We prayed one of these each evening after our Rosary. They are mostly short but very lovely. There are litanies for each Person of the Blessed Trinity, especially Jesus in His many forms and sufferings. There are many beautiful litanies for Our Lady under her numerous titles. There are those for the Holy Angels, individually to the three scripturally-names Archangels and collectively to all. And finally, a variety to many of the most popular saints.

I highly recommend praying the Litanies! The word 'litany' has acquired a negative connotation today as something repetitive and dull; I challenge that view. Rather, many of the mindless activities we engage in on a daily basis fit that definition, whereas prayer is spiritual exercise for our flabby souls. Litanies with their list of prayers, though resembling each other are different enough to engage the mind and strengthen the will, enabling us to function as fully engaged human spiritual beings.

Tremendous! I probably read this way too fast as it's not to be read like a novel-it's a prayer book! But, like the first time I read the Bible, the idea was to read/pray it through, make note of my favorites, then use this as one of my devotional "go to" prayer books which I will. Great compilation of many, many litanies from a variety of sources all in one handy volume in a handsomely bound hardback. Well, it's not about the paper or how much I can read, it's about prayer, and this is an awesome resource for that which I'm confident I'll use for many years to come, probably for the rest of my life!
