Re-read 2020 - 4 stars

I still loved it, loved these characters but I fell in love with this book when ebooks were a new thing. This was fresh at the time. Now, I think new readers have to be down with a flip-floppy love triangle and get along with Cheyenne's immaturity but clearly I know what I’m getting with this book. The writing is generally engaging but with moments of 'too much'. My plan is to reread the first 5 books and finish the series up to book 7 this year. Let’s see how that goes...

Original reviews

This was in my top 5 reads of 2012. The characters were so intriguing and the storyline was unique in a Ebook world flooded with paranormal fiction (not that I'm complaining). I thought that Cheyenne's relationship with Colt couldn't be surpassed, then Callon comes on the scene. Couldn't wait to continue reading the series.

2016: this is about my fifth read of this book. It doesn't quite hold the same excitement when I know how the story turns out in the long run, and the fact I was disappointed in how the outcome comes about. However, the romance and fantasy of elements of this book are well written. I am not a fan of love triangles and yet I love this one. I'm going to work through this series again and then pick up the books I haven't read. I do think this book deserves higher visibility.

2 stars - Amazon Freebie!
Brace yourself for one - by my standards - long-ass, not so nice review. No idea how this happened, guess I'm in a chatty mood today. I've kept this review pretty much spoiler free, though, admittedly, there wasn't much to spoil in the first place.

You know, up until a day ago, I could never understand what people were trying to tell me when they said a story was suffering from the 'no showing, just telling' syndrome. I would always be like: 'Duh, you're reading a book, not watching a movie, of course they tell! How the hell else is an author supposed to convey their story?' But know what? This book has taught me exactly what it means to 'tell, not show'. I can't remember ever reading a fiction novel as purely descriptive as this one.
Save the first one or two chapters, I felt nothing while reading this book – literally nothing. Nichts, nada, rien, niente. No, wait. I felt boredom. Annoyance, occasionally. Can you feel something like indifference? What I mean is, I didn't feel any of the emotions the main character was supposed to be feeling. Fear? Nope. Frustration? Nuh-uh. Confusion. Nah. Love? Bitch, please. Sure, we were told plentily that she was scared. That she was angry. How much love she felt. But, except for her sadness in the beginning, not once was I able to empathize.

But before I continue, let me say this: I didn't hate this book. The premise was promising, albeit not exactly original. The protagonist (and name-giver for this novel), Cheyenne, wasn't terrible. The guys were sort of hot (though I didn't care much for Callon). There were parts I really liked, when the story's potential would become apparent and I would grip my Kindle harder and inwardly yell 'Yesssss, keep going!' What I'm trying to say is, I've definitely read worse.
But... I've read a lot better, too.

Cheyenne... she's the typical damsel in distress, surrounded by three hot, self-appointed protectors – Colt, Callon and Daniel. I don't mind the damsel trope. As much as I love a strong, independent heroine, I can't say I don't appreciate a protective alpha hunk every now and again. Three of them? Even better! And let's face it, a fragile human, male or female, just isn't a match for a bunch of bloodthirsty, huge-ass doglike creatures sent to tear them to shreds. Three supernatural guardians with super powers, however... It's just the logical, sensible thing to do to let the guys fight your battles in this case. What infuriated me, though, was how the heroine was being kept in the dark as to what was going on and her acceptance of their withholding (for no logical reason whatsoever, by the way, other than adding more drama).
And what's with everybody she happens to bump into being totally enthralled and awed by her immediately and kissing the ground she walks on? There is nothing – I repeat, nothing! - special about Cheyenne, except for her heritage, and we're not even told what that ultimately means for her, and still everybody professes their undying love and loyalty to her within a day (alright, I might be exaggerating a little – except for Lily, who does exactly that). Again, everbody in this book keeps gushing about what a lovely little thing Cheyenne is, so loving and independent and strong-willed. Does she prove to have any of those traits? Nope.
And all that touchy-feely fuss? Everyone pawing everyone all the time? Sheyenne receives most of the attention, of course. She is constantly either wrapped in someone's arms, being carried around bridal style, sitting in laps, having arms around her waist, being kissed on the cheek or forehead or having her hands held – no surprise, actually, since she's perpetually bruised and banged up due to her own clumsiness or her protectors' failure in protecting her.
The so-called love triangle was lame, too, as anyone involved obviously couldn't have cared less who got the girl (myself included), at least until the 'big revelation' at the end. Speaking of which: ugh.

