Bofuri : Je suis pas venue ici pour souffrir alors j'ai tout mis en défense T02

Rate this book

I definitely felt like this manga was better than the first one in the series.

My main critique of the first book was that we didn't get enough of Maple and Sally's friendship, which was the main draw for me in the anime, but in this one we see them spending more time together and defending each other from monsters (and eating all of the dessert foods in the cafe because since it isn't real, they can eat as much as they want without getting full or spending real money). So that was wonderful.

We also get to see Maple spend time with Iz the crafter and defend /her/ from monsters while Iz mines for supplies. That was something that wasn't seen in the anime but I found adorable and fun.

Still, I can't give it a full five stars because just like the previous one there are certain action scenes that just don't work in the still, un-moving pages of a book the way they work in a moving TV show or movie. That's alright though.

Excited for book 3!

Okay, developing her character so quickly and in such a weird way is funny enough, but becoming sort of an archetype of a new, unforeseen way of creating a broken character has gotten interesting. Game developers who need to alter their product while it's in use actually happens, by the way. A good example of that is when the Magic the Gathering folks make a card illegal to play in tournaments right after it's been issued...as with the developers here in the manga, they hadn't figured out a way to use things in the way that real-world players will, and in this case, the "Maple" character is simply doing things that make sense, but were never considered by the developers.
I do like the story better with two characters, and the main character's friend is an excellent addition to the story line, especially with the weird ways both of them develop their ideas and uses of things.
Still a very good story for people who like gaming.

I enjoy the fun comparisons to an MMORPG. Those sections take me back to the days when I would play FFXI amd WoW constantly with my friends. However, this series is not offering me much more beyond that. The humor isn't hitting, the art is ok but fails to capture the big action scenes.

So good

So much fun. I love the game admins. That do not know what to do with her. I laugh out loud at her and Sally.

Boss fight. Special eggs. Admins can't handle the deadly duo. Fun scenario.

I like that it shows more of the friendship between Maple and Sally. I also love the art, though the anime does showcase it a bit better.

Even though I really enjoyed the first book in this series, it wasn't near the top of my list of manga that I wanted to continue soon, although I did want to read more. However when the next three volumes perfectly fit three prompts for a readathon I was taking part in, it gave me the perfect excuse to continue the series.

The second in-game event was a lot of fun to read. I love how overpowered Maple is and how, despite the admins trying desperately to nerf her, she keeps beating the game in random, unexpected ways and getting stronger because of it.

It was great to see Sally's list of skills increase and watch how she develops to work really well alongside Maple, so that their skills complement each other.

The characters are lovable and the story is fun to follow. The second volume made me certain that I wanted to read more of the series.
