Devil's Promenade #1

Immortal Temptress

Rate this book
Enya's job is to escort the dying on their final journey, to make sure their souls get to heaven before a demon can steal their bodies. For centuries she has done this without emotion, until the body in question belongs to Kane Sullivan. Not only does she desire his rock-hard body, she can't bear the thought of him dying. But she's not supposed to become emotionally involved in a death.

Kane's sudden run of near-fatal accidents always happen when Enya is present. She might be hot, but he's not willing to die to get to know her. Then he discovers she’s fighting for his soul. That damned immortal temptress might be the death of him.

What is in the description is what you get folks. The book was ok. I kind of want to read the next in the series to see what happens to Enya and Kane. Its fast paced and does have graphic sex so this would not be considered YA. I'm glad I got it for free and it was worth the quick read. I will be on the lookout for the next in the series to be on a freebie list somewhere. I just can't justify even spending 99 cents on this type of book. It is out of my normal genre and I thought it was just ok. 2 stars.

Immortal chick is assigned to escort souls to the other side, falls in love with the guy she’s assigned to. Problem was, it’s a short book, she only has a couple moments with him total, and there’s all these Final Destination accidents that keep taking time away from them actually getting to know each other or having chemistry. So you end up with the feeling that she’s just an emotionally stunted imperial being experiencing her first crush and going all-in on him immediately.

Book #1 of the Devil's Promenade series. I got this for free from Amazon in September 2011.

3 3/4ish stars

This was a short and sweet story. It made me think of the movie City of Angels. Enya gets assigned to people who are about to die. She makes sure that demons don't try to overtake the body once the soul has left them. Her latest job is to stay close to Kane Sullivan whose time will be up shortly. This job should be simple, if only she could prevent herself from getting involved. A seemingly harmless decision on her part changes events. It grants her more time with Kane, but he seems to be followed by a string of bad luck (at this point I kept thinking about Final Destination). They fall hard and fast, but when he's forced to choose between her or the afterlife, which will he choose?

Short and sweet, with the theme of angels vs demons, good vs evil and can an immortal find and keep love? Enjoyable short read. The ending leaves you wondering whether Enya got into trouble or not, but there's an except from Devil's Promenade, Book #2 - Renegade Wolf, and we get a brief glimpse of Kane and Enya again.

Immortal Temptress grabbed me from the first page. It's different from any other paranormal I've read, with its twists and turns. I liked Enya and Kane from the beginning, but couldn't begin to figure out how these two would get together. After all, Enya's job was to send Kane to the afterlife, but she had to make sure a demon didn't get him first. That she became emotionally attached to him was a problem she'd never dealt with. I was sorry to see this book end because I loved Enja and Kane and got wrapped up in the supernatural world Aileen Fish created.

This e-book in Kindle format is available for free at Amazon.com, and it’s a great read to get into. Enya is a morrigan – an immortal being tasked with helping the dead cross over, and stop demons from taking over a human’s body as the crossover takes place.

When Enya meets Kane, a man who is about to die, she throws protocol out the door and gives in to what this stranger brings out in her. But Kane is no normal human, and in the end Enya will have to fight to keep Kane at her side.

This is a short story, but so well told and easy to follow. I can’t wait to read the next book!

It's one of those times when you see free book and noticed the ratings weren't exactly terrible and you needed a quick breather in between a series. Well this is it! Very cute story, quick to the point and easily understood. Almost wished there were angels in this book to make a more supernatural impact. This is more of a mini story, I read it in about 2 hrs.

I was actually bored reading this book, I like books that make my imagination run wild, unfortunately for me this book just didn't do that, although it was about all the angels etc that I love to read about this just didnt do it for me.

A very quick read, and nicely done. Free, too, on the Kindle, so that makes it extra nice. A soul-escort called a morrigan falls in love with her latest charge and tries to save him. I liked the use of the ravens.

Interesting story about a woman whose job it is to usher souls to Heaven. Sometimes she has to prevent demons from getting a body. When she falls in love with her next charge things get heated.

This was well written, with an interesting story concept, would like to have seen more passion between Kane and Enya though.