This book is full of plotholes and illogicalities. I have no idea if some of those things will be elaborated on in the following installments – I sure hope so, for all the other readers' sakes – but I won't find out anyway. The mystery feels contrite, the dialogues cheesy and/or stilted. There's hardly any world-building. Even the writing style seems uninspired and repetitive.
I'm sorry, but I really didn't enjoy this one.

Sometimes free books can disappoint you…. But let me tell you, this one DEFINITELY DOES NOT! I liked it a lot, and the only reason I rated it 4 stars is because it left me wanting more, and the next book is not to be released for another month! Can I wait that long? Well, I don’t have a choice, do I?

Cheyenne’s adoptive parents die in a vehicular accident and her BFF, Colt isn’t there to comfort her as he usually is; and there’s a reason for that, but once he come back he does what he does best, cradles her in his arms and comforts her. She’s driven to find out more about her parents, her bio parents, and learns she isn’t quite all human. She’s part of a race who are sort of immortal, but not really since they can actually die, tho not by any human means. Once she reaches her 20th birthday or so, she’ll go through a transformation and become what they call ‘Timeless’, and only age one year for every 100 human years; along with having special ‘gifts’ or abilities, and heal faster than any human if injured.

She is being hunted to be killed simply because of what she is, or will be, a Timeless, and Colt, along with his two ‘half brothers’, Callon and Daniel do their best to protect her, as that is initially what their job has been for the last two years without her knowing about it. She’s been kept a secret to avoid her existence from being known to the ‘evil clan’ who wants her dead. Throughout the book many incidents occur to her or around her, and she feels guilty for causing so much trouble to those she loves and who are only trying to protect her. She comes to terms that she loves Colt, just like he loves her, but also she feel this deep ‘pull’ towards Callon as well; realizing she may love him too.

When most secrets that have been kept from her to protect her come out, she feels betrayed by them all. She learns she is the last surviving member of a clan who was the ‘royalty’ of their race, and also, (and kind of shocking tho I knew it was coming, somehow), she is supposed to be betrothed to…Callon! Not whom she initially fell in love with. They all want her to fulfill her destiny, and join them in order to place order back to their clans, and save them, but she is too heartbroken and feels so betrayed by all the secrets they’ve kept from her, she just give up. She decides SHE will make her own destiny, and marry whom she wants; she will leave them at the first chance she gets and go on her own.

I can’t wait to read the next books and find out what happens to Cheyenne in her journey next. =)

Someone tell me why this book has 4 stars. Only I know what torture it was to read this. The main character, Cheyenne, was the most stupid character ever. The author tried so hard to make her sound all mature n conniving, but failed miserably. So two guys are touching her n kissing her through out the day while she kidnapped n she's cool with it. She has no feeling, I mean no " love" feelings for the other guy but she lets him molest her because he's her best friend n "protector". She decided she had feeling for both the guys with the first 100 pages... Say whaaa.....

Her freaking "best friend" n two other guys kidnap her and she's not even crying n fighting to get out. She's just okay with it. Because her best friend makes her feel "protected". She escaped once. Just once. N she just gave up because after that the guys fed her a story bout clans, and being timeless. N guess what the idiot bought it. *face palm*

Ohh did I mention she was being kissed n touched n groped n god knows what else and she was cool with it cause they're "best friend" and she feels "protected". I'm sorry but if my best friend ever does that my fist is going to be flying right through his face.

