Inspirational without all the rah-rah fluff. Best part of the whole book? The Expert Signposts. They ask questions that lead to actionable answers. I'm probably the most motivated I've ever been after reading a "self-help" type book.

Having said that, Burchard does mention his Experts Academy A LOT. I'm sure this has to do with the psychology of selling and marketing but dang, for those of us who are savvy to such techniques, seeing the reference to EA over and over can get a little annoying. (Especially when most people reading The Millionaire Messenger probably found it by signing up at EA's site.)

Other than that, no complaints. Burchard gives actionable information and seems to genuinely like helping people become Millionaire Messengers.

I thought this was one of the strongest business books that I've read on starting your own business, becoming an expert and getting your message out. Brendon inspired me on many levels. I feel that is approach is very accessible. In fact, he almost makes it appear easy with regards to making lots of money from doing what you love. Since he is a living example of what he's talking about, I find it to be very empowering.

The thing I liked best about the Millionaire Messenger, is that Brendon understands the entrepreneurial mind. He knows what the entrepreneur wants to achieve and even how they want to achieve it. He then breaks that down with step-by-step directions on what the entrepreneur needs to do to achieve that, and focuses mostly on the thought processes necessary to do that.

On the downside, the book falls short on exacting steps to, for example, set up a website, though, as he says, there are plenty of places to learn how to do that (or to find someone to do that). He explains what you want the site to accomplish. The book's lists can, at times, feel repetitive, and too general. I get the feeling he made an outline of everything he wanted to teach, then called it a book. This is not to say the lists aren't helpful, they are. But at times, I just skipped over them thinking... I can come back to this part, and since many chapters have these lists, I started skipping through a lot. (Later, going back, I did a lot of head work and did revisit some of the lists.)

My favorite part of the book is Brendon telling his personal story and how he became who he is. I also liked reading about how he is changing the entrepreneurial world by bringing them together to learn "best practices" and to share in what's working and not.

This stellar how-to gives all of us the principles and practices to help others and improve our own lives by sharing our expertise. In fact, in this book, Brendon shares a significant amount of his own multi-million-dollar expertise quite freely, and reading it will no doubt catapult you into action on your own.
I wouldn't have founded http://ActionReaders.com and begun working in earnest on my own book if I hadn't attended a four-day intensive with him (and 800 experts in a wide variety of fields from all over the world - what a powerhouse group!). Much of what he taught - dynamically and engagingly in every regard, I might add - is right here in this book, and for a tiny investment compared to what you could gain by following some of his advice.
I'm not a money-oriented person, although I'm all for the Universe compensating me for my efforts whenever possible, so the "millionaire" angle isn't my motivator. It's spreading my enthusiasm for the power of reading - and of building community and taking positive action toward personal and social change - to save the world. Tall order? Sure. But so's earning a million bucks in a year or less. And if anyone can help me - and you - achieve either of these goals, it'd probably be Brendon Burchard.
And he writes well too - quite informally yet packed with action-worthy information and insight, and I understand that he narrates the audio book too. He's a fast-talker, but very dynamic and earnest and energetic too, so I'd buy that too, if you're one for the 'tandem read'...

I love Brendon Burchard's passion for his work and his passion for helping people. He also has incredible insight in leading his own path to success and then offering a blueprint for other's to pursue success. If you want to become an expert and use your expertise to produce income on your own terms, you will enjoy this book. Brendon has worked with some of the biggest stars in the self-help industry and he has the right approach- a heart based, servant leadership approach. The only thing that bothered me a teeny bit was that in the beginning (pages 20 and 21)when he talks about the big "guru" examples that we all know - Tony Robbins, Wayne Dyer, Rick Warren, etc (all men)- he devotes a paragraph to each as an example of taking expertise and making it a career; and then devotes one paragraph and lumps- Oprah and all her friends into that... my question was where are all the women? However, later in the book, he does bring out examples of great women entrepreneurs in the expert industry. (Which is why I still gave the book 5 stars).

“The Millionaire Messenger: Make a Difference and a Fortune Sharing Your Advice” by Brendon Burchard is a good outline of how to make money sharing and selling information. The book focuses on becoming an expert and capitalizing on that information with your story to build a profitable information or expert business.

