I loved it ,can't what for October to come so I can reread it,if you love ghost stories, paranormal research and so on then your love this book.it even provides more than 125 illustrations, several appendices,a full bibliography, selected filmography, a list of North American localities havyily populated by ghosts, and a special section on ghost hunters, researchers, and general resources. Its the culmination of Brad Steiger's 50 years of paranormal research. I also love how its a bold telling of tire ghost stories and first person encounters. This book needs to be on everyone's book shelf that loves to read and study the paranormal.

I love that the book is split into categories. It was hard for me to stay interested in this book. I read to page 377 which is the end of the Myrtles Plantation story. I realized that the author wasn't stating facts. I know the story from hearing it multiple times so when he said the wife and 2 of the children died from poisoning I knew it was wrong. The wife died a whole year before the 2 children and all believed to be from yellow fever. I love ghost stories but I really love learning the history of places. I couldn't finish the book after realizing the real history of the places weren't being told.

Covers many different topics regarding spirits (both good & evil), the afterlife, and UFOs. It has taken me years to read this because some of the stories just didn't pull me in and I found them boring. I really like that the stories are nicely categorized and that there are pictures to go with some. There were a couple different stories that gave me chills and really pulled me in.

A thick volume broken up into small sections, easy to read in sections. Explores all different kinds of hauntings, even the possible connection to UFOs. A good overview to those interested in an overall look at the paranormal and various theories about spirit manifestations. Interesting photos, most historic, many obviously fakes (not by the author - he lets the reader discern) but keep you engaged.

What a well-written book. Unfortunately I have purchased 8 other books about ghosts, containing supposedly "real" ghost stories, but they were all poorly written compared to this one by Brad. It definitely is on the top of my ghost stories list.

it's an ok book. some stories are good but some others are just boring. I have not finished the book and I'm not sure if I ever will. there are a lot of stories within the book that I am just not that interested in. I'll keep reading on but I'm not sure for much longer.

This is really more about psychology than the supernatural.