When he kissed her, she didn't even stop him, even thought she wanted him to stop. She didn't even do anything after that because she was feeling "protected". And then 10 seconds later she was being pulled into a forest by the other guy, were her dress ripped n got scratches all over her legs. The fuccc.....

So basically the chick loves being man handled, and molested if it makes her feel "protected".

The only saving grace was Daniel. Only a little cause he wasn't as annoying.

I hated colt n callon. I've never hated my male lead guys as much as I hated them.

Okay, forgetting the story, the writing was poor. Having read a lot of high quality books this one seemed very childish in comparison. There were a lot of extra words n sentences that weren't needed. The author was detailing everything like we're 2 years old and wouldn't understand where the characters are coming from when they speak.

The story had potential. The author could've made something good out of it, but she just added a lot of chaos all at once. With all the clans n war. The author tried to make it sound big n vengeful, but it just all sounded all dumb when it came out in words. If she had toned down the supposed "love triangle", and focused more on the story n quality it could've been a good one.

This book was a major *facepalm* never again. I don't even wanna look at the sequels.

I'M IN LOVE WITH CALLON!!!!!!!!!!!!

....Sorry. Just had to get that out :P

I got this book free for kindle, and like all free books I went in not expecting that much. But I was pleasently suprised! The "timeless" concept was not something I had come across before so I found it quite interesting.

I really liked the protagonist Cheyenne (minus the weird name which I have no idea how you even pronounce) she was determinded and strong and didn't act like a damsal in distress, holding her own. I liked all the guys, Callon the evasive and mysterious, Daniel the care free joker and Colt the good guy. Although Colt's constantly lovey-dovey ness kinda made me want to barf sometimes. And the twist at the end was sooooo good!

The whole time reading I was in constant suspicion trying to figure out who was lying, which in a way was very good but sometimes I did find myself feeling slightly frustrated just wanting TO KNOW THE FULL STORY ALREADY.

I would have enjoyed a bit more humor in the book, it all felt quite heavy and some more banter would have made me enjoy it alot more, which is one of the reasons I would have liked to hear more from Daniel.

I felt in constant suspense waiting for the next bit of action or truth to be uncovered, enjoying the fast pace of the book and I literally couldn't put it down in some parts. I got through it in 2 days!

Overall I enjoyed the story, even though it did feel slightly like a start up book, and am curious to see what will happen next. I feel like the next book will be a lot better now more has slotted into place and the real story shall begin.

Okay, so I had to post this review because I could not believe this book has a 4 star rating. No, I mean I literally didn't believe it. I thought I had the wrong book, I wen't back and double checked like five times. All I have to say to that is: WHAT! WHY? Seriously????

Moving on, I will admit to you guys that I really only read the first two/thirds of the book and skim read the last third. I wish I could say that I'm one of those people who prides themselves on finishing a book if they start it, but I've moved way past the phase. Life's too short, especially to waste on a bad book.

First I'll start with the positive: The plot and story had great potential. The guys were hot. She had two highlights where she actually kicked ass and earned my respect. Those being her escape attempt and killing one of those evil beast demon thingies.

Now for the negative: Where to start, where to start...ok probably my biggest pet peeve is the main character, Cheyenne. Although she talked a great, huge talk about how independent and self-sufficient she is, that's all it was talk. Other than her ONE escape attempt she made no move to try to get away, and not for nothing, but if my supposed best friend showed up with two other dudes and kidnapped me, held me hostage, and treated me like a dimwitted heiffercow that they had to shepherd around, I would not have forgiven him after a week that's for sure. Hell our friendship would be over, after a swift kick to the 'nads.

Also, I get that some, I repeat some, women start pmsing around that time of the month and she was suffering from 'increased hormones', but COME ON! The way Cheyenne was acting you'd think women on their periods turn into wild, irrational, rabid cows that men need to tend to. Also, what kind of person is not bothered by three so called hot attractive guys knowing your on your period, with one of them (who you barely know) going out and buying you tampons. Not saying it wasn't a sweet gesture, but wouldn't you be even a little embarrassed?