In Burchard's plan, he teaches that you need to have low level introductory products that lead a person to higher paying products and services such as coaching and high fee seminars. Practicing what he preaches, this book is one of Burchard's low level products. Throughout the book, Burchard reminds the reader that he teaches a lot more at his Experts Academy. So part of the purpose of this book is to get readers interested in, and purchasing, Burchard's higher fee products. You can be annoyed at this, or you can simply recognize that he is doing what he teaches you to do.

Throughout the book, Burchard also stresses that the new marketing model that works the best for information is to give away a lot of information to gain a following and build trust. I think Burchard did that with this book also. While yes, it does promote his higher end products and services, it also contains some valuable information for those who wish to make money in this industry.

Some of the book is just motivational talk about how if Burchard can do it, so can anyone, etc. As far as motivational pep talks go, Burchard does it well. He should, he's studied and learned from some of the best, including Tony Robbins. I liked his message and did find it motivating. I don't know if everyone's life story and message will make them millionaires, but I think everyone should shoot for the moon and go for what they dream of. Burchard does a good job of motivating people to do just that in this industry.

Some of the more practical “how to” segments outline the things a person will need to do to become successful in this arena. His ten steps to an expert empire include mastering your topic, picking your audience, discovering your audience's problems, defining your story, creating a solution, putting up a website, campaigning your products and programs, posting free content, getting promotional partners, and repeating the steps to build a business on distinction, excellence, and service. He also discusses the six areas of profit for entrepreneurial experts. These are writing, speaking, giving seminars, coaching, consulting, and online marketing.

The book isn't long, only 162 pages. One could read it fairly quickly, and then go back to make notes and work on certain areas. As I said, a lot of the book is motivational, and it will get you psyched up to launch into the expert arena. But other sections of the book outline areas you'll want to explore and work on to create such a business. It's not a detailed, step by step guide, but rather the outline of the bigger picture. Burchard outlines the course, and you'll have to dig deeper into each of the topics to make it work for you. Of course, Burchard can teach you these steps in his higher fee courses, or you can figure it out on your own or use other resources.

Bottom line, this is a good book to point you in the right direction in regards to building an information or expert business.

As we are creating course for freelancers for the very first time, this book really moved me, taught me lot of great ideas and affirmed lots of things which are important when helping other people succeed.

What I enjoyed in this book:

- Lots of actionable questions, I will return to, when we'll continually keep improving our own product
- Simple language, it was down to earth and really easy, yet powerful reading changing my thoughts.

What I learned?:

- Importance of always providing value, not getting taken away so much with marketing, but in the end focus on value! Seems simple right? Easy to forget when you are deep in the trenches.

- Make customers accountable, they turned to you for advice, and so many people around us just make us feel comfortable and do not challenge us. We must be different and actually make sure we do everything so buyers actually apply the practises and succeed!

- Don't be afraid of your voice.. I often worry I am too young, and I have still lots to learn, but I need to remind myself, how much I have already learned and how many people actually would benefit from me sharing my experiences. I never know - it may be stepping stone for so many other young people towards their success and mastery!

"We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?
You are child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world.

- Marianne Williamson
""

- "Experts are students first, teachers second, servants always (always keep searching for new techniques, grow, learn and improve your message to help others better)." Make sure I read at least 10 books in my topic of expertise each year, interview 10 people on my topic each year, scour internet actively, research journals, magazines, bookshelves on my information. If I am not doing that I am not minding my mantra. Affirmation: "I am committed to constantly growing and learning."

- Prepare for when your time will be to pass..and make sure you have good answers to those questions. It appears these are the questions people always asked while on their death beds..and I will have the same. Live my life to make sure I have good answers.

"The Great tragedy is not death, it's what we allow to die inside of us while we live. When you are on your deathbed, you are not thinking about how much money you have or how much you have accomplished. The questions people generally ask on their deathbeds are: 1. Have I lived wisely, fully?, 2. Have I loved well?, 3. Have I served greatly?"

- Norman Cousans"

There are a lot more food of thought for my mind right now, these are just a few takeaways! Definitely book I am proud I stumbled to and definitely book that changed me and made me a bit smarter than i was before.

What is this book about?

What are the highpoints of this book?
- The motivational talk
- The inspirational feel
- The ‘You-Can-Do-It-Too’ Pep Talk
- And a few tiny tips over how you can make some money.

What are the low-points of this book?

- It can be misleading to make idiots believe even they are meant to become experts

Who shouldn’t read this book?
- People who have the delusion that the training industry is meant for them also and that they too are going to change the world.

