Lori Copeland was born on 12 June 1941. She had a relatively late start in writing, breaking into publishing in 1982 when she was already forty years old. Over the next dozen years, her romance novels achieved much success, as was evidenced by her winning the Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice Award, The Holt Medallion, and Walden Books' Best Seller award. She has been inducted into the Missouri Writers Hall of Fame.

Despite her success in more mainstream romantic fiction, in 1995, she decided to switch focus. Her subsequent books have been in the relatively new subgenre of Christian romance. She has also collaborated with authors Angela Elwell Hunt or Virginia Smith on a series of Christian romance novels.

Lori and her husband of over forty years, Lance, live in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by the beautiful Ozarks. They have three grown sons, three daughter-in-laws, and six wonderful grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters. She and her husband are very involved in their church, and active in supporting mission work in Mali, West Africa.

This was super cute, a light "whipped cream" read - sweet and wholesome, best served with strawberries. I found it charming, not one of the "meat and potatoes" books of importance, but important none the less. Everyone needs some whipped cream in their life, and this was a great one for that. It was very nice to get a break from the heavier reading material I've been working on lately. It was exactly what I expected it would be, and I would read it again as needed.

I stepped out of my regular go-to genres to fulfill a PopSugar 2020 Challenge, and read this book with a pink cover. It definitely did not turn out the way I had supposed, and had a few twists. The author had the main character spend a lot of time in her own head—which in some ways is totally understandable— but it was a bit of a downer. I was disappointed in the ending.

An Unlikely Friendship

The storyline moved at the perfect place. Not bogged down by repetition. Good, believable relationships within the !Madison family. I would have liked Kate to have located the benefactor who paid half her mortgage.

This book is about real life which can be extremely hard at times. I enjoyed it. I couldn’t put it down.

I enjoyed this book. The characters, story, victories, and difficulties were all relatable. It was well written as well. I enjoyed reading about both Oklahoma and San Francisco as places to live also. An encouraging, at moments humorous, and easy to read book.

What a wondeful story this is! I really enjoyed this book, and I loved the main character, Kate. This book is not all happy go lucky, but it ends wonderfully and not as I expected it to when I was in the middle of the story. I thought at one point in the book (about mid-way through) I knew exactly how it was going to end, but I was wrong!! I actually loved the ending! I cannot wait to read more of Lori Coplands books!

This was a quick read that was engaging. There were lots of funny parts but also some parts that tug at the heart strings. I felt the end was a bit rushed but overall I liked the book.

Liked the actual story, didn't like the fact that she had to bring prayer into it. It would have been a good drama/romance if prayer wasn't in the story. I didn't finish the book because of that.

Depressing. Husband dies, wife raising two kids, broke, has to move across the country. Well written but a big downer.

Good book!

Great characters and story. Life has bumps along the way and we have to learn to cope. I like how the main character had true to life responses and learned to go on.
