Re-read in 2020: Okay, so my opinion changed a lot after 10 years. This book series is actually a pretty wholesome book. Ofc it's not accurate, it's not meant to be. It's meant to be a fiction work. But even for a fiction work, it does get lots of point rights. And it's so cute to see teens just learning about Wicca and learning about the Craft and starting to walk the path.

I think it's a really nice chill series, especially for teenagers. And honestly, I loved re-reading it! :)

3/5 Not bad. Not great. These books are pretty generic, stereotypical plots for the most part. Highly guessable in many instances. That said, they're still interesting for what they are, given that there isn't much along the lines of this genre to choose from. Some of the characters can be incredibly stupid beyond belief, but who wasn't when they were a teenager, at times at least? This book is about consequences, and what happens when you put yourself and your own interests ahead of other people's. It's a moral story about what can go wrong when you blindly follow others and when you give in to temptation. In this case, the temptation is popularity. I won't spoil the details, but let's just say, when people who didn't like you, suddenly do... perhaps you should pay close attention to WHY!

Once again, a pleasant read in this series. The way she's interpreting the Tarot cards made me think of how Lyra in His Dark Materials (the Golden Compass etc.) uses the alethiometer. The latter is probably modelled after Tarot, but still... and it was wholesome again. On to the next.

This fourth book in the Circle of Three series is centered on Annie who has found that she has a talent for using the Tarot cards. She finds out , though, that there's a difference between just using something and using something wisely.

Annie reads the Tarot cards for some of the most popular students in school, in part because she wants to become popular herself. Two problems arise, though. One being that people who have a reading often hear what they want to hear and this can lead to problems when the things seen don't come out exactly as they expected. Another problem is that Annie is gifted and does very good readings; so good that she ends up getting blamed when bad things that she sees happen actually do happen.

All of this tends to strain her relationship with Kate and Cooper, causes some self-doubts, and leads to several meetings with the goddess Hecate who tries to warn Annie about what is happening.

There's also a section where the girls go to a sort of Tarot party where various people in their Wiccan group dress up as cards and pass on messages to the people who are walking the Fool's path which, for Annie, includes a meeting with someone that no one else knew was there.

There's also more explanatory information about Wicca in the book, and some material on the Tarot itself. A very interesting fourth book, sort of along th lines of "with great power comes great responsibility."

I don't really know what to say about this one. Quick read without a lot of depth, forgettable main character who seemed pretty dense, and not a lot of action to draw me along through the boring characters and boring storyline. Dumb girls making dumb choices and not taking responsibility or learning from them. I really think I'm done with this series. The only person I'm interested in seeing what happens to is Sherrie, and she's not a main character.

Perhaps the most complex of the novels thus far in the series. And because of it's execution, it can seem to drag on rather than build tension. The main reframing quality of the book though is that Annie's journey to understanding the Tarot cards brings up many different questions many beginners have when first working with the cards. Definitely still looking forward to what's next for these fledging Wiccans.

Annie learns to rad the Tarot cards and at first everything goes fine then she starts having dreams about Hecate who gives her a warning but she takes no notice and then things start to go wrong. Another excellent read

I thought Annie was a great character. I especially could relate to how she was feeling about popularity.
