Overlooking her new boyfriend's quick temper and dark personality, Alexandra convinces herself that his possessiveness is just his way of demonstrating love, but when Cliff rapes her she realizes that certain limits cannot be crossed.
With a relentless concern about contemporary issues and problems that affect teenagers, Gloria D. Miklowitz (USA, b. 1927) examined such topics as rape, suicide, teen marriage, divorce, AIDS, sexual abuse, and racial prejudice in her novels. She helped teen readers look at underground militias, vigilantism, religious cults, steroid use among high school athletes, and the effects of nuclear war. She enabled readers to view the famous battle of Masada from both sides. She also wrote nonfiction on a variety of subjects, from earthquakes and raccoons to President Harry Truman, civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr., and tennis star Tracy Austin.
This book was good but I wondered: How could Alex let Cliff get away with it?! what pissed me of is how Alex let Cliff get away with raping her! He just acted like it was an everyday normal thing saying "Oh im sorry about what happened, you know how I can get. Tell you what, dressed and i'll take you out to eat" I wanted to slap him. Then Alex didnt even call the police! She just left him banging on the door while she walked back up the stairs to her room. What the heck? What if she had opened the door? Would she have forgiven him and then he end up raping her again? Alex should have reached out to her parents and told them what happened. She was very naive.

I was a bit disappointed, but a bit enlightened by this book. At first I thought it was going to be one of those the protagonist goes against all odds and rights what's wrong...
Alexandra is in love with Cliff, a popular, charismatic senior. She is thrilled when she gets a summer job at Y Camp so she'll be with Cliff every day. But Karen, Cliff's ex-girlfriend, is also working there. When Brian, the head counselor, takes a notice of Alex, Cliff becomes unreasonably jealous. Karen even warns Alex about Cliff's hot temper, but Alex thinks Karen just wants to break them up. Besides, Cliff always apologizes the next day with flowers and candy. And maybe Alex should try harder not to make him mad.
picked it up for the BEAUTIFUL cover, read it in one day. Nothing so remarkable (arguably undeserving of 4 stars) but apparently i am a simpering fool for a hauntingly juvenile voice and a simple, realistic horror story
In the book Past Forgiving there is a fifteen year old girl name Alexandra (Alex). Alex is the type of girl that gets straight A’s, on the honor roll, and has a rich family. Suddenly she gets the boy she has always dreamed off, handsome charming and the most down to earth guy she has ever seen. His name is Cliff, cliff is the most popular boy in school and is the captain of the football team.
In the Summer of 2015 Alex and Cliff decide they want a summer job together, so they apply to work with some kids group. When alex doesn't get accepted the first time Cliff goes off on her because he thinks she'll find someone else. Cliff is the type of boy that is over protective of Alex and wants to be with her 24/7. Before Alex and Cliff got together, Alex’s best friend and her were inseparable, now that Cliff is around he only wants Alex to hangout with him. Alex had to ditch all of her friends to be with the guy she loves, what is worth it?. Alex is so worried about everything she does in front of Cliff, and finally she made a big mistake which lead to Cliff hitting her. Alex had to rethink everything about her relationship with cliff now.
I really liked this book because it had such a big climax towards it. I would recommend this book to anyone fifteenth and older, but more toward teen girls. This book shows how girls should not be treated and how you should not leave your friends and family for a guy. Alex is faced with many bad decisions that she needs to choose. But in the end everything works itself out. I would definitely recommend this book!