Jeep scene, don't even get me started on that, was it supposed to impress me? Maybe if you had put that much effort into escaping, then I might actually have some respect for you. Also the guys, yea they're hot, but honestly those are three of the most chauvinistic, unrealistic, weirdly touchy feely, condescending asshats I've ever met.

Whoopee another love triangle. Vom.

Soo most of you have probably seen the commercials about Taco Bell's Cantina Burrito Bowlthing. Chipotle fans out there know it as a thinly disguised attempt to ape their ohsodelicious burrito bowls. Hah! Unfortunately I suffer from the misfortune of no Chipotle around where I live (Chipotle if you're reading this please take note). Anyway it's yesterday and there I was at Taco Bell, and I decided to try it thinking, "Hey, why not? How bad could it be?".

*Face to palm

Needless to say I won't be trying that again. I should've known better. I really should have, just those pictures and packaging make you try things in spite of your better judgement.

So where was I going with this? Oh yea, the point of this rambling story is this: Cheyenne is a knock-off Chipotle burrito bowl. It comes with the pretty pictures, it seems to have all the right ingredients, but when you actually sit down to savor it you're left with nothing but a sense of dissatisfaction and a bad taste in your mouth.

I just want to say that this is my opinion. There are people out there who like it, but if you're like me and you like snarky, independent heroines ready to dispense some asskicking, this is not for you.

I got this ebook free on Amazon, and I had high hopes for it because of the glowing reviews both here and on Amazon. I really wanted to like this book, but had a hard time getting all the way through it.

Cheyenne is a girl just coming into womanhood, trapped between two worlds. On the one hand, there is her childhood love, a man connecting her to her past life and her now passed on adoptive parents. On the other hand, there is her love's brother, and the world she knows nothing about, but in which she discovers she has a predetermined role to fulfill.

This story, particularly the backstory, has so much potential to be great. Unfortunately I find this book to fall quite short in a number of ways. Had the storyline been more action, more suspense from the actual backstory, and less angsty teenage emo ramblings, there really could have been something here. Sadly, this book is a prime example of "show me, don't tell me". Cheyenne spends half the novel telling us how she and the other characters feel, instead of letting their actions show us what is going on.

I appreciate that Ms. Wiedmeier is trying to create a strong female heroine for her stories, but again I wish that this were shown through the text, instead of us just being told that she can take care of herself. Yes, there are a couple of bright spots in the book where Cheyenne proves to us how capable she is of caring for herself, but unfortunately more often than not she is left standing alone, crying for her protectors to come and save her.

I will be looking into further books by Ms. Wiedmeier and I have great hope that, as she grows as an author, she will find her voice and be able to tell her wonderful stories with the beauty that occasionally erupts in the book Cheyenne.

I really wanted to like this book for a few reasons, but I just can't do it. As soon as I got a whiff of (pardon my French) YA love triangle bullshit, my interest completely evaporated. I feel like Cheyenne was working hard to tell me how interested she was in Colt, so I was actually looking forward to see a nice relationship progress. Then she's suddenly going weird and sexy-flirty with the new guy who's basically a jerk, and I gave up.

And what was up with that scene with the laptop in the truck? Seriously? Seriously!? Am I still supposed to identify with and respect Cheyenne after that?

In any case, I didn't have any issues with the writing style or grammar like I did with some other YA paranormal romances. If you are a fan of love triangles, you'll probably enjoy this book.

I loved this book and am dying because the next one isn't due out for another month at least. Plus, there are going to be a bunch of them and I really hate waiting to continue the story! (Harry Potter anyone?) This is a captivating story because it involves so many great things like mystery, suspense, fantasy, coming of age aspects, romance. It has it all. Plus, it was very clean. A little kissing and a handful of mild expletives but nothing that made me feel uncomfortable. I'll be anxiously awaiting the release of book 2!

