Comfort doesn’t mean safety, not in a world built from the remnants of the life they’ve left behind.

Eight years after the world changed forever, Sanctuary and her surrounding settlements had settled into their new way of life. And with the events in Andorra a distant memory, they were safe…or at least they thought they were.

As Leah recounts their highs and lows, the memories of that fateful day come flooding back. The day violence visited them from the sea in a way they could never have anticipated. The way in which their whole way of life was threatened, and she was forced to battle more than just the invaders to keep her people, her family and herself safe.

The day Leah discovered something that would change her life forever.

Devon is from the UK, having lived in many places until finally settling in the Midlands. His career in public services started in his teens and has provided a wealth of experiences, both good and some very bad, which form the basis of the book ideas that cause regular insomnia.

He first started reading for fun as an adult, having tried his hardest to avoid anything resembling academia growing up, and at that point the world became a far bigger place. He has been reading, at least one book at a time, ever since.

His debut works, the After It Happened series, (Survival, Humanity, Society) were published in April 2016 followed by Hope (July 2016) and Sanctuary (December 2016). The first part of the series concluded with the release of Rebellion which was published in June 2017.

Storming high into the charts with the first books of the After It Happened series, Devon launched into the top 10 sellers listings in the UK, Australia, Canada and the US, and he made the decision to write full time shortly after the launch of Hope.

Devon’s self-published beginnings caused a stir in the publishing world, and resulted in contracts with Podium Publishing for Audible, narrated by R.C. Bray (The Martian, Expeditionary Force, Arisen), before a publishing deal for kindle and paperbacks with Vulpine Press.

Further works have seen the start of a multi-author series, sci-fi/post-apocalyptic cross genre, futuristic dystopian and alternative history zombie apocalypse. Spin-off books from the After It Happened world have been announced for 2018.

A DCF. SYFY. Novel (AIHB - 8)

DCF. has. penned the eighty novel in the After It Happened series and in this volume the heroine has a child of her own and she has recaptured the stories and put them to paper. After the child is born her friend and companion Ares walk to the cliffs overlooking the beaches. At this point she is informed that new attacker are on the way. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

Leah's such a badass! Also, I realised the other day how weird it sounded when I said badarse out loud compared to badass, so I'm writing it like the Americans do.

I wondered how Leah and Dan were going to accomplish the seemingly impossible and it was SO so so so so good! The atrocities the Sanctuary and their friends experienced shocked me to the core not because it was written, but because knowing the way the world is... how ugly humans can be to one another, made it all so believable.

Kudos to Mr. Ford for another great book! I hope the next one comes out very soon.

Brilliant series

I can not stress enough how much I have enjoyed reading the "After it happened" series and now the follow on books with the two "Leah chronicles". A believable 'end of the world ' story line, brilliant writing and great characters who you feel you know and really care about. I can not wait for more Leah stories but am hopeful we may also get to know of what happened to Steve who was left in England.
Highly recommend, give them a read!

In this latest installment, Leah has a lot on her plate as she has missing loved ones who are being held by pirates as well as something else that is unavoidable.

The book is told from her POV as she tries to juggle her current internal predicament as well as deal with the external threat that the pirates are dealing. Lots of bullets...lots of fists... and lots of foul language... all lead up to a powerful and endearing ending.

Another chapter in Leah’s chronicles unfolds, revealing yet another enemy emerging from the endless conveyor belt of villains from the despicable arsehole factory. This time, the gang feels compelled to exterminate them with extreme prejudice after witnessing the barbarism of their new foes. Leah plays a pivotal role in this episode, as the one she loves is taken from her. As always, tension and suspense are cranked up to the maximum as Sanctuary anticipates an imminent attack.

As always this series does not miss a beat. Suspense filled, brilliant writing, and leaving you stalking the writer for the next edition. The story line never drifts into the head scratching like "that could never happen". Everything depicted in the work sounds perfectly plausible, and without a shadow of a doubt believable.

Leah's stories

I absolutely love the idea of fleshing out the after it Happened series through Leah's written record. I hope this isn't the end of the road for the back stories and the untold struggles of our group in Sanctuary.
I have enjoyed this series so much and really hope it isn't the end.

The story jumps around between points in time when Leah is around 30, and events from around her age 20, and often sidetracks into the backstories of characters as they appear in the history of events she is writing. This felt disjointed and confusing. Also it could have used more editing, not just spell checking. Tome of knowledge not tomb. Gripping not griping. Taut not taught. Etc.

Great story

Great story following on from a fantastic series. Love the characters flaws and all and the little bits of humour that creep in at just the right moment. Can't wait for the next one.

Entertaining

Years after they arrived at Sanctuary, Leah recalls events involving pirates from east Africa and the brutality of the men. They must defeat a gang that has no regards for life, who are totally lacking in any humanity.

A good read, but there is too much swearing and foul language. The beginning books weren't as bad, but the Leah Chronicles really stepped it up 10 fold it seems. Hard for me to stay focused because of this.

Wonderful continuation.

This episode was as fast moving and exciting as the previous episode. Such a fanciful world triumph in its splendour. Looking forward to more of the same. Excellent reading.

Some editing errors but those are easy to ignore with a story like this. Leah is an ass kicker as usual.

The plot was great as usual, but I've read other books with smoother transitions between present and memories or flashbacks.
