had elements of love, suspense and family drama about it. It focuses on Maddy Maddison and all aspects of her life, and it isn't just a love story about how two people met and had to overcome obstacles to be with each other which is refreshing.

I have only given it 3 stars as it just didnt hold my attention as much as i would have liked, i kept wanting to put it down and come back to it later. However i did enjoy reading this and would like to thank the author for giving me a chance to review it.

Love at 11 is a fast-paced novel, short but moving. It touched real-life situations that many people undergo and can relate to like career pressure; the desire to pursue something you believe is right, being part of an extended family, falling for the wrong guy, and deciding to fight for the right to be together.

Maddy meeting Jamie was the usual girl meets uber hot guy, girl drools over guy, girl finds out guy was already taken, girl accepts she and hot guy can only be friends only to find out that guy also had strong feelings for her, and then everything gets more complicated.

To conclude, I really admired Maddy’s tenacity to pursue the story and getting the story aired despite being blocked by her superiors. She had guts to follow the evidence and put her investigative story together, although at first I thought she wouldn’t push through with the last step but when she did, I was like, ‘Atta girl!’

And I have to admit, albeit short, I fell in love with Maddy and Jamie. Well, mostly with hot guy Jamie. Haha.

Received a free ebook copy from the author

The book

We follow Maddie who works at News 9 and addicted to (knock off) Kate Spade bags. She doesn't particularly love her job. Enter Jamie, hot new photographer at News 9 who has been attached to Maddie. Jamie is engaged to Jen, an actress in Hollywood.
Maddie gets scoop about a drug tunnel used to move illegal drugs from Mexico to the US from her knock off bag guy.
She has to deal with her parents' divorce, her sister's drug addition and hee very complicated relationship with Jamie while trying to produce a story that could get her to her dream job.

My Thoughts
This is a very funny and emotional book. I loved Maddie although, sometimes I felt like shaking her.
It was a quick, easy and enjoyable read.

My only problem with the book was that we didn't get an in depth look into Jamie and Maddie's relationship.

Recommended to romance readers

*I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.

Love at 11 was a fun read! It had romance, suspense, humor, and a little angst.
Poor Maddy couldn't catch a break... She had her parents' divorce (with a pregnant soon-to-be step mother younger than her- who she could relate to at one point), job complications, a new roomy sister addicted to drugs, and an untouchable irresistible new hire at work who became available and then wasn't. Every time Maddy turned around she was having some kind of hiccup in her professional, personal, or romantic life, but she kept going and giving it her best (with the help of the available/unavailable Jamie). Jamie was super sweet and seemed to rescue Maddy every time she needed rescuing. Too bad he was engaged...
This story had a little bit of everything including a HEA!!!
I really enjoyed Mari's writing style and found some of the inner dialogue really funny and relatable. I will be trying another book by this author soon!