"The Millionaire Messenger" provides an excellent and executable framework for how to take your knowledge, productize it, promote it and sell it. The book's real strength are the 13 or so "sign-post" exercises (as part of his 10-step plan) that Burchard has you run through. These exercises help you determine what you know, how it can bring value to others and how to get started. His 10-step plan consists of: Determining your topic, picking your audience, determining the needs of that audience, defining why you are qualified to help them, creating a solution, creating a website, creating a campaign, giving away your best idea, partnering with others and repeating the process to build a bigger business. A simple to understand approach to capitalizing on your experience to help others achieve their dreams. If you have a ton of knowledge to share, this book will help teach you how to get it out there. A must read for anyone looking to break into the "knowledge" business.

Brendon Burchard has boiled down everything a person needs to become an Expert. His step-by-step approach really appeals to my sense of needing to follow a plan. He not only shows you how to create content in your area of expertise but also provides a useful formula for making a good deal of money using this expertise. The steps are clear and informative and are followed by a series of questions that he calls Expert Signposts. They allow the reader to then define their own message and customer base upon them.

He also does a great job in inspiring the reader to Go for It! I am particularly fond of his chapter on Trusting Your Voice. It details how we all are unique and that the more we bring those qualities alive the more people are drawn to us as an Expert.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to become an Expert presenter, writer, and seminar leader.

I was going to give this book three, perhaps four stars, until I read the last chapter--Trusting Your Voice.
Learning to trust my voice has been incredibly significant to me. Learning to trust the value of my life, my contribution and my experiences, have made and will make a massive difference in my life. And it will for many others.
I'm glad I read this book, if only for that one chapter alone--it got through to me.

Nice book for inspiration, but I am not sure what to think about this story. It is like from fairy tale - "I have almost die and then I started help people and become millionaire" - could happen only in USA (czech and slovak people wouldn´t pay for this kind of consultancy).

Good book to give you an overview for what opportunities you have as a content producer. However, the book is just an outline. No details on how to do any of what he's suggesting. The books serves as a sales peice for a course the author is selling.

I really wanted to like this book. It has some good information. However it could have been 75% shorter. The extra material: he knows Tony Robbins, he knows Paula Abdul, he has made a lot of money, and he has a business you can go to for more information. Good info drowning in an Infomercial.

Last night, I had a terrible, unpleasant experience with productivity guru, Brendon Burchard.
On January 29th, he sent out an email saying - You all loved transformation week so much that we’ve decided to share my ENTIRE Wellness Master Class with you at NO COST over the next 10 days. I’m sharing the ENTIRE course via my podcast as well as via video on this page. But fair warning: Each episode is only up for 72 hours, so enjoy it now.
Fast forward to yesterday, no new email sent out about Day 3, it was still locked, no Day 3 on the podcast! As I researched further into it, I found out that he shared a broken link to the class (because you had to sign up within 48 hours - if you miss out on the window of time, you have to pay $99 for the class) and he wanted to make sure that people missed that window of opportunity. One person said that it worked if they clicked “Back To Home” and when someone complained, he shared a 2nd link and there was a third, link, when people still didn’t have access to Day 3. People thought they signed up, but it didn’t take. I called them out on it and last night, the link was fixed within 15 minutes, and the podcasts and videos are up this morning, after I told them I was contacting the attorney general. Last night I took a photo at 8:23 and only Day 1 and 2 were up for the podcasts. And 9:42 they deleted Day 1 podcast. I got an email in between those times at 8:29, referring me to another website. They completely blew me off. At 9:38 I told them I was contacting the attorney general, which is why by 9:42 they had deleted Day 1 and fixed the broken link. They could have gotten away with passing the buck to the other website, but that didn’t explain the podcasts not being up, as promised. Then later they hid one of my comments and then when I called them out on it they unhid it. And then after a while I was unable to tag the people I was communicating with, exposing his scheme.
These slimy business practices are all too common with people like this. And the most tragic thing to me is that they can say great things, but once they do something slimy, it loses its power.

This is an odd little book. The first part sounded almost exactly like many webinars I've heard over the years. Personal stories. A vision of the incredible wealth and success you could have. Financial calculations based on rather dodgy assumptions indicating how easy it could be for you to become massively wealthy. I suspect he has given a great many webinars sounding almost exactly like this, and could have just had one recorded and lightly edited to create into another audiobook to line his pockets and line up more customers for him.