I enjoyed this story and even though I classified it as a ya book I'm not sure I want my teenage daughter reading it. Lots of sexual overtones. I get why a teen girl would like it though - the angst of two guys fighting over you and being perfectly gentlemanly while doing it would be enticing to any young girl. For me the reveal, or big secret, came waaaayyyy too late in the book and there is lots of redundancy. But all in all I'm probably going to continue reading because I want to know what happens!

I loved it! The only disappointment is that the next book is not available yet. I cannot wait to read the entire series to see how Cheyenne's destiny unfolds and where her heart leads her.

Ugh. I moved recently, and all my books are in boxes. So I turned to my trusty Kindle, and came across this book. The premise seemed compelling enough, so I decided to give it a read.

What a horrible waste of time.

Firstly, this book really, REALLY needed an editor. There were spelling and grammar errors everywhere: plurals with apostrophes, incorrect comma usage, weird semi-colons littered throughout, inconsistent spelling, etc. There was also 99% telling, 1% showing. And an editor really needed to take some of the cheese out of this book.

I am a cheesy person. I love cheesy romances, and I am a sucker for love triangles. But the "romance" in this book made me cringe. I got no sense that Cheyenne actually loved either of the men, or that they loved her. Sure, I was told pretty much every page how much love there was and how Colt loved her so much that he would die for her, blah blah blah...but the emotions didn't register for me.

And on the topic of cheesy: the dialogue. Oh, my goodness. So bad. People just don't talk like that. There were moments that were supposed to be funny, or sarcastic, or witty, and they just fell flat. Because instead of the words coming across a certain way, I was told (often multiple times on a single page), that a character said or replied sarcastically, authoritatively, cunningly, slyly, with anxiety, with empathy, with sympathy, in distress, with love, etc.

Moving on to Cheyenne, the main character. I did not like her. I think she is supposed to be this strong, independent woman (Lilly says as much at one point), but that never comes across. She is constantly being rescued, always being carried or lifted like a sack of potatoes (her words, not mine, if memory serves), and basically does what she is told, despite not having any information.

And she acts like she has literally never seen an attractive man before whenever she looks at Colt. This guy is supposedly her best friend, but she blushes every time he looks at her, smiles at her, winks at her, is shirtless, or touches her with his "bulky", "thick" fingers. (Why? Why do fingers need to be described in this way so many times?)

Plot-wise, nothing really happened. There were a few attacks, some un-steamy intimate moments, the occasional info-dump, and a whole lot of sleeping and sandwich eating. So. Many. Sandwiches. I know I'm nitpicking at this point, but really. Too many sandwiches.

Will definitely not be continuing the series. Bright side? This book motivated me to unpack my boxes.

This was just god awful. I don’t even know why I finished this. I guess there was hope that it would get better. Talk about false hope. Every main character was boring as hell. The story was all over the place. And the romance that was supposed to be explored? Dead and nonexistent.

Read the full review at Witchmag's Boekenplank

To be honest? I was a bit disappointed with this book. When you read it, you can see between the lines how much potential this book has, but it’s not expressed in the story. Every time there’s an impressive build up, my feelings of angst / excitement, ooze away before the bang, the conclusion. Or the situation is handled in such a way that it left me hanging, unsatisfied. Therefore, I had to put this book away, repeatedly. But I managed to persevere! I read till the end but even that wasn’t really satisfying.. It was even more pale in comparison to the rest of the story. Not something that would make me want read the next book. It’s more of a summary of what happened, something you expect at the beginning of the NEXT book, to get up to date.

