Quite a cute little children's tale that has all the right amount of gross bodily humour for little boys. I have quite fond nostalgic memories of this but I couldn't help thinking something was missing on my adult re-read. In terms of comtent you are probably looking at the five to six year old, but the film is really aimed at the eight plus and this seems problematic. It's cute and rather fun but doesn't hit the buttons the film managed to. There was little here that I'd take away and remember... whereas the film did that very well indeed.

Nice message but too short. Didn’t feel like it really managed to get into anything. Although this was a stop gap book while I waited for one to be delivered.

Jack's life is really difficult. It isn't easy being a ten year old and looking like a forty year old.
But he doesn't give up. He moves on with his life and in the end, he lives a good life with friends and family and that is all that matters. :)
