What a fine example of adventure writing for young teens. It follows young Indiana Jones adventure in Turkey before the brake out of the first world war. It involves secret societies and long forgotten myths in the underground cities of Capadócia. What a fun and interesting read. Can't wait for my daughter to grow up and enjoy these books.

This was pretty Indiana Jones-ish! Travels around Turkey, including Constantinople, Konya, and the troglodyte houses of Cappadocia (been there x 3!), with his old mate Herman Mueller. And there’s also the Mark of Cain (and knife) which gives me Supernatural plus Aussie heavy music vibes (FTW), not to mention Temple of Doom-ishness.
Finishes very coincidentally on the date of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and the beginning of World War I. Dun-dun-Duuuunnnn!!