Okay, so all the potential this book had, stayed unused. But what about the story? When thinking about it, not much happens. Cheyenne’s parents die, she has to flee, she gets saved, gets attacked, gets saved, gets attacked, and so on… You can imagine this became a bit boring after a while, can’t you? It’s too predictable and dull. Okay, there’s some character growth and she slowly manages to hold her own, more or less, but at the end she’s still a damsel in distress that needs to be rescued, over and over again. Not my favorite kind of heroin. I prefer the spunky, I’ll-kick-your-ass-and-am-not-afraid-to-rescue-the-hero kind. Oh and Cheyenne thinks, a lot. Her first reaction is to describe her feelings and those of her friends around her, before taking action. Uhm… don’t you need to act pronto in a life or death situation?

And I still don’t get what the big deal about Cheyenne is, besides her being special (DUH). The back bone of the story and the stuff with the clans is clear to me, but not what Cheyenne’s role in it is. I want more details! Like what’s the difference between clan people and normal people? What are their tasks? What do they need to protect? And so on, and so on. It’s not explained at all and even Cheyenne doesn’t ask about it, which I found a bit weird, since she just found out about all of it….

The jumps in time this book has didn’t sit well with me. Especially in the beginning. There’s only one sentence that separates a touching part of how Cheyenne copes with the death of her parents the first couple of days (very well written!) and a budding romance. My feelings of sorrow didn’t get the time to fade away, there was no gradual transition. It was boom paf and now we’re talking about romance! I know there’s a sentence that says that 5 weeks have passed. But one sentence is too short for my feelings to go from sorrow to romance time!

Talking about romance time, of course we have the usual love triangle. I have no problem with those, as long as they are executed well. And well executed isn’t the case when the main character is unable to choose, even after sampling both parties. A kiss here and a hug there. And she still can’t make up her mind! I know it can be difficult, but think about the other party too, please. It will only hurt them more if you don’t end it! I was more miffed about the lack of action on the men’s side. Where’s the fighting for her love? They acted more like they didn’t really care with whom she ends up.

So this was what made me put the book away, repeatedly, but what made me continue reading? What gave me the strength to go on? There are some parts that are sooo hilarious. Like “how to get something out of a car without having keys for said car”. It was too stupid for words, I had to hold my stomach from laughing so hard. Little things like that made reading the book worthwhile ^^

Conclusion: 2 hearts. Between the lines I could see the potential this book has, but unfortunately it doesn’t live up to it. Some time jumps in the story don’t give you enough time to switch between you’re feelings. The love triangle isn’t the best I’ve read about and Cheyenne behaves like a damsel in distress most of the times. Even the ending didn’t make me love the book. What saved it, though, were the hilarious parts in between, which gave me the strength to go on.

Hea y'all I finished reading Cheyenne by Lisa Wiedmeier and you know this book was really a refreshing read! The striking cover will fool most onlookers into thinking this is a strictly romance novel but I am here to tell you it is so much more than that. I really liked this book it sucked me in from chapter one where your presented with Cheyenne a girl who has had a close to normal life with her parents, her only complaints were the constant moving which inhibited her from making friends but now almost grown and ready to graduate with her best friend Colt, Cheyennes' life is about to be completely thrown into a tornado of emotions and pain. Lisa does a wonderful job painting the scenes in this book as most takes place in lush wooded areas or by waterfalls that would take your breath away if seen in real life. Every scene is described in so much detail that you feel as if your walking along side Cheyenne as the journey into her new and kind of unwanted life begins. Enter Callon and Daniel the other pieces to Cheyennes' new life the three guys she will journey with, fall for and fight for her life with. The male characters are handsome and can be irritating at times, much like real men that's why it's so easy to love them. Cheyenne faces decisions that will not only affect her life but the lives of several other clans of people. Can she be their salvation, can she carry the burden of what her parents started, or will she turn away broken and defeated? This book is so intense the action scenes are grandly detailed and well plotted never leaving the reader wanting for anymore. The book is loaded with humor and witticism, causing me several times to burst out laughing when poor Cheyenne gets into her antics and those guys love to tease and torment her about her mistakes. Heart warming scenes of friendship and love keep the book well paced and inviting as the characters grow to love one another on so many different levels. My heart raced and my breath quickened when the book rounded the ending I was left desperately wanting book 2 now. I've become entwined in the lives of the Timeless and can't wait to read where they go and what is to come for Cheyenne as her mind bending life carries her forward with her protectors into an unknown future. 5 out of 5 stars for Cheyenne book 1 in the Timeless series by Lisa Wiedmeier.

