From the man that was part of the duo that gave the world the Duckworth – Lewis method in determining weather influenced one day cricket matches.
A fascinating insight into the man who was more than a cricketer and how different styles have an influence on the game.
His accounts of touring India as captain of the MCC were particularly enlightening especially the reasons why Geoff Boycott didn’t go. All I can say players would be looked after better these days.
Towards the end of the book I felt Lewis had difficulty in knowing when to end his account and some final anecdotes became tedious.
Having said that Lewis’s alert mind shines through and his account of his life is certainly worth the read.
