Re-read in 2020: Okay, so my opinion changed a lot after 10 years. This book series is actually a pretty wholesome book. Ofc it's not accurate, it's not meant to be. It's meant to be a fiction work. But even for a fiction work, it does get lots of point rights. And it's so cute to see teens just learning about Wicca and learning about the Craft and starting to walk the path.

I think it's a really nice chill series, especially for teenagers. And honestly, I loved re-reading it! :)

Not sure what to think of these. So far they're just okay. Mediocre. Nothing too shocking. I'm not really connecting with the characters much yet. But in time perhaps they will grow on me more.

A really great series of books of which this is the 2nd. The theme is witchcraft and the three newbies are thoroughly tested with trials and tribulations that form their commitment to each of their belief systems. I found it easy to read and quick to absorb. Highly recommended especially to those interested in the supernatural genre.

what i really liked most about this series was that it was kind of a prolonged how to book, and that's what i like most about it on the re-read. the best parts of any circle of three book are the ritual aspects, because there are very good little quarter calls and meditation tips and magical works scattered throughout the high school drama. i think isobel bird was pretty smart to add all these to little novels, but i also kind of wish she had written just a basic how-to book that might've had more longevity.

A superb sequel

Picking up six weeks from where book one left off, this second instalment sees Kate, Annie and Cooper learning more about their new path and one another. Things are tested due to the appearance of a new girl, but the truth is found in the end.

Good enough to want to keep on reading, but not as good as the first. Onto the next one.

Anna, Kate and Cooper to open ritual which leads to the first in a series of classes about witchcraft. (Again, there is a good bit of explanatory material about what witchcraft is and is not.)

A new girl, Sasha, is also in the class. Later, it seems that she apparently steals the group's spell boo, although there is no proof at that time that she did so.

Then Kate and her boyfriend Scott break up, with Scott being the one to end their relationship. This occurs in an unexpected manner, surprising Kate totally.

Kate then goes to the second class; there are fewer people than in the first class. The classes have a period of general teaching/explanation, then break up into small groups which then discuss some aspect of Wicca, or actually try to solve some problem. It seems that Sasha, who is also still attending class, is very aggressive in her ideas of how magic should be used; even admitting that she once did a spell on a girl who stole something from her and, by coincidence (?) the girl's house soon burned down. Sasha seems totally unaffected by the implications of what she might have done; not a trace of remorse colors her remarks.

It seems that Kate has begun to make friends with Tyler, a boy in the study group, and their friendship is fast approaching the girlfriend/boyfriend stage.

Later, the library, helping Sasha with an English paper, Kate discovers that Sasha had stolen a book about witchcraft from Anne's home. She also discovers that Shasha had done a spell to get Scott, her former boyfriend, to fall in love with her instead of Kate. It even seems that Sasha is managing to take Kate's "in-group" friends away from her at the same time.

Yet all may not be exactly as it seems. Kate goes in search of Sasha and finds out that the girl is hiding a major secret. Kate still has the dedication ritual to go through and still has to deal with her own feelings for Tyler. A lot goes on in this book, and Kate seems be getting more mature in the way she deals with people.

This series makes me miss middle school/high school me.

My best friend and I were so in love with these books. The story was cool and different from most of what was available to us. It had to do more with friendship and struggles and overcoming obstacles as well as romance. Rather than the trope that we were normally seeing that was encouraging girls to be passive in their lives. This series encouraged girls to take charge and run their own lives and make their own choices and to stand by them.

Very cool book and hopefully my kid will be into it too, I still have all of them, even the one my dog ate as a puppy.

You want some fun YA book about witches but kinda also want the real thing? This is it. So far in the series, magic hasn't involved shooting white light from the hands, blood witches descended from "the ones you couldn't burn," or any of the fantasy stuff that fills Harry Potter or the Sweep series. This books talks about magick as energy, the author knows their history and that Wicca was created in the 50s, and the lessons learned are great not only for a coming of age type story but also the basic ethics of dealing with metaphysics. Heathens, Thelemites, Theosophists, and the like may enjoy this just as much as any teenager taking their first steps into the pagan world.

Once again I enjoyed the introduction to Wicca with this book, but the personal problems struggles with the main character did not interest me. I have to keep reminding myself that the main character is a 15 year old girl, which excuses her for some of her more selfish, self-centered behavior.

I will probably read a couple more in the series just to see how it goes. I am also going to encourage my 15 year old dd to read the first couple books as they do offer a nice introduction into what Wicca is and she has recently asked questions about Wicca.

Really interesting, this series is.

I was looking for abook series like this that talks about actual Wicca in a teen series, whithout any impossible stuff such as Kate Tiernan's Sweep and her Balefire series (I love those series!)

This series manages to combine spiritual concepts with common problems teenagers might face when exploring Wicca, and honestly, I appreciate that. Some series tend to focus only on romance and then spiral from there (Sweep) but this series manages to delve into multiple interesting topics without dragging on or breaking off too far from the beginning.

This was my first time reading it since I was twelve, and nearly twenty years have passed. The star rating still stands. I thought this was a good second book out of a fifteen-book series. I remember being so glad this was a whole long series, as a tween. Now, I wrote a long, spoiler-y series-wide review on my Dreamwidth: https://c0nstantchange.dreamwidth.org...

It doesn't address the books chronologically, bounces around a lot, and discusses themes that worked well and themes that did -not- age well.

I read most of this series when I was 18.
I was so happy to find some literature for young adults that painted my religion in a positive light and held true to it.
I want all these books so that when my kids start getting interested in it, they will be in my home library and I can recommend them to read the series.
Thank you, Isobel Bird!

Really enjoyed this book. Love how the characters have real problems and real concerns or "doubts" about getting involved with the new study of Wicca and how it will affect their "community". Very believable story line and love the cliff hangers at the end of each book. Can't wait to get my hands on the next.

Book 2 of the circle of three series was fantastic
Second time I have read the book and I still enjoyed it
A continuation of three friends who discovered Wicca. Only this time they decide to take the dedication ritual - the first step in regards to becoming a witch. In this book there is a new character Sasha who has a secret or two and a really hot guy that I wouldn't mind dating

What to say? More teenage angst, a tiny bit of growth and a dump truck full of Wicca. And of course it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. It was a light fun read, but I don't know if I can take much more of Kate's wishy-washiness.

This is the book #2 from Circle of Three series. It tells the story how the second witch sister is converted to Pagan society and gained the witch power. I always enjoy all the series without complain, so my opinion for the rest of the series is the same: FUN!

First of all I totally forgot about Sasha she was one of the new characters I hated so much when I read this story but she was just a girl with conflicts and hopefully she is not Lying about all the stuff happening to her. Tyler though was just a sweet heart for me, more so that he practice the craft because his mom is in it. Also reading that he tried other religions but he prefer Wicca. At the same time what Kate does with Tyler irritates me especially at the end I really don't remember what she does but hopefully she does the right thing. Wiccan wise it's right on track it's amazing finding out that the author actually did the spells and stuff in this book. Love the mystical part of this book cannot hated it although the writing it's alittle to confusing in some parts but their were little thing that people could forget. Cannot wait to read the other book because that one we start learning stuff from everyone and the mystical part of witchcraft and powers that the girls might get. Not like superhero powers but mental ones, one will know what I'm talking about if they practice witchcraft. So yeah love it wish they made new version of this series I will love to buy them is one of the series I love.
