Francis Paul Wilson is an author, born in Jersey City, New Jersey. He writes novels and short stories primarily in the science fiction and horror genres. His debut novel was Healer (1976). Wilson is also a part-time practicing family physician. He made his first sales in 1970 to Analog and continued to write science fiction throughout the seventies. In 1981 he ventured into the horror genre with the international bestseller, The Keep, and helped define the field throughout the rest of the decade. In the 1990s he became a true genre hopper, moving from science fiction to horror to medical thrillers and branching into interactive scripting for Disney Interactive and other multimedia companies. He, along with Matthew J. Costello, created and scripted FTL Newsfeed which ran daily on the Sci-Fi Channel from 1992-1996.
I absolutely love this book. its a mix of horror and real life fears. its amazingly indescribable and very much worth the read. I couldn't put it down and just kept turning the page. it pulls you in and doesnt let go. each short story leads to another developing the characters into full color. an amazing book.
Just finished this. I'm not sure if I liked the ending yet, but it was really good all the way through. I would definitely recommend. As other people mentioned its getting harder to find. I bought 2 copies one for myself and one for a friend for about $3, but last time I checked the cheapest one(in acceptable condition) was over $10, so if you can find it for less than that definitely jump on it.
I would rate this the best anthology I have read. In his short story collections Wilson mentions this and how much work it took. The work shows off. Rather than looking like a loose collection of circus freaks all the stories tie in with the central theme story and with each other. Maybe one or two very small quibbles about continuity. This is what the V wars would have been like if they had worked better together better.
Stunningly gritty. I absolutely love this book. Despite it being hard to find, it is definitely worth looking into if you enjoy circuses and dark themes. Even with each of the various chapters being written by multiple people, it flows together superbly.
An excellent collection of similarly themed short stories masterfully combined into one narrative. This book is increasingly hard to find, but worth searching out.
Any book written by multiple authors will have it's highs and lows. This one was decent and a solid read but not really exceptional in any way. Would recommend if the topic came up, but wouldn't think to bring it up