I started out reading this book just because I downloaded it along with many others that caught my eye, kind of as a last-resort book. I'm glad I started it. I was intrigued from the beginning. It started out strong and didn't falter in its intensity. Cheyenne is a strong female character that makes you want to be her friend as well as protect her at all costs. The relationship she has with Colt is amusing and sweet to read. But the connection she has with Callon is intense with mystery. I couldn't decide whose team I was on-Team Colt or Team Callon. A lot of the time I was pulling for Callon because it seemed like his staunch mannerisms needed a female touch. He is very straight forward and take charge leader of his clam of Timeless. But he always kept a lot of information from Cheyenne which made me just mad. Colt was easy going most of the time, jokester that she could lose herself in from all the turmoil of finding out she was a Timeless. Daniel is the 3rd brother who she sees as a brother figure who teases her all the time. To keep her safe from the leader of the Servak clan, they basically had to make a prisoner in their home which rubbed her the wrong way. She escaped them on a few occasions to be caught and brought back for "her own safety". The ending had me speechless! After finding out she was the last of the ruling Clan, everything changed. Including who she could love.

I have to say there are things I liked about this book (the chemistry and romance and Colt primarily, Callon was an okay second best but my heart was with Colt); but there were a lot of things I wasn't quite meshing with. And, yet, I was thankful for the two chapters of book two to go on. I'm left wanting to know what happens in the end with the tribes and spoiler alert - if Cheyenne is once again infected from the claw of the Tresez - but mostly, because I want to know if she ends up with Colt in the end. I don't care about the whole betrothed thing to his brother because he's the eldest and wears the ring.

My vote is 'Team Colt'. Over all, a cute story. Even though the MC is over-protected and seems quite wimpy when she is supposed to be this woman to reunite all the TIMELESS clans. But, toward the end she seems to actually demonstrate the strength she is supposed to be gaining, along with a few cool little powers of her own. And, she hasn't actually turned TIMELESS yet. But, in reading the reader knows she is close. Closer than they think. At least that is what 'I' think.

I won a copy of this book, the first of nine in the series. It looks like the full version of #2 will be on my list. Because, well. I gotta' know. Although, committing to eight more books to find out is teetering.

I am in love! It is not very often I read a novel I can't put down. Cheyenne is a story about an eighteen year old girl whose life is more important than she ever dreamed. When school ends for Cheyenne, her best friend, Colt, along with two others kidnap her. Now, in their defense it's for her own safety. But this is not to her liking. Having just lost her adoptive parents she must now begin to discover just who, or what, she is. But with Colt, Callon, and Daniel being so cryptic and holding her against her will she's at a disadvantage. Sometimes, however, being held captive by three handsome guys isn't totally a bad thing. Especially when they seem to have a bunch of answers. Just what is a Timeless? Why is she such a big deal? And why does it seem like two hot men seem to be fighting over her? I adore this story. It's one I can read again and again. It's not your average teenage girl story. It's fantastically written and makes you want to turn the page. Lisa Wiedmeier is incredibly talented and doesn't use cheap tricks to make you keep reading. She pulls you into her world and you just want to bask in it. Cheyenne is clever, headstrong, and easy to relate to. I highly recommend this book. I would be surprised if you didn't take the time.

