Whitsunday Romance #2

Summer by the Jewel Sea

Rate this book
Having a baby is not on Frankie’s list of things to do. A new job and a romantic existence with Simon on his farm in the Whitsundays is enough happiness to last her a lifetime.
However, even the best-laid plans can go askew and when fate is taken out of her hands, her relaxed, peaceful days disappear. Some additions are easier than others though and as the heat of summer settles in there is more than just the volatile weather to deal with.
Summer by the Jewel Sea is a story of creating a family, making friends, and a continuing romance, set amidst the tropical north of Queensland.

Frankie loved her life with Simon on his farm in Dingo Beach; the last two years had been perfect. Simon had two grown children already - Eli, and fifteen year old Amelia. They'd decided not to have children so when Frankie found she was pregnant, she thought Simon would be cranky. But he was the opposite, as were Frankie's parents and their friends. And when baby Charlotte arrived in dramatic fashion, Frankie and Simon fell in love with the bright eyed little girl. But the arrival of a surly young woman who wasn't expected, shocked both Frankie and Simon...

When Cyclone Debbie descended on the Whitsundays, with Dingo Beach directly in its path, Frankie was terrified. What would happen as the wild, damaging winds and torrential rains hit their farm, their beautiful beach and all they held dear?

Summer by the Jewel Sea is the 2nd in the Whitsunday Romance trilogy by Aussie author Rhonda Forrest and I loved it. I was stuck in the aftermath of Cyclone Debbie on the 1st April 2017, and it was frightening for us - so I can visualise what was happening while Debbie was higher up the coast of Queensland. Summer by the Jewel Sea is a well written, heartwarming story, and I'm looking forward to #3 soon. Highly recommended.

With thanks to the author for my ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

A quick (150 page) summer read set in the Whitsundays during cyclone season.

There is a surprising amount of story crammed into the 150 pages with well flushed out characters and a well depicted setting (I felt like booking a holiday to the Whitsundays after reading). This was such an easy read - easily read in one sitting.

A nice read to get you into the holiday mode and it was lovely to support a local and self-published author.
