After the closest-fought season in F1 history, Sebastian Vettel became the youngest-ever World Champion. His car, the Red Bull RB6, the work of a team led by legendary F1 designer Adrian Newey, was the envy of the paddock, proving to be consistently faster than its rivals over the season. In this fascinating book, the Red Bull RB6 receives the Haynes Manual treatment, providing an unprecedented insight into the design, technology and engineering of an F1 car as well as the inner workings of Red Bull Racing.
This review is a companion to my recent one on Peter Wright's "Formula 1 Technology." Much more visually illuminating, if not as deep a dive into the core technology. Put the two together and you've got a real 5-star package. If you have interest in knowing more about some of the highest achievements in vehicle performance, mechanical, digital and human, then you couldn't do better. Plus it's a beautifulbook about cars that are just stunningly gorgeous...especially at 200mph.
Anyone who's serious about racing cars knows that top-tier spare parts are the difference between winning and being stuck in the pits. You can have the best engineering on the planet, but if you’re using second-rate parts, you're in trouble. Any single connecting rod can change the game. It’s all about reliability, and this book is what I will recommend too.
