Your every fantasy will be laid bare as you devour these sure, sensual stories. In Best Lesbian Erotica 2012, women are looking for a little bit of everything: love, lust, someone they can trust. In the bath, at the "toy" store, or in the kitchen, they’re ready to take a chance that could lead to the experience of a lifetime. This year’s guest judge is the Sugarbutch herself: Sinclair Sexsmith, poet, performer, impresario. Mr. Sexsmith has selected work from an international field of authors, from top names in erotic fiction, to outstanding newcomers.
DeJay’s "Never Too Old" proves that an old(ish) butch can learn new tricks, even if it means showing her boxers to an impossibly young salesgirl. Last year's judge, Lea DeLaria, slips between the covers of this year's edition with her story about love...or lust...in an elevator. In "Skindeep," Anna Watson tells the story of a femme who gets to the bottom of her lover’s disappearing acts.
Best Lesbian Erotica 2012 is fully loaded, literary and lustful. Curated by Lambda Award-nominated editor Kathleen Warnock, this volume is long on variety and even longer on beautifully developed characters who are as interesting as they are interested in getting girls.
Thanks Ily for my First Reads copy! It's my first erotic anthology that I actually own, and it's the first book I've ever had personalized with my name!
This was by far one of the most complete erotic works I've ever come across. It had women of all backgrounds, ages, and gender identities. It was also the first erotica anthology I've read made up solely of female identifying lesbian characters.
You see, I worked at an adult shop for about a year and would occasionally flip through the books we sold (usually Penthouse collections) and while they had lesbian/ girl-girl stories, it was almost solely for the benefit and pleasure of the male watching them (and eventually joining); not actually enjoying each other.
Although I did not fancy all of the stories, I found true love in the following storylines (to name a few): a 50's pinup wifey waiting for her partner (and hot car) to drive on in the garage for a steamy romp in said car, a roleplaying sexy Girl Scout/policeman combo, and an old married couple perusing a sex shop to spice up the love life (this one pretty much sang to me- as I worked in a shop much like the one described and adored my job). Not to mention Catholic schoolgirls. Awww yeeah.
Some stories spoke to me more than others, and even if I wasn't particularily fond of a certain story there was almost always something within the story that I did like. My only complaint about the collection is that the majority of the stories were unromantic. I'm an old school romantic deep down. And even when "I love you" was being thrown around, they felt forced. I know that the majority of the audience (myself included, depending on my mood) just want to get down to it and read what they really cracked the book open for: hothot sex. But perhaps in another week or when my mood shifts I'll change my mind and decide it is perfect the way it is. There was also quite a bit of unexpected crying, in more stories than I would have liked.
This was a welcome and pleasant (not to mention realistic!) portrayal of female lovin'.
I had been looking forward with much anticipation to this book and I'm very happy to say that it didn't disappoint.
Some erotica anthologies are hit or miss and some will include three or four scintillating stories amid several mediocre ones. The collection that is Best Lesbian Erotica 2012 throws a dildo-shaped wrench into that pattern. Almost every single story in BLE 2012 will leave you breathless. Erotic tales of lesbians from all walks of life make the pages of this anthology come to life.
You can count on top-notch work from some of the best writers in the business: D.L. King, Kiki DeLovely, and Anna Watson, for example, all contribute hot, steamy stories that will blow your literary mind and make your figurative panties (or boxers) drop around your ankles.
There are also some new writers -- all establishing their literary presence loud and clear -- who make an appearance.
If you are a fan of the genre, this is one collection that you cannot be without. The title speaks the truth -- this is some of the BEST lesbian erotica you will find anywhere.
if you like your lesbian erotica to revolve around strap-ons, this is the book for you! if you like your lesbian erotica to also sometimes include men, this is also the book for you! three of these stories feature men, one prominently -- fine in a queer anthology, but not if you're calling it a lesbian anthology. the strap-ons are the main feature in all but one or two of the stories. and hey, I've got nothing against including that, but a girl likes a little variety. if you're also a girl who likes your lesbian erotica to include variety (and no men), I'd skip this (as well as probably anything else where sinclair sexsmith chooses the stories).
Full disclosure: my story Touched is in the collection.
Best Lesbian Erotica 2012 is the real deal. Guest editor Sinclair Sexsmith along with Kathleen Warnock have gathered a wide spectrum of deliciously written stories that span the range from sweetness to guttural, high school to retirement, submission to dominance, and strictly human to vampiric. There is something in this book--probably more than one something--to delight the senses of every reader.
Like bookends, the sweet stories that start and finish this book hold the rest of the stories safe and sound. "Touched" (Amy Butcher) explores critical early erotic choices while "Never Too Old" (DeJay) shows that an old dog can definitely learn new tricks. "Rebel Girl" (Kirsty Logan) is a great feisty story of girl love. "Hush" (Treasure Sapphire) a gender bending delight. "Blood Lust" (Giselle Renarde) makes you ponder the true source of artistic inspiration. "The Last Time" (Dani M) captures that painful intersection of lust and hurt and anger. "My Femme" (Evan Mora) is a delightful Corvette ride. "How He Likes It" (Xan West) takes the reader deeper inside S/M. "Vacation" (Ali Oh) provides inspiration for your next trip home to the family. "On My Honor" (D.L. King) will make girl scout merit badges never look the same. "50's Waitress" (Julia Noel Goldman) is simple and sublime. "Skin Deep" (Anna Watson) filled with tenderness. "When You Call" (Sharon Wachsler) lets us live into erotic complexity through the lens of one character's particular disability. "Neck Magic" (Nancy Irwin) embodies the feeling of submission freely given and received. And don't forget to read the Introduction by Sinclair Sexsmith, it'll remind you why this kind of writing matters deeply.
All in all, the whole delicious sandwich of powerfully written, exquisitely explored stories covers the broad terrain of our erotic delights and is a completely satisfying meal. So grab yourself a bite of this great collection. It'll wake up your body and your imagination and feed your soul!
I loved the way that this anthology arranged the stories to create an overarching narrative: from the experiments of youth, to the hookups in bars, to the long-term relationships, to how ageing affects sexuality. Anthologies often feel like a series of disconnected stories, but this technique gave a lovely sense of progression, and meant it was easy to read the book as a whole. Plus, some of the stories were really hot!
Once again, embarrassingly bad. I quote: "Pulling her top off, I dove at her white little tits and sucked her hard nipples. They were like candy on my tongue. I loved her tits. If I had two heads, I'd have sucked them both at once." NOT COMEDY! Not intentionally, at least.
Am straight now. JK straight erotica is just as bad. Am ace now.
