Treasures (Alana O'Neill Mystery With Vintage Recipes #1) by Amy Alessio This book starts out with a story about a woman who is the bookkeeper for the antiques shop. She learns of a fire and she and her son head down there. The uncle runs the store and there is some damage. One lady was sent to the hospital to recover from smoke. Lots of booths that others rent out and sell their antiques. Like how the story goes but there are recipes at the end. Each recipe starts with a title, list of ingredients are included and you should be able to substitute for your healthier dietary needs: low sodium, low fat, low sugar and fresh vs. canned items. Directions are given, NO nutritional information and NO pictures. Great story and can't wait to read more of the author's works. Very short novellas. Her works are listed at the end.
I just stumbled onto what looked to be a cute little series on Kindle Unlimited. I wanted something super quick to read, and this was just perfect. Being it was very short, there was no murder, but it was still a good little mystery. I learned just enough about the characters to get interested and know that I'll continue borrowing the series. The whodunit wasn't really hard to figure out, but the reason was the part I wouldn't have guessed. There were four vintage recipes (since the main character is an old cookbooks seller at her uncle's antique mall) that looked pretty yummy.
We barely get a chance to meet the cast and crew before the story is over!
I'm ambivalent about this book. On the one hand, the plot is resolved. On the other, it is resolved so quickly that there is barely any time to get to know the characters.
An entertaining fast paced cozey mystery reader like a pocket book stile of mystery introduceing caracters as there involvement carries the storey along with perhaps a budding romance in the making. Aquier "Treasures "let it entertain you while on the go. 😮🤔🙄☺Kat
I enjoy books that have a different story line. This is the first for me in an antique mall. We have a mystery to solve and some interesting characters. This was a quick read and not a lot of real suspense. No romace. Just a Mom her son and the Moms ageing Uncle who owns the business.
I don't do book reviews like you keep seeing, as I find that some give too much of the plot away and I personally hate that, as it makes the book not worth reading. I much prefer to take the authors back cover write up as a review as it can either intrigue you enough to read the book of provide you enough information to make you decide that the book is not for you. My review rules are: The more stars, the more I liked it. If there are too many typos or errors the less stars I give If the storyline or plot is poor or contains too many errors, the characters are too weak, the ending lacking something, then the less stars I give. Simple, uncomplicated and to the point without giving anything away. Some of the books I read have been given to me by the author as a pre-release copy and this does not bias my reviews in any way.
