I'm not going to rate the Bible, but I am going to discuss this "translation" (I own many different ones) that is very popular despite the fact that it plays fast and free with the text many times to support a specific theology. By this I mean with things that don't appear in any Greek text, nor even the Aramaic Peshitta text. This is why at least one pastor I know calls it the "nearly inspired version." The NT is worse than the OT by quite a bit. My family hasn't been Catholic in hundreds of years, but I find they are less liable to stray from the text many times because they aren't starting from a sola scriptura viewpoint. It's not sola scriptura if you have to tweak things this much--and I mean when the texts and mss are crystal clear. I did not mark the pages where this happened and wasn't really going to say much until I was in Revelation and found several more of the more inaccurate changes.

I don't' have nearly as many complaints with the NIV OT as I do with the NT, and I've read this version multiple times, almost always in parallel Bible with other things in hand because I get quite surprised by some of the changes.

Just barely squeezed in a second reading of the New Testament before the end of the year after wrapping up my Bible in a Year plan early. I enjoyed spending the year in the NIV. It’s the translation I grew up with, but I haven’t spent much time with it recently. Which translation should I go through next year? I did the CSB last year and the NLT the year before.

Twelve times, I have read the New Testament from beginning to end. This is the second time I've read the NIV through. While not my favorite translation, it's been a good opportunity to familiarize myself with it.

The New Testament is a collection of twenty-seven books, recording the life and teachings of Jesus and his earliest followers. It includes the four Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, twenty-one epistles by St. Paul and others, and the book of Revelation.

One of my reading goals this year is to read through the New Testament each month. I made it in January and love the exposure to truth.

Of course, it's 5 stars! This year I read the New Testament while using an audio Bible study app "Through The Word" ... an excellent daily devotional guide. I followed the plan "NT in a Year", reading one chapter a day and listening to a 10-minute guide through the scriptures. https://throughtheword.org/