Then things change and he spends a surprising amount of time talking about the reputation of "the expert industry" as a whole, how they need to behave differently, and about the industry group he started. I get the feeling that, rather than trying to sell something there, he honestly is passionate about this project. It's not really clear why so much content on this industry group for people who market themselves as experts in particular topics online needs to belong in this book, but his passion is clear.

A pleasant surprise is that there is no hard sell in the book. He mentions his website URL a few times, but has no particular sales page to drive people to, or free reward to entice them with.

I would urge people to listen to this for two main reasons: 1) Brendon IS a good storyteller. Pay attention and learn from his examples. 2) He's giving you insight into how content marketers operate. Now you know what to look for when you are the potential customer.

Certainly, it is possible for people to make a good living doing the things he advises (but many try and fail). And over time I've grown less comfortable with the idea of building a business based on people shelling out hundreds, or perhaps even thousands, of dollars for information that may or may not help them. But if you do want to learn more about this world, this isn't a terrible introduction. But make no mistake. This isn't a book with solid lessons to give you to improve your life. This is a book designed to entice you to start an online business selling information to people, preferably learning how to do this by purchasing the author's products.

Oh boy now this.

What do you do when you realize there's only so much money you can make if you work with one client at a time, and that the next level of your game is becoming a mentor?

There was a day last week when I saw a client for three hours in what was supposed to be a one-hour appointment. I charged my fee and, though tired and hungry, went happily to the supermarket to get something for my late dinner.

While browsing Instagram waiting for the first part of my digestion to kick in I stumbled upon what seemed to me to be a credible and sensible guy speaking of mentorship. He was a mentor of mentors. At some point he said candidly and quite credibly that he currently avoids working for less than 1,700 USD per hour as that's how much he gets for his mentoring groups. He made a lot of sense and most of his content was really intelligent and transparent. Something shifted deep inside me. It's like finding out there is a new dimension to the reality you thought you knew so well, and there's a bunch of people already there. I started voraciously consuming his and other mentors' content. No, it's not bs. I have a pretty damned sensitive bs radar. It's reality. These guys know what's up. They are making it happen. Mentoring is where people like me (i.e. driven, curious, studious, ambitious) are.

Oh, well. We'll see what the future holds. Maybe I'll go back to being satisfied with what I've got. Too soon to tell.

This book holds many motivational and relatable facts about how to be an expert. Many holes surface however on deeper grounds. For example Burchard explains two different types of people, one who dig for gold. When they don’t find enough from one spot they dig another. And another. Finally they have a lifetime of half dig holes. The other type of person is one who sticks to their one hole and digs it their whole life, with the thought that persistence will dig you deep enough in experience that gold will come to fruition. This major talking point is discredited by the other major topic of diversification. He explains how he needed to learn many other skills to excel as a professional like video recording, writing, copying, listening, and so on. He says to dig one hole but in his own life he needed to dig many holes to grow the central one. I think this concept of good ideas and awkward contrasting thoughts litter this book. The major gripe I had was the inclusion of many egocentric spurs of all the people he’s worked with and how he’s so grand. Then a sentence later on page 107 he claims he has no ego. Ego is fine, just stick to yourself and trust your audience enough to like you as is. I loved the stories of his life and many of the metaphors and poetic relations to real life issues. I don’t like the excess.

Bought this book on BBW flash sale, and it is not disappointing. I have no idea what this book was about when I first bought it, but I think it fits very well with what I wanna do with my life.

For the last two years, I have been envisioning my life as being an impactful person for those around me. What impact exactly? Be a critical thinker so that we can live a fully live where we don't worry too much. I have been an advocate of being critical to those around me, my co-worker, college friends, hobby friends, etc. It hasn't move the needle much and I've met with lots of objection on my way of thinking as well. However, I can say some of my sayings change them, and I am looking to scale. This book literally represent the necessary knowledge and tools for me to scale my impact.

The fact that it all happens such coincidentally, makes me feel like this is some sort of calling. I'd definitely amplify my sharing in my social media.

Great book imo, a very good read!

A practical guide to becoming an 'Expert' or 'Guru'. He lifts the curtain on the Expert Industry in a way that hasn't been done before, giving practical steps as to how to make your first million if you are starting out from scratch. It's fascinating and exciting, and I can't wait to see the next generation of Experts that are born in this books wake. He really made me believe that everyone has a powerful message to share and that making a money sharing your message and doing what you love could be much easier than you think.
