When I get married had been replaced by If I get married in the thoughts of Nurse Penelope Hunt, for several hurtful experiences in the past had left her somewhat disillusioned. So when she went to work as nurse-receptionist to a distinguished Harley Street specialist she was very much on her guard, for Doctor Laurence Venables' attraction for women was undeniable and overwhelming. Try as she would, however, she could not manage to stop herself falling in love with him. She could hardly believe it when he asked her to marry him.
Written somewhat under the shade of the guardian/ward trope, i enjoyed how the romance progressesd between the leads i found very "likeable" on a personal and professional level. Heroine has been working under the protective eye of an old doctor who dies and suddenly the H, who is a very renowned doctor, comes to take over and has been requested by will to look after the young h and her brother. H is already engaged and is acting very fatherly towards the h when they first meet. However, feelings between the Mcs start to change, ow goes away with someone else. The mcs marry , have a honeymoon, h gets pregnant, marriage gets into trouble when ow comes back but....i liked the way the mcs quicly resolve all the misunderstanding s. It is precisely the gradual development of romance, camaraderie and an unconditional love that makes this a very sweet romance between two most "suited" individuals who are also great in their profession s. Highly recommend it.
