It would be hard to imagine a collection of people more diverse than those interviewed here, from a 24 year-old international women's footballer, to a world-renowned photographer famous for images of world leaders and iconic celebrities like the Beatles, to a retired Reverend. But a simple and powerful connection links them they are all Scots abroad. This look at the fascinating lives of a fraction of Scotland's expat community, explores how they feel their home country helped shape them, the motivations they had for moving away and the perspectives (both good and bad) that distance has lent them of the land they left behind.
Henry Baird McLeish is a Scottish Labour Party politician, author and academic who briefly served as the First Minister of Scotland from 2000 until 2001, when he had to resign following a financial scandal, the first major scandal to face the Scottish Parliament since its reincarnation. Formerly a professional football player, McLeish was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Central Fife from 1987 to 2001 and the Member of the Scottish Parliament for Central Fife from 1999 to 2003.
