More Than Anything | 5 Week Study | Loving God Above Everything Else
There are many things vying for the affections of the heart, but only God can truly fulfill our needs and satisfy every longing. But, how can we figure out if we love God most? And what should we do if we realize we’ve been treasuring other things above God?
More Than Loving God Above Everything Else is a five week study that
•Explain the idolatry displayed in Scripture along with common ways we continue to struggle with idolatry today •Help you stop searching for fulfillment in temporary things and instead find fulfillment in God •Encourage you to examine where you have been trusting in powerless idols to meet your daily needs •Show you why God is the only source of peace and joy that is eternal and unchanging
Key idolatry, approval, control, body image, relationships, materialism, security, comfort, worship, identity, the gospel.
I really loved this study!! It was such a good look at the different things that become idolatrous in our lives - some tangible, some not! Super practical and very convicting!! They definitely did not sugarcoat. Also a good balance of scripture to back up the different topics. Highly recommend this one!
I really enjoyed this Bible study. I completed it in a small group setting with a group of 15 women in their 20s. We all really enjoyed how it pulled out the idols in our lives that are so easy to look at without a label. Food, time, friends, family, etc. are all such good things that it’s easy to justify their idolization of. I highly recommend this study to anyone looking for an in depth dive into where they spend their time and energy and where they prioritize anything else above God.
Some reviewers have stated this study was not enjoyable because it was “self-centered and not God-centered”. This study is focused on looking inward on your personal walk with Christ and the small things in life that you may or may not make bigger than God. It makes you think about yourself and how your actions and motivations impact your relationship with God.
This book gave me a lot to think about and pointed out potential idols in my life that I hadn't even considered before. However, by the end the questions were feeling very repetitive and it felt like there was a lot of overlap between the topics that didn't lend to as much being explored within each one.
This is such a great workbook! It really opens your eyes to the everyday idols in our life with a short devotion and then questioning to make you think!!
