Stacey Hopkins had everything most girls only ever dreamed of: popularity. When her best friends move to another school and bet that Stacey wouldn’t make one single friend if she were to enrol; everything goes downhill.
After a couple of encounters with the police, an embarrassing ‘flash’ in the public pool and a near death experience, Stacey is beginning to understand what it’s truly like to be unpopular.
Determined to win the bet, Stacey is willing to go to every length to prove to the girls she can fit in anywhere. That is, until they throw in an extra bet which involves the cute guy that actually bothers to associate with Stacey. It’s then that Stacey is faced with a difficult choice: popularity or loyalty?
I'm a Jack, or more accurately, a Tyrolin of all trades.
Broken Dolls, the first in the trilogy, is an award-winning, international #1 bestseller and appeared on Buzzfeed's Top 24 Best SciFi/Fantasy Books of 2015.
I have been in the Top 25 of the Australian Songwriters Association and Top 5 of the Australian Independent Music Awards, was awarded an Australia Day Award for Music in 2014 and for Arts in 2015. I own a performing arts school, teach creative writing and host a podcast called HooPod, which is part of Felicia Day's community.
I love cats. I love every kind of cat. I just want to hug all of them, but I can't hug every cat.
I was actually pleasantly surprised by this book, especially considering the author was apparently 16 when she wrote it.
I've read a lot of teen books and they seemed so fake. Dumb Luck is written by a teenager for teenagers. The writing could be better, but she has an engaging style.
The character arcs were interesting and there were laugh out loud moments. I found my heart breaking towards the end and the ending was satisfying.
Honestly, it's an easy read and a great book and I could totally see this become a movie one day. Maybe even a TV series. Could someone sort that out? I want to see more of Stacey and Rory. I'm looking forward to Tyrolin's next book.
I LOVED THIS. It just seemed so real. Bella and Edward are so dramatic....it's a relationship that would never work.
Stacey and Rory? They just fit together so perfectly. They have real problems, real dynamics. I wish Rory was real! This book teaches you to be yourself, especially through the sucky teen years. Never settle for anything less than yourself.
