Ich habe noch nie so ein langweiliges Buch gelesen🤔 Wir mussten es in der Schule lesen... es war keine Spannung vorhanden und irgendwie war es mit gleichgültig was jetzt als nächstes passieren würde... Für mich hat der Handlungsverlauf auch nicht so viel Sinn gemacht🙀

Naive, completely outdated, partially stereotypical & racist, blunt and not enjoyable whatsoever for everyone who is able to think logically. There's no suspense, it is poorly written and has so much potential wasted.

Das Buch ist spannend geschrieben und durch die vielen Annotationen leicht verständlich. Die vielen Bilder und der Stadtplan von New York sind sehr ansprechend und geben viele Gesprächsanlässe. Auch in der Geschichte finden sich immer wieder landeskundliche Elemente (Greyhound bus, Underground, multicultural society, Statue of Liberty, NY sights), die sich aufgreifen lassen und die von den Schülern als interessant gesehen werden.
Die Geschichte selbst ist eine Mischung aus Liebesgeschichte (zumindest sind sich die Protagonisten sehr sympathisch), Krimi (richtige Mischung aus Gefahr und Auflösung im richtigen Moment ohne aber tatsächlich Drogen oder Gewalt darzustellen) und Landeskunde (v.a. auch durch den Ferienjob als Guide in New York). Kann schon am Ende der 7. Jahrgangsstufe (3. Lernjahr) gelesen werden.

One of the worst books I've ever read. Recommended for schools? I couldn't even finish it, it was so horrible. What kind of characters are they supposed to be? (And don't get me started on the underlying racism.)

My son had to read this book for school. In order to help in case he has questions, I forced myself to read it too.

The characters are flat and stereotypical.
The story boring and moves way too fast to leave any impression at all.
Even it's intended purpose, to deepen the understanding of English, is completely missed. When teaching a second (or third) language it's important to keep away from local dialect. As much as the author tried, the use of the word 'smart' in what felt like 6 different ways, is nothing but confusing to any student. Annotations won't make it any better.

Do your students a favor and NEVER use this book in class again.

and theres 64 pages. The Book tells a story about a Boy names Kevin and a girl names Cathy . Kevin don't like his step father so he live in the bus of his aunt, in a Coffee shop in New York he meet a girl names Cathy . She is in trouble but want talk to Kevin about her problems, Kevin and his Aunt think her nasty Grandma is in 1 of the biggest Gangs in New York .

I like the Book because its very exciting and easy to read, So its a good book for class 7 or 8.