Frozen in time, the world could have ended and I wouldn't have noticed. Well maybe that's an overstatement, but I didn't notice the laundry or dishes and barely took time to feed my kids while I was wrapped up in Cheyenne's story. I connected with her right from the start and was completely immersed in her journey.
Not knowing anything of the book prior to reading it (not description, genre, author, ratings or reviews), i was completely entertained by what was seemingly a youth romance in the beginning and quickly led me through a doorway into the Timeless. Colt and Callon are yummy characters that at times I want to either kiss or punch (as with most men) while Daniel is the brother/good guy type that holds the trio of brothers together and gives Cheyenne a safe place to fall.
This book didn't seem to be paced as most other books are, as if they are spreading the plot over a number of pages to fill a quota. Cheyenne's story is action packed from the start and filled with friendship, romance and intrigue. I just can't believe it is the author's first book and that I was lucky enough to get it for free. I can't wait to read more from her.

Before I read this story, I was never that much into YA Romance. But this story has warmly welcomed me into the genre! Following the trials and tribulations of Cheyenne as she is thrown into a world she never knew existed after the death of her parents, this story will grab you by the throat and not let go. The characterization is excellent- you really do feel as if you are living and breathing Cheyenne's life, and are watching the story beside her. The cast of characters are interesting and fun, and the story mixes a good blend of character introspection and tense action and drama.

While in places the writing quality fluctuates a little, and some scenes are a little far-fetched, the characters are intriguing, and keep you hooked. If you can forgive its naivety in places, it's definitely worth the read.

It was a unique story with an original idea, I loved it. I couldn't put it down.

I did have a little confusion as the different clans where being explained, but it did get easier to understand as I went along. So this very well could have just been me, and not a fault of the author. I loved the characters, and felt myself rooting for Cheyenne, laughing out loud, and feeling her heartbreak. A few scenes felt a little over-the-top, but overall it was a great read, and I felt myself wanting to know more.

(I do think the author is making a mistake by not releasing the other novels that she has finished, she could have a great following already if she would start releasing them now.)

This is a wonderful paranormal romance, one of the best that I have read.

Lisa's characterisation of the main character is thoughtful, and you are instantly drawn into the circumstances in which Cheyenne finds herself.

Descriptions and emotions flow as you read further.

I read this in two days flat - I just couldn't put it down - and if I had to make a complaint it is simply that I cannot wait for the next one. Having read it well over a month ago now, I am still itching to find out what happens next...

This was a free read. I totally got sucked in ... looking forward to the next book.

This book is totally YA, but love the sci-fi in it. It may be marked YA some where and I missed it, but I wouldn't have downloaded it if I would have known ... just because they are so hit and miss with me. The author did a wonderful job creating and building this Timeless race. I'm looking forward to learning more about them. Of course I need to find out what happens with Cheyenne too, and Callon, and Colt ...

This book is basically about a girl who can't decide between two guys, oh yeah and they have powers and people are after them. It seemed to drag on so much that I skimmed sections. It seemed very repetitive, with not a lot happening. They travelled here they travelled there. They were in danger then they were not. She became angry at the guys and then they became angry at each other. It was just a frustrating read. I cared nothing about the characters, and by the end decided that she should have no one. I will not be getting the sequel when it is released.
Will I read it again? No way

So.. I got the first book in this series as a free book and tore through it in about 2 days. It's your typical story about someone who has a destiny mingled with a love story. There were certain times when I thought "I'm really reading a teen book right now" because it was reminiscent of some others I've read before. I'd prefer if the overwhelming emotions and angst didn't run rampant through Young Adult novels, but I also realize it sells.

I'm invested in these characters now, so I'm currently awake at 3am, looking for the 2nd book..

*sigh*

It was good not great just good. I love Daniel because he's such the adorable typical brother character. I loved that the horses were a constant and the connection she has with Mandi. I liked Cheyenne as a stubborn protagonist but I didn't like how she was really wishy washy one page she would be like I'm gonna defy the guys and get answers and the next she wouldn't even remember she made that promise to herself. I hated the love triangle and how rushed the last chapter (26) was.
