"Illiaden" = "The iliad (written cirka 8th century BCE) by ancient Greek author and epic poet Homer.

The famous epic poem by the ancient Greek poet Homer, which recounts some of the significant events of the final weeks of the Trojan War and the Greek siege of the city of Troy. With themes of glory, wrath, longing for home and fate.

The story begins about ten years into the siege of Troy by the Greek forces, led by Agamemnon, King of Mycenae. Agamemnon decides to go to war with the Trojans as he took offence to Prince Paris abducting his wife, Queen Helena, and convinces other armies to join him.
An important point in the story is when Agamemnon takes away Briseis, Achilles‘s war-prize concubine. Feeling dishonoured, Achilles wrathfully withdraws both himself and his Myrmidon warriors from the Trojan War. Throughout the battles the various gods and goddesses (particularly Hera, Athena, Apollo and Poseidon) argues among themselves and keep manipulating and intervening in the war, despite Zeus’ specific orders to not do so.

Despite the strong warriors on the Greek side as Agamemnon (King of Mycenae and leader of the Achaean army), Odysseus (King of Ithaca), Diomedes (King of Thrace), Great Ajax (Achaean commander), Little Ajax (Achaean commander), Menelaus (King of Sparta), Nestor (King of Pylos) and Idomeneus (King of Crete) the tide turns in favour of the Trojans with Achilles and his warriors away from the battlefield.

Trying to turn the battle in the favour of the Greeks, Patroclus convince Achilles, to dress in Achilles‘ armour and to lead the Myrmidons against the Trojans. Promising him to be careful as Patroclus is the one most dear to Achilles.
Patroclus kills a lot of Trojans including Zeus' son and starts gloating; angering the Gods.
Apollo is the first one to strike Patroclus. Prince Hector of Troy finds the disguised Patroclus and, thinking him to be Achilles, fights and kills him, with the help of Apollo. Menelaus and the Greeks manage to recover Patroclus’s corpse before Hector can inflict more damage.

In the sorrow of Patroclus, Achilles rejoins the battle, slaughtering all Trojans before him in his raging fury. Now even the gods join in the battle and the earth shakes with the impact of the battle.
Achilles gets his revenge by killing Hector in single combat, but then he desecrates the corpse for several days. Patroclus’ funeral is held. While Hector‘s father, King Priam, in his grief recovers his son's corpse from Achilles with aid from Hermes.
The battle continues and the famous Trojan horse mark the ending of the war as a select group of Greek soldiers hide inside the gigantic wooden horse with the Trojans believed it to be a peace offering to their gods, and therefore a symbol of their victory. They pulled the giant wooden horse into the middle of the city. And the story ends in bloodshed as the Troy fall and the Greeks win the long war.
