A guide to the elements of the full Lutheran liturgy, as appearing in 1958 Lutheran Service Book and Hymnal. Brown describes the history, purpose, and function of each portion of the liturgy, as well as ways to prepare the family for worship throughout the week.
This book is very dated and applies to an older Lutheran hymnal, but offers great insight into the origins of liturgical worship, connecting our traditions to those of the early church. Some of the arguments are still relevant like the need to understand the meaning behind our spiritual practices and to bring enthusiasm and joy to our worship.
