There are some good things to be said about the book - I like that the authors included and credited an Aztec consultant when writing the book. I appreciate that they didn't keep out that little detail that is human sacrifice just because it's a children's book. I like the combination of illustrations, photographs, and original Aztec art. I do not like that the authors insinuated that the Aztec people were entirely wiped out by the Spanish conquistadors, when it is my understanding that yes they practically leveled the city, and many many people died - but that many Aztec people survived and much of their culture is still alive in Mexico today.
