This cookbook makes me REALLY hungry and I’ve already eaten today…

Ramen: 80 Easy Noodle Bowls and Broths by Makiko Sano is a fun cookbook with various ramen recipes and context for their creation.

First, let me be clear that while this book has recipes, the steps are not as focused as I’d like in cookbooks. Sure they have e descriptions and ingredients, but the steps aren’t broken up as much as you might like.

Still…the book is filled with delectable photos of various ramen, each recipes has a line or two about the history, cultural, or translation of the ramen, and they broke up the recipes into different styles.

The intro chapter even has a little context for ramen as a food and its importance to my diet…I mean global diet…

This was such a find for my husband and I. We love Ramen, and to be able to make it at home has been on our list of culinary adventures and desired cook books. I personally enjoy how this goes beyond simple recipes and delves into the history, artistic technique, and process of making Ramen. Formatted differently from most cook books, it is still easy to follow and provides authentic recipes, as well as creative new ones, as well as provides a flexibility to make your own ramen recipe! This book is both informational and unique; I found very much worth my time to read and explore in the art of ramen making.

My low score is not a comment on the recipes themselves, but on the Kindle edition’s usability. The pages appear as low-resolution, fixed-layout images: text is blurry, photos are pixelated, and font size can’t be adjusted. On a computer, Kindle and phone screens the book is practically unreadable, so I can’t evaluate its actual content.

I really liked this book! I think I’m going to have to put this in my Amazon cart. I wish there were more pictures, I’m the kind of girl that needs pictures with everything to understand what it’s supposed to look like as opposed to what I make it look like. I want to try everything.

I got this book because the urge to soup was very strong! I’ve copied a few recipes to try this winter, but so far haven’t made one. Regardless, loved the layout and ease of ingredients and instructions!

The cover art is fantastic and the photography makes me want to cook everything I see. A well put together cookbook that makes the art of ramen seem approachable to a newbie.

Lots of good options in here, plus lots of things (and toppings) that I hadn't even considered. Putting your ramen on a bowl with cheese and putting it under the grill! My goodness!

This has very detailed chapters about types of noodles, toppings, condiments, broths and oils.
The recipes would be easy to convert for allergies or tastes.
My favourite? Ponyo Ramen! 🍜
