Bangle Bear is an adventurous story of an adopted tailless cat. Within the pages, Bear teaches her human pets what 'cat time' is, that presents are a good thing, and any time is second breakfast. You will discover cats have many interests; the odd places they sleep; are cats truely politicians, and what snacks to share. The tender moments Bear expresses love and devotion to her family members. You will want to share. . . . .
Martha Steward lives in Northern California on the family farm. The animals great and small live on the farm are adopted or rescued. Inspired to write a series for families on pet adoption, blended family issues, and the courage to be a Marine Mum.
Martha's two books, Darby's Story and Bangle Bear inspiring pet adoption through the pages. Both are MCA Silver recipients for Best Books in Pet and Animal Care. Each book goes through the process of finding the pet best suitable for your family. The benefit to spay and neuter your beloved pets. Each animal sets an example of blended family issues, the different personalities and their likes and dislikes. The stories are warm and funny, families will laugh at the conversation the pet have and the outrageous ways Bear teaches her human pets. On a special note these books help children with families members serving our country and the concerns for deployment. A warm and humorous stories for families to read together.

Darby's Story A Mom's Choice Awards Silver Recipient for Animal & Pet Care. (2010) Gaining in popularity as an educational tool for uncertain pet adopters, this short book tells the heartwarming story of Darby. Darby's Story a delightful family/children's book encouraging pet adoption. A heart felt story of a single mother and 6 year old son wanting a special gift for Christmas.
Bangle Bear A Mom's Choice Awards Silver Recipient for Animal & Pet Care. (2011)Discover the history of the manx, how she teaches her human pets when sencond breafkast is, her likes and dislikes. A warm humorous tale of a tailless cat.
As I have stated in the past, I am a serious cat-lover - all shapes, sizes and breeds - even hairless ones, so it should come as no surprise that I loved Bangle Bear: The Tale of a Tailless Cat! My family recently adopted two farm kittens, Bahto and Grimm, and we went through some of the things that Martha and Drew did with Bangle Bear - home adjustments, pet introductions, "presents", fleas and worms, and cat time. It is refreshing to hear about the trials and tribulations of owning a pet, especially since most people are not prepared for the heavy/lifelong responsibilities of pet ownership. Martha's lighthearted stories and photographs are straightforward, yet adorable, containing descriptions of the many lessons pet owners inevitably learn. I had no idea that fleas could carry worms, but now I am prepared to tackle most pet associated qualms - even the halved mice and crickets I'm gifted every couple of weeks no longer phase me. I like the format, font, photos, and descriptions throughout the book; Bangle Bear's story comes alive instantly and is great for kids and adults who are deciding whether to adopt a pet, or for those who would like to learn more about pets. I also appreciate the challenging vocabulary and the mild level of humor. Besides it being a little wordy, I really enjoyed this delightfully uplifting read, and I hope that there are future books in the series. It was nice hearing more about Darby in this book as well!

Book Review: Chris Holmes DVM Wasson Memorial Vet Clinic
"As I read Bangle Bear, an adopted cat children's story, with my 10 year old daughter, I was once again reminded that the most productive way of changing society's views and values of animals is by teaching them to our children. Bangle Bear's story teaches us that even the "throw away" animals that end up homeless can be adopted and provide their new family members with so much love and devotion. Bangle Bear is an excellent children's book introducing children and families to the joy and delight of adopting a pet into your home, a Forever Home.
Martha Steward's books, including Darby's Story The Life of an Adopted Dog, brings a heart felt awareness towards adoptable animals. A cheerful message within her books explains the challenges and issues these adoptable animals face.
If we all do just a little, we can make huge changes in the animal world. They need our help."

The next book in the series is about Bangle Bear the Cat. While I'm a dog person, I also love cats. There is one in my neighborhood right now that sort of "adopted the block." I'll catch her batting at the mice (trust me, it's not something I like to acknowledge that there is MICE in my neighborhood, but there we have it), torment the birds (there must be a reason these birds SCREECH at all hours), and find unique places to perch herself like at the edge banister that is only a few inches wide.
Anyways...Bangle Bear's personality is just as unique, much like any cat. And I love Martha Steward's description of Bangle Bear's "second meal" and insistence at sleeping with a particular family member.
Just like the story about Darby, Martha has a wonderful way of giving voices and personalities to pet's and if you have a child just being introduced to the idea of a pet in the family, these books are a fantastic way of drawing your child in to adoring the pet. Not to mention, if you just love reading adorable stories of a pet and it's family, you will want to read these.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Bangle Bear is a rescued Manx cat. This story is all about how Bear, as she is primarily referred to, finds her forever home with the author. Martha Steward is no stranger to raising a variety of animals, but Bear is special. Being a Manx means she is tailless, has fur that feels like a rabbit, and is one heck of a hunter. The author tells us all about how her life changes to adjust to Bear's lifestyle. She also gives a few helpful tips on how to bring an adult female cat into a home with existing animals, how to treat common feline ailments, and how to have a happy loving relationship with your pet. It's a cute story that could be very inspirational to others. Her final message is to adopt and spay/neuter your pets. The only complaint I have is that the transitions between memories are somewhat lacking within the different sections. Every memory in a chapter is related to the chapter title, but I felt like when one memory ended and another began in a new paragraph, it could have been better conveyed by simply adding a space between the paragraphs.
