The Academy has always been the home of fallen angels and haunted humans, but that is about to change. Hunter and Kayla, the immortal and the Nephilim, find themselves trapped in a place that they hate... with beings that they do not trust. Inside the Academy they are surrounded by fallen ones... the screw-ups... Outside, the Academy is surrounded by demons and ghosts who are trying to get in, including an incubus who has a history of tormenting Kayla. As Kayla is forced to learn about what she is... about what she was born to do, Hunter only has one thing in mind. Hunter wants to get Kayla out of the Academy, but leaving the Academy's protection will put everything and everyone at risk... themselves included. In this world, there is a reason why the Fallen ones are getting a second chance. They are all that is left to protect the human race!

Seeing the cover and realise that the lovely couple is Hunter and Kayla i just wanted to screaaam! 2012 is taken so long till the second book of the series!!!
The writing style was that of a really badly written fanfiction. You know, the kind of which you read like three paragraphs and decide to close it with "oh fuck no" Kelsy (Kelsey?? I don't even know) was a total brat and the amounts of "whatever" in the first several pages could literally bury me. I definitely didn't get into any of the characters, it was just so dry and so fast. Also, there were just too many exclamation points, and joined with weird writing style, no full characterization and just weird plot, I felt as if a band of dwarves hit my brain with pickaxes everytime an exclamation point was used. Not a good feeling, btw. p.s. if I didn't live by the rules of "let's not go under two stars because the author deserves some appreciation for even writing this", it'd definitely be only one star (and even now I'm tempted)
Another amazing book by Daniele Lanzarotta! I loved it. The story flows from beginning to end with plenty of twists and turns that catch you by surprise, and of course her famous cliff hangers. There is a lot more action in this book and I just couldn't put it down, I kept telling myself "just one more chapter" and 4 or 5 chapters later I finally put it down for bed. I really like that she doesn't kill you with the details. I don't need to know what color each characters clothes are or what they are thinking about every second of the book. I loved the new cast of character, especially since I was one. ;) Kim I'm excited for a third book!
Great follow on from 1st book takes you to a completely different place so the story moves on instead of being 1 of a series that all seem the same! loving this series!
I listened to the audiobook at a faster rate... The narrator is the same one as the previous book. I really wish this narrator would differentiate her voice so that we can distinguish the different characters.
In this book both Kayla and Hunter are at the academy. Kayla learns who her biological father is. Eeekk!! She also learns more about who she is and what she can do. The story gets better in the second book.
The story got more 'traction' in this book. However, I can’t really 'connect' with any of the characters and the lack of proofreading on the book made it a bit frustrating to read. The idea behind the story is quite intriguing though...
There’s quite a lot going on in this second book in the series. With the characters developing very well and the storyline continuing I can’t wait for the next book. A fantastic performance from Sarah.
This book was a good middle story line. You got some questions answered, got more that need to be answered. The journey carried on but isn’t close to an end yet. I’ll listen to book 3!
We meet up with Hunter and he has brought Kayla to the Academy to see if they can help her after her brother Benjamin had sent her into the Otherworld. Hunter really didn’t want to go back to the Academy of the Fallen because he had a hard time dealing with all the different people there, but he knew it was the only way he could save Kayla. When Kayla woke up Mr. Daniels and everyone in the Academy’s clinic was convinced it was the real Kayla until Hunter came into the room and took one look at her and told them right away that it was not Kayla. They quickly got Kim and used her to get the demon that was in Kayla’s body out so that Kayla could find her way back. So many exciting things happen at the Academy we learn who Mr. Daniels is to Kayla. She is really upset with him when he will not allow her to contact Kelly and Andrew to make sure that they are okay. She is extremely worried about them because of Benjamin and wants someone to watch over them as well as her baby sister. Mr. Daniels tells her that someone is looking out for them and he will allow her to contact Kelly and Andrew soon but not by phone call only via letters. So many more things happen in book 2 that I don’t want to give them away if you haven’t read the series yet. Be sure to pick up book 1 Wide Awake. Daniele Lanzarotta
WOW WOW WOW WOW is all that is going through my head a few days after reading Nephilim. It was that fantastic. I will also admit that I am a goner when it comes to Daniele’s writing as I love everyone think that she writes.
The story line and plot flow so smoothly that I did not even notice how much I had read. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing about what will happen next. Nephilim has a lot more action then Wide Awake did, but I loved both books just the same.
I loved the new set of characters that we get to meet, all expect for Tucker and Ember I did not like them very much. I have a soft spot for Ethan now that I know his real story. I also enjoyed Kim very much.
The ending is another cliff hanger that I am going to be biting my nails in anticipation for the next novel. But what can I say Daniele is famous for her cliff hanger endings. I for one can not wait to see what happens
A great sequel, that may even be better than the first. I liked the book a lot. The characters got even better in this one. I like where the relationship between Kayla and Hunter, for a while there i worried they were going to keep pushing each other away. I kind of wished Benjamin had more time. I like him as a bad guy lol I think the stuff with Kaylas dad was interesting. He definitely wont be dad of the year. I found it interesting that he seemed to care more about the kids that weren't actually his, than the one that was lmao. This one kept me guessing more than the first, and there were even a few surprises. I cant wait for the next one.
Full disclosure I didn't read book 1 because I've never heard of this series and I received book 2 for free and gave it a go.
I'm glad this was a short book. What in God's name was the rush? It read like a police report or an account of facts as apposed to a story. Also, switching between multiple characters is fine but doing it all in first person was just straight up confusing.
The story idea was great, fallen angels, ghost and the, never really clearly explained, nephilim but rotten luck on the execution.
Love the character developement in the second of the Academy of the Fallen Books, Nephilim. Kayla is learning who she is and what she is capable of. Lots of different twist and turns in this series of books by Daniele Lanzarotta. Can't forget the love story between Kayla and Hunter. Looking forward to what happens to the Academy as a whole in the next book!
This book was really good. It was good as the first book and it really did keep me on my edge of my set. I think as the first and the second book were both so good, I'm going to say that the Third one is going to just as good.
Love the character development, especially of Kayla. I liked her in the first book, but even more so in this one. Quick read, and I enjoy books that are like that.
