Little Hands Story Bible
Young children love this collection of short Bible stories accompanied by pictures, which are brightly coloured as well as realistic in their approach. It is an excellent tool to use in introducing young children to a wide selection of Bible characters. The questions at the end of each story help to reinforce the story and involve the child on a more interactive level instead of a purely passive one. The gospel message is explained and applied to young lives throughout the book.
Carine Mackenzie is a well-respected author of Children's bible stories. The Little Hands Story Bible was used as part of a millennium exhibition, which aimed to bring the Bible back to the people. This is the children's Bible our family reads for family devotions after dinner. It's the perfect length for their attention spans. Also no depictions of Christ which is hard to find for children's Bibles!

We've probably gone through this three or four times with our kids (we have the companion Little Hands Life of Jesus). The pictures are really well-done and engaging for the kids, with no second commandment issues. The story portion is succinct and brings out the important points, and then there are a couple of questions after each story for children of different age groups (the very youngest might answer "what color is the man's robe?" while an older child might answer "Who taught Timothy about the ways of God?"
One of the best collections of Bible stories for children, in my opinion.

Mackenzie Macks #2
Random Biblical stories made very short to fit a single page with big writing and a picture on the other side - I get what is happening but the stories are random, there does not seem to be an overarching pattern, and it never really leads young readers to a theological understanding - stick with something like The Big Picture Story Book Bible.

April 9, 2014This book (which is designed to fit little hands, but is not a board book) contains 69 Bible stories, equally divided among the Old Testament and New Testament.
Each story takes two pages. The left page contains:
the title
a 5 or 6 sentence synopsis of the story
where to find it in the Bible
one comprehension question
one question to look for something in the picture
and a summary sentence.
The right page contains the picture.
For instance, Genesis 25.1-34 is titled, "The Twins." The comprehension question is: "Which twin loved hunting?" The item to spot is: "What is Jacob holding in this picture?"
The summary sentence is: "God made us all different and he loves each of us very much."
I notice that many of the summary statements start with, "You can be like..."
For instance, "You can be like the Queen of Sheba and bring your gifts to God," or "You can be like Dorcas and help those who are poor and needy," or "You can be like Adam and look after God's plants and animals," or "You can be like Timothy and learn the Bible while you are young."

Even though she can't comprehend much yet, I want to lay a foundation for my infant daughter hearing God's Word. I enjoyed reading this book to her over the course of a few weeks (along with a real Bible). The major drawing points for me were a) that there are no illustrations depicting the Godhead (which would violate the 2nd commandment) and b) that the stories were God-centered and not moralistic. I liked that each passage also lists exactly where it comes from in Scripture. I highly recommend this story "Bible" for any young child.

This isn't my favorite kids' version, but it's still a collection of Bible stories that I was happy to share with my little girl. She gets so excited when she remembers the stories!

One of my first books I've read. I loved it so I've read it at least 50 times. It's very easy to understand and explains the bible for kids.

Good little book with no images of God or Jesus.
