The Deadly Path
In this short story, five-year-old Cindy watches from her bedroom window as an old man passes by in the middle of the night. Strangely drawn to the man, Cindy sneaks out of her house and finds him by following a golden path that only they can see. She watches as he buries strange coins by the corners of several houses.
What Cindy does not know, is that people start dying in those houses. Cindy's life changes when her best friend dies in a fire, and she finds one of the coins buried under the ashes.

I understand that this is a short story, but this book felt more like a very rushed outline to me than an actual short story.
I bought it because I did like the premise and the sample sounded promising.
Basically a little girl follows some creepy old man at night while he places gold coins in the ground and the people that live there will die.
I understand that some authors think that to leave some of the plot to the unknown is scarier than to explain it all away like as to why this man does this, who he is, what the coins say and why the little girl disappears a few days after she pretty brutally kills the guy after her only fried dies.
Personally, I like a little explanation for some of the story.
All in all, I feel like this could be a really good story if there were just a little more detail and explanation because like I said, the premise is really good.

I liked the idea of this story. A mysterious old man is seen walking down the middle of a street and is seen and later followed by a little girl. He buries coins at the corners of houses being built on a new development and later the inhabitants die. The girl becomes entangled in this strange event and …… well you’ll have to read it to find out.
There is not very much detail because it is a short story, which I can live with, but I missed not having a conclusion. If you like mysterious stories where you decide why things turn out the way they do, then this is for you.
