Have you ever thought there was something better just around the corner? Somewhere beyond where you are now? Leaping Through Life is an adventure story, and a spiritual journey, spanning over 60 years. Jeff Hoke has traveled from east to west, and his autobiography takes us from the heights of the Himalayas to the depths of creativity. On his travels, he meets dreamers, visionaries, and the famous and ordinary heroes of everyday life. This is an inspiring tale of chances taken and lessons learned—a funny, irreverent search for meaning.
Hoke explores different spiritual traditions to search for truths and finds many surprises along the way. You’ll go behind the scenes to uncover quirky cults and even quirkier museums. Through lucid dreaming, hypnosis and meditation he sometimes finds answers, but they often lead to more questions.

This book is a delightful series of short anecdotes concerning key aspects of the author Jeff Hoke’s life. I loved his earlier huge, comprehensive magnum opus ‘The Museum of Lost Wonder;’ in fact, I dedicated an entire podcast to it. This book, ‘Leaping Through Life: Confessions of an Unexpected Adventurer,’ is stylistically the opposite of ‘The Museum,’ in that it is short, concise, even breezy. And yet both are worth buying and reading. I read ‘Leaping’ upon getting it in the mail straight through in one sitting. I could not stop; I was so entranced. Then I read it again straight through the following day. It is less an autobiography than a highly creative new form of Bildungsroman, as it really traces Hoke’s inner spiritual, artistic and intellectual development through his life so far, including his adventures in the museum world, art, Tibet, other travels and much more, rather than details of his personal life like relationships and so on. The development of his thoughts. Do not be put off by my description if that sounds heavy. There are weighty implications to his adventures and misadventures, but they are told in a highly readable and enjoyable fashion. Short, sweet, memorable. Get it. Read it. Then get ‘The Museum of Lost Wonder’ and read that on and off for the rest of your life.
